Since Nintendo Switch 2 era, I'm no longer have interest to watch upcoming Nintendo Direct.
Used to be I will get excited to watch Nintendo Direct but not anymore.
Switch 2 situation really Broken My Heart.

I never bothered with Side Order- mainly because I just never played much of Splatoon 3. I loged rhe main campaign of Octo Expansion and 3, but I really really hate the online component to the game- which is the meat of why you would play Splatoon. I sucked a lot (since I was relatively new), and the high ranking players were pitted against the low ranking due to matchmaking not taking into account player skill. I kept dying over and over the moment I stepped off of spawn in matches. The only mode I liked was Salmon Run.

@VoidofLight Tbf, if you liked salmon run, you'd probably like side order. The vibes are very similar.

Side Order is cool but as soon as I beat it once it became partially too easy. Like its comically broken once you know how to/luck into the right upgrades.

Octo Expansion was more consistently enjoyable and had a complete endgame so I'd put it above any other Splatoon campaign, easily. (also peak Splatoon atmosphere + music)

I know most people don't want this, but I personally want Pokémon Gen 10 to be on the Switch 1 as well as the Switch 2.

"Sound the alarm! Sound the alarm! This dude wants another Scarlet and Violet level disaster and needs to be silenced!" 🚨🔫

Before any of the above happens, let me explain a few points:
Scarlet and Violet development probably started shortly after the release of Sword and Shield. That means it didn't even have a whole three years of development (definitely over two though). Meanwhile, Gen 10 will have a solid 3.5 to 4 years of development time due to most likely releasing in 2026, in time for the 30th anniversary year. The point here is that it wasn't just the Switch 1's lack of power that caused the ScarVi performance issues, but also the somewhat rushed development. If the Switch 1 can handle games like Botw and Xenoblade 3, it can handle an openworld Pokémon game without as many performance issues. Since Gen 10 is getting longer development time, even if it releases on both consoles, there should be no reason for it to have as many performance issues.
Since Nintendo is now doing Switch 2 Editions of Switch 1 games, they can easily do a Switch 2 Edition of Gen 10 that costs an extra $10, to appease the people who own a Switch 2 and want to play a more graphically advanced Pokémon.
Pokémon is a series that mainly appeals to children, who may not be able to afford a Switch 2, or the parents may not want to buy one. If Pokémon Gen 10 also releases on Switch 1, a bunch of kids that don't have a Switch 2 can more easily convince their parents to get the game at Christmas 2026, leading to more sales of the game during the holiday season. Also, if there's a Switch 1 version, it will probably be $60 again (unless it's $70, thereby making the Switch 2 Edition $80). It's a win-win situation for both Nintendo and many players who otherwise wouldn't get the game in that regard.
Also, a part of it is simply my personal preference: if Pokémon Gen 10 releases on Switch 1, there will be no reason for me to spend $450-500 on a Switch 2 🤣.
Something that potentially supports this happening:
The Teraleak from October 2024 mentioned an Ikkaku (Z-A's codename) and a Super Ikkaku (most likely referring to Z-A Switch 2 Edition). It also mentioned a Gaia (Gen 10's supposed codename) and a Super Gaia. From what I know, the Teraleak hasn't gotten anything wrong yet, and it's honestly most likely a genuine leak, which gives it a bit of credibility.

I'm just really hoping that Gen 10 gets a Switch 1 version so I can hold off on a Switch 2 for the time being... holds breath in anticipation for February 27, 2026 Presents

@ShieldHero It'll be Switch 2 exclusive. While there's proof of them testing it on both Switch 1 and 2- it was mostly due to Gamefreak beginning development for Switch 1 and moving over to Switch 2 when they got their dev kits. I doubt they'll release it on the original Switch, given that Pokemon is a massive system seller, and Nintendo would want Gamefreak to make a game exclusive to the Switch 2.

The only reason Z-A is on both Switch 1 and Switch 2 is probably because it's meant to show people how Gamefreak games will look and run on the next gen hardware, in order to usher as many people as possible into buying a console for next year. This is that game that's going to grab people and get them to purchase a console so that they'll have it when Gen 10 releases.

"It is fate. Many have tried, yet none have ever managed to escape it's flow."

ParrakerriRush

@ShieldHero As much as I would like a cross-gen Gen 10, I would still make Gen 10 a Switch 2 exclusive. TPC should make Gen 10 very grand and big, as it is the tenth generation of Pokemon and the 30th anniversary, so having the hardware of the Switch 2 could bring a better experience and better gameplay. Gen 10, in my mind, should look like a mix of Eldin Ring (Texture-Wise) and Breath of the Wild (With the enemies, humans and other things), so having a better console running the game would definitely make sure the game runs smoothly and the experience is all good.

Also, Gen 10 will be a huge seller and having it just on the Switch 2 will definitely drive up sales. That's why they are doing a Z-A Bundle, as Pokemon is a popular IP. Kids and Adults would definitely want in on a grand, brand new Generation of Pokemon. I can see why you would like Gen 10 to be a cross-gen title, but I can't see it happening, even though I would definitely welcome it.

Odyssey 2 when?

VoidofLight

@ParrakerriRush I would temper your expectations. I feel like you should probably expect something on the graphical level of Z-A, if not a slight bit more polished than that. No way will it look anything akin to Elden Ring or BotW, given that Gamefreak games have historically looked dated in comparison to their peers. Even back with the gameboy games, where so many other titles had more intricate pixel art.

The only time they ever really pushed the boundary graphics-wise was with Sun and Moon on the Nintendo 3DS. That's about the only time we ever really got that.

i know a lot of people feel the same, but i am t. i. r. e. d. of people saying “switch 2 doesnt have enough games/exclusives!” the console is freshly two months old what do you expect! i think we are actually lucky to get MKW and dk bananza and welcome tour (😿) this summer. like switch 2 is not doomed because theres only a few games so far, have some foresight 😭 and if anyone thinks im a “defensive nintendo fanboy” no im realistic.

@OctolingKing13 It’s not that there’s a lack of games (besides on Switch 1), it’s that there’s lack of release dates. We have 4 months for Kirby Air Riders to release in 2025, and we haven’t seen any gameplay at all yet. Metroid Prime 4 and Hyrule Warriors both don’t have set release dates either. Any gaps I expect will be filled by Mario 40th, GCN titles, and 1 or 2 Switch 2 Editions (Pikmin 4 please?). I just think we’re at a quiet point where they’re just not giving much info, but there’s certainly still a pretty good lineup ahead of us!

It's very annoying that people have selective memory. If you are enough of a nerd to pay attention to release dates this much, you should already know Nintendo doesn't announce things early too often anymore. You should have a basic understanding of how this works 8 years later.

@PikminMarioKirby oh no i totally agree that the situation regarding release dates for upcoming games is rather unnerving, but im thinking itll be in a september direct. its just the people who are throwing hissy fits about the switch 2 not having an abundant amount og games that are annoying me. hopefully we WILL hear about those release dates soon 🙏🏼 mario 40 celebration merch is giving me hope

I'm actually not at all concerned about the so-called "lack of releases" as long as they continue to release at least one new game almost every month. Also not concerned about the price of the stuff either (unless the console, games, and NSO get price increases, then I'll be a bit worried). There are still other things that are keeping me undecided about Switch 2, though.

I just SMH to look at the hype of silksong.
I don't even see any interesting or appealing from that 2D metroidvania style game.
Never understand why people like that game but I don't even like that game at all.

Here's my unpopular opinion. It's about the current gaming industry itself

Imagine Customer A complains because your web application is slow, and suddenly Customer B and C jump in from the sidelines with counter-comments.

Customer B says: "You don't understand! This web application runs on three dozen — THREE DOZEN — microservices that make it so much easier to develop for, and the added latency is a worthy tradeoff. Think of the developers!"

Customer C then adds: "Not only that, but the front-end is so neatly split into fifty different component layers; it must be a dream to work with. Sure it might make a few extra large JSON queries that, if you're on ancient internet technology take up to half a minute to fetch, but so what? Just get a gigabit fiber connection and move closer to their servers. Are you poor or something?"

That's ridiculous to say. Not many people say that kind of stuff. But when it comes to game software, that's the norm. "You don't get it! It's blurry and requires upscaling and frame generation because the ray-tracing allows the developers to ship changes so much faster! And it's technically impressive, don't you get it?"

Who cares? As a customer, I certainly don't. Make it look and run nice. I don't care how you do it.

"It might look bad on your <console> but it's a miracle it runs at all; it even struggles on <other more expensive console>! So this is an impressive port."

No, it isn't.

Why are customers making excuses for some of the richest companies on the planet constantly in videogame land? To a degree I'll blame them for falling for marketing shenanigans and influencer clickbait tech analysis, but primarily I blame the industry for being an immature over-marketed bad-practice reinforcing mess. They get away with ***** code because the end result has fancy technology attached that doesn't actually lead to a better product for 99.9% of their customers. The remaining 0.1% is Digital Foundry and a few thousand rich people who think technical features make a game better, and that the hobby is worth the money investment to barely keep pace with the poorly made software releases.

It's *****.

Grow the ***** up. It's not your customer's responsibility to defend your awful development practices. Stop spending 60% of your budget on marketing sloppily made ***** to gullible people by borderline propagandistic means and invest 100% into making a good product, you clowns!

@OmnitronVariant tbh, I think that type of conversation is pretty common for all aspects of the internet and technology.

Person a. 'this website is so slow because of video ads'
Person b. What do you expect, the site needs to make money. Just get a faster internet connection/unlimited data.

Person a. Every time I use this app it take 3 minutes to download updates.
Person b. But you're getting new features, of course it will be slow.

Person a. My phone no longer works well for phone calls.
Person b. Just text or video chat.

People are constantly defending Apple, Google, Tesla, etc. There is nothing particularly special about game companies. Even the companies people hate get defended.

Person a. Why is Comcast destroying all my features and doubling the price?
Person b. ISPs are just naturally evil, stop complaining and get over it. Move to a different country if you don't like it.

It's a combination of brand loyalty, people being argumentative on the internet, and the idea that big companies rightfully get to do what they want (to an extent) because they're big. For the people who get more into the technical details, it's also simply different people having different priorities, much as it is with a lot of the game discussions on these forums.

I think that Game Key Cards aren't all negatives. I don't wanna be that guy, but at least you there's some positives over digital like being able to sell or give it to other people like friends of family. Physical games also tend to be cheaper by the fact that they are sold at retail stores, so its not uncommon for games to be put on clearance or something to clear them out pushing them at low prices.

I just wish that not nearly every 3rd party game on Switch 2 was a Game Key Card. If it was more restricted to games that already need a download on other consoles such as: (Hogwarts Legacy, Star Wars Outlaws, Hitman) I don't think it would be as big of a deal. It just sucks that if you like purely physical on Switch 2, your only options are digital and half digital.

I think Sonic Racing CrossWorlds & Kirby Air Riders are definitely the best upcoming racing games that I'm looking forward to.

Sonic Racing I'll get either on Switch or PS4. Kirby Air Riders I'll get when I get the Switch 2 later at some point or when the Switch 2 Lite ever comes out.

@Hapless That's a popular opinion generally speaking. It's more unpopular to actually like the remakes than hate them.

I don't get why people are so antsy about getting a Mario 40th Anniversary Direct. Like, even if we don't it's not a sign that Nintendo has FORGOTTEN about Super Mario.
