This is a tough one. However I think my final vote'll be Mario and Luigi: Dream Team - Neo Bowser Castle
Lorule Castle is an epic song, but it doesn't really capture that evil antagonist theme for me, at least when you compare it to songs used in past Zelda games for that same purpose. Both are pretty great tracks though.
As far as the new tournament goes, I'm not really sure what the theme should be, but I'm eager for it. I've considered maybe a best Intro Theme? Instead of a title theme, it would be the song that plays in some kind of cinematic sequence before you see the actual title screen. Maybe we could also include the video that plays with the song, but that could go out of the bounds of just a VGM-only contest.
I do like the idea of Best Intro theme, since its different enough. I can come up with other ideas, but they're similar to past tournaments. I'll try and see if I can think of some more...
Part of the problem is also trying to pick a theme that has no obvious winner. Like I'd like to do a best orchestral VGM but it'd need to be without Super Mario Galaxy 1/2 included.
Also I'd like to say that we should really only do double elimination if we have 32 or less entries. 64 and bigger is just too much for that, imo.
I would have never guessed Weezing was so useful until I played a HeartGold Nuzlocke! My YouTube Channel! Video game related, of course! My Pushmo Levels

How about we just have a non-Nintendo VGM tournament then?

I have a feeling this was posted in jest, but something tells me it might not be a horrible idea.
Hmm, this is a toughie of a choice especially since they're both my nominations, heh...
They're both great songs and I'm glad that either one of them will be the winner of this tourney. Lorule Castle is very adventurous, with a "This is it!" feel that becomes a bit more intimidating as it goes on and that last phase is something else! Neo Bowser Castle though, is both intimidating and screams evil from the get-go to the point of you might flinch a bit when playing the game. When I think Antagonist Base, I think of "You think you can stop me?!"-type tunes and because of that...
My vote goes to Mario and Luigi: Dream Team - Neo Bowser Castle.
As for the next tourney, I'm not sure about what could be next. I'll come back to you on that.

Only in the sense that I don't imagine anyone would go for it. Given how SMG and Xenoblade win so many of the tournaments - and all of the rest of the winners are first party Nintendo games (To be fair, this is a Nintendo site) I think it'd be awesome to have one where Nintendo games aren't allowed. It would mean more voting based on the quality of the music, since more nominations will be unknown to people. The part of these tournaments I love the most is finding great music from games I haven't played before.

This. So much this. I definitely take the tournament seriously I try to vote for ones I think are best, but when it gets down to it, the real value in these tournaments (imo) is seeing the best the community has to offer in terms of a specific category, and giving songs the recognition they deserve. I already know Super Mario Galaxy music is great, you don't need to keep telling me that; I want to see some new orchestral music!

And with a final score of 4-3, the winner of the Best Antagonist Base Theme Tournament is........
Mario & Luigi: Dream Team - Neo Bowser Castle!
As far as future tournaments go, I actually have a schedule for the next three. Next up would be Best Final Boss Theme followed by Best Credits Theme then a Best Non-Nintendo Theme. If everyone is alright with that, then we'll proceed as such, if not then we'll work something else out. In terms of other ideas for tournaments, I have a few interesting ones that will take place on the Special Tournament thread as soon as the Mario Kart one is wrapped up over there.
So can we start nominating now or are we waiting for some more input? Or just taking a break?

I guess we should specify that this should apply to songs that play only on the final boss, not ones that play on all bosses - lest we get basically the same nominations as the other Boss Music tournament. No reason we cant start nominating now. If we end up needing more/less I'll adjust my list. :3
Sorry guys, I've had a busy week I've just been putting this thread off. Nominations for the Best Final Boss Theme are now open, four per-person to start off. Have fun nominating!
I'm disappointed how many of my potential nominations are shot down because they are part of a chain of end-game boss fights, but not the final boss itself (e.g. Grodus and Bowser in PM:TTYD). Darn it Yggdrasil Core, you ruined everything!

Oh man! You guys nailed all of my nominations, already! Yoshi's Island, Bravely Default, FFVII, everything I considered upon setting this theme has been taken, already. Guess I'll nominate these, since they deserve a chance, too.
Super Mario 64 - Ultimate Koopa {possibly one of the most surprisingly ignored pieces of final boss awesomeness. I never hear anyone being this up, when talking about final boss themes, but it's definitely one of the greats.) Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock - The Devil Went Down to Geo... (Probably one of the more unexpected entries we'll see, this piece would be a good final boss theme in just about any kind of game, but in this case, it kind of IS the final boss. Covering both the theme and the challenge of GH3's final boss, this Louie Ouimette cover of the old country and blues classic will be on my list.) MadWorld - So Cold {While I'd prefer to put Look Pimpin' here, it doesn't quute suit the rules, but that doesn't hurt this song at all. It still sts the mood for a final showdown, especially since it comes after the phase where the final boss is just toying with you. This theme let's you know that he's getting serious, and if you underestimate him, you soon find yourself on the ground, black, white, and a lot of red.) Super Meat Boy - Carmeaty Burana (Super Meat Boy. Need I say more?)
