Picked up my comics today (didn't post for the last 2 weeks)
This Week: Fatale #1 Abe Sapien: The Devil Does Not Jest #1 Abe Sapien: The Devil Does Not Jest #2 Catwoman #5 DCU Presents #5 Wonder Woman #5 Daredevil #8 Nightwing #5 Demon Knights #5 Supergirl #5 Birds of Prey #3 Birds of Prey #4 Birds of Prey #5 Captain Atom #5 Batwoman #5 Batman #5
I know I spent too much money, but whatevs. Batman was beautiful. Haven't read the rest yet.
Still rockin' the GameBoy brick. Yes, I do believe it's portable. It fits in my satchel.
So among my usual books this week, i picked up Suberboy #5 (a series i haven't read any of thus far). Why? CAITLIN FAIRCHILD! I had no idea they were bringing her into the DCU proper!
Yeah, I read the ish today and gathered that she's been in the series all along. Normally i wouldn't have any interest in picking up Superboy, but i may have to go back and grab some of the earlier issues.
Meanwhile, the Spidey-Daredevil crossover was very cool. Fave moment was towards the end of the Daredevil ish, DD and Black Cat are making out (unaware that Spidey is off in the distance and sees them) — Spidey's reaction line, with a scowl on his mask: "I think this is my super villan origin."
That's what i've been hearing about DD. I've never been a big DD fan personally (not really for any particular reason — i've read his stuff here and there going back to the Frank Miller days, just never really got into his books), but i may start picking the book up now, even though i'm usually reluctant to start collecting a new series since i buy enough titles each month as it is. Mission accomplished with the cross-over, Marvel!
@shingi_70 The issue was interesting enough to me to subscribe. Issue 1 was a tad slow, but it seems to just be getting things rolling. I'm very excited to see what's next. The art was gorgeous, and gave off a very crime noire kind of vibe, which is great for the style of story.
All-Star Western #5 Justice League #5 Voodoo #5 Teen Titans #5 I, Vampire #5 Green Lantern New Guardians #5 The Flash #5 Batman: The Dark Knight #5 Aquaman #5

I'm cool with it. I love watchmen, but i don't think its this scared cow anymore. aOwn the special edition of the movie and the book. going to ask for the absolute edition for a birthday gift.
as far as this is concerned I'm just de tiding do i want to trade wait or read them now. I'm def going to be licking up the darwyn Cooke and rorsarch books.
on another note ill be picking up my weekly comics tomorrow consisting of
I'm reserved right now in my judgment of the Watchmen prequels, with a lean towards not liking the idea at all. Alan Moore's obviously pissed about it, but he's always pissed. I think what i like least about it right now is two things — First, it's an obvious cash-grab. Second — the whole core concept of Watchmen was that it was very anti-status quo when it came to the superhero genre, and by releasing prequels, it works to kind of turn Watchmen into what it was working to subvert.
But the books could be good, and in the spirit of the original (especially with the decent writers involved). That's why i'm mostly reserving judgment for now.
the way i look at it going by the watchmen Graphic novel and absolute sales these are going to sale and get some nice media hyper from the press. the fans are going to pick it up for the creative teams, and everyone else for the name. DC may lose to marvel in monthlies but they demolish everyone in trades which are most important.
also this means no getting the absolute watchmen as i expect a revised one next year with all the prequel material along with the original one.
WAT!
Hey check out my awesome new youtube channel shingi70 where I update weekly on the latest gaming and comic news form a level headed perspective.
@shingi_70 Since you're pretty much the DC go-to guy, i'll ask you this ... have you been reading Suicide Squad? I haven't picked it up at all, but am thinking of grabbing ish #6 since they're going to be doing the new/revised/whatever'd Harley origin/backstory arc ... is the series good, and would #6 make a decent jump-on point?
BTW, i ended up picking up Superboy #1-4 after grabbing #5 ... definitely gonna stick with the book for a while. It's the first time i've actually been interested in a Superboy that wasn't Superboy-Prime (i know a lot of people hate/hated his character, but i enjoyed his insanity ). Besides, i can never seem to resist anything Caitlin Fairchild-related (despite how bad some of the later incarnations of the various Gen13 series were).
@the_shpydar: I don't know about Shingi, but I've been following a large percentage of the new 52 (i get somewhere between 40 and 45 issues a month). Suicide Squad isn't bad in my opinion, and it gives off a Secret Six vibe. It even uses some of the same characters. The new character development is well thought out, and pretty interesting. It's totally worth picking up, though you should definitely check out Secret Six before you head into that, because it's spectacular.
