@EllaTheQueen6 it’s a holiday thing used to count up to Christmas (or other special dates, but it’s usually Christmas, hence “advent”), every day in the “calendar” is usually either a pocket or box with a small gift.
So every day, you get a trinket or treat.
Of course, it involves some discipline in the sense that you must only unbox one thing per day…
@Eel Ahhh, hat makes even more sense. I thought you were just getting over festive (All I Want For Christmas is You is already blasting at my local Meijers so I'm going insane)

@Tyranexx Yup! It is amusing to see since kid me always chose the occupation that allowed buying a lot of supplies too, lol.
Even though I'm not big on candy, I do eat cookies or brownies from time to time. For me, I rather have something sweet I enjoy rather than just have it for the sake of having it, if that makes any sense.
@Moffo Lizard looks like he's ready to take on the final boss of whatever game he's playing.
@Eel@EllaTheQueen6 I love advent calendars. Got a Trolls one that has small Trolls figures and stickers underneath each day. Looking forward to opening up one everyday in December.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
@Sunsy the one I ordered is Harry Potter/magical creatures themed. I fully expect most of it to be like stickers or stationery, but it’s my first advent calendar so I’m looking forward to it!
@Eel Nice, have fun opening it. I also had one back when Trolls World Tour was new, which featured candy in it. I still have it in a safe spot, albeit I cleaned out the candy tray.
I think I had a Frozen themed one at one point too, again the one with candy in it.

Yup, even going for a fourth time now. I have a ticket to see it again next Monday. Really want to enjoy this in theaters as much as I can, especially after Trolls World Tour had to skip theaters. Going on my own again next time. Nice, I would always play as Yoshi whenever I was a kid in Mario Kart games. Yoshi was the reason why I wanted to play Yoshi's Story too, and I had the two Game Boy Yoshi games. Indeed.
Indeed, for me, I'm critical with Nintendo Switch Online. If I'm paying for it, I want the servers for games to be better, and have more regular NSO game drops on the classic systems, or even more games that aren't just the obscure ones. Though some obscure games are interesting and fun. I want the service to be better now that it's a paid service. That is a fine way to look at Mario Kart Tour, I think I would have the same problem with Mario Kart Tour, and I have bought a few microtransactions in a few F2P games I like (mainly Apex Legends to get a Christmas skin because I like the game). When it comes to random items, it feels like gambling since you don't know what you're getting, vs getting a character skin up front.
Yup, recommending Trolls: Holiday In Harmony since I think you'd like it knowing how much you like the Christmas season. Yeah, I was very surprised once I got the hang of it how far I made Mario go, or places he couldn't reach before (I see you 3-up Moon on Yoshi's Island 1 of Super Mario World. ).
I think that could work out, worst case scenario, they could make an emulated collection, but the added resolution would make it feel like a remaster, and see more of the level. Kinda like how widescreen made the mobile Sonic ports have more to it. Yup, I think I contributed to the rise of Metroid games on the Wii U and 3DS since I bought Metroid Zero Mission and Metroid II at the time. Congrats on finishing Fusion. Yeah, Pokemon Red and Blue were black and white, even on Game Boy Color. They would have either a blue shade or a red/pink shade depending on the version on GBC. I use to set the GBC's green theme (the settings to change colors in old GB games) since it made the grass green, and the water almost looked blue. Pokemon Yellow has color, but it was B&W for its Japanese release since it came out before the GBC there.
Yeah, it was basically a pocket sized SNES... which made Sonic 1 GBA, Phantasy Star Collection, and Sega Smash Pack even odder to have on GBA, lol. Yeah, after Disney+, they stopped vaulting movies.
Nice, I have my tree out already, I just need to fan out the branches, and start decorating the day after Thanksgiving. I also need to decorate the small tree in my bedroom. That sounds like an awesome ornament, I'm guessing Super Mario 3D World inspired. That sounds really nice, I might set up the train too, I just need new batteries in it.
Yeah, here's a pic of what I got. The theater gave these to everyone who bought a ticket, in addition to an ICEE to drink during the movie (my theater even had the ICEE machine decorated with Trolls on it). Figure was a blind bag, so I got Baby Branch, my friend got Viva. The lanyard is nice, it's the movie poster with a 3D effect to it. They called it a "fan event." Of course I wore my one of my favorite Trolls shirts to it too.
Nice, that's cool. You really like that movie, huh? Today, I saw Wish in theaters a day early, and without spoiling anything, I really liked it. My local AMC happened to have the movie up a day earlier than its actual release date so I lucked out! I remember Yoshi's Story, I used to have that game when I was young, and I do kinda like it actually... I also played it for a bit on NSO.
Yeah, there's certainly room for improvement. There are some Nintendo games that could use better online for sure... I'm looking right at you, Smash Bros. Hopefully, the next game's online won't be a PowerPoint presentation, lol. I'd certainly like more well-known games to come to NSO as well... those obscure games that keep popping up, I don't think a lot of people would be too eager to try, lol. I know that the YouTube channel Good Vibes Gaming has a series called NSO Game Club, where they talk about various games throughout NSO in a random order. So we could try out what we call "hidden gems" that way. Yeah exactly, it's why I don't like a lot of mobile games. Personally, I'd rather just buy a game, and be done with it. Plus DLC if it's worth it.
Thank you for your recommendation... you're certainly right, I'm a huge fan of Christmastime. I think Holiday in Harmony is on Hulu... which we do have! I wanna try to watch it, actually. I'll definitely think of you when I see it. You're inspiring me to check out the Trolls movies now!
True, an emulated port of those games would probably do just fine I think. I'd imagine they would be on NSO so that the multiplayer modes could be preserved. Thanks, I've finished Fusion twice - the second time was when the game came out on NSO's GBA app. Yeah I remember that, I liked how the early Pokemon games were all red or blue, depending on what version you're playing.
I don't have my tree out just yet, though I'm certainly eager to bring it down, lol. That's cool you have your own little tree, mine's already holiday-themed right from the get-go. Yep, my Cat Mario ornament is indeed Super Mario 3D World inspired. That'd be cool, I think I have all the batteries for my train. I will need two different kinds since mine has a remote control. Here's my Christmas train set on my bedroom shelf, by the way... choo choo!
It's a Mickey Mouse holiday train, and I even made it so that it looks like Mario and Princess Peach are about to hop aboard. This is the train that I'll be placing under my tree!
That's a cool Trolls movie haul you got there. Similarly, when I got to see Wish, I wore my Mickey Mouse tee to it since it is a Disney movie, after all!
@MarioLover92 We're opposites there; I originally started studying game design along with programming, and I quite enjoy the logical thinking and problem solving of the latter. And when I discovered I didn't mind the business side of it either. Graphics and modeling...I'd definitely need help. I think I have amazing ideas in my head, but it's difficult to translate them from my head onto a physical or digital art space. At least to my impatient, picky satisfaction. I actually recently unearthed a hastily written concept I came up with shortly after I played BotW regarding a pirate Rito. I might attempt that at some point in the future.
Some hazard and enemy placement in the earlier Sonic games - and this is a general complaint about many platformers from that area - was cheap. It's also why the Mega Man platformers haven't clicked with me either despite trying a couple of titles from the original and X series. I much prefer Mario and pals, ignoring the masochist fest that is The Lost Levels. XD I think Battle Network 4 did have some sort of tournament plot if I recall, but that was in different parts of the world and not Den City IIRC...though it has been awhile. The liberation missions in MMBN5 made the game different enough that I could see it affecting sales, but IMO both versions of MMBN6 (especiallyCybeast Gregar) were a nice swansong for the series mechanically and visually. If I were to rank the games - ignoring versions - they'd be 3 = 6 (depending on what's compared) > 2 > 5 > 1 > 4.
Lol, we are definitely opposites! I wish I've gotten into programming... for some reason it just didn't click with me. I'd get a bit frustrated with it too. Not only would I get overwhelmed with the amount of code that I would need to make, but sometimes I would make a mistake without realizing, and the whole program wouldn't run. Then I wouldn't know what went wrong and how to fix it. One of my programming instructors told me a while back that I should take it one step at a time, though. Which I did do a lot of the time. But gosh... those errors keep getting me at times!
As for drawing and art, I've always done still life, which does help me out quite a bit. It's how I was taught in my drawing classes, too, though I've had stylized elements in my drawings, too. Been thinking of making a drawing that's based on Merry Mountain, one of the new Mario Kart courses. I absolutely love that course. <3
Ah yeah the Mega Man platformers are tough as nails, as well. Just look at all those spikes, too... just touch them, and you're done for. I've lost count how many times I've seen Mega Man get blown up while I played through the games, lol! Ah yeah, Lost Levels is an insanely difficult game. Yeah, BN4 did have a tournament plot. I do remember liking BN5's liberation missions, though it's been a long time since I last played that game. I've only played the Falzar version of BN6, I'll definitely check out the Gregar one when I get the Legacy Collection on Switch. That sounds like a good ranking, I know that BN3 is the fan favorite.

Favorite game: Super Mario 3D World
AKA MarioVillager92. Ask if you want to be Switch friends with me, but I want to get to know you first. Thanks! ❤️
Yo, I have watched WISH from Disney at my local Cinema XXI.
It was a good surprise to see Disney back to animated movie again.
The art style for WISH was unique, kinda like cel shaded painting art.
The character design was like combination of Frozen + Lilo & Stitch.
Also, I found a lot of Disney franchise reference during credit roll and they are sorted from their year created from Snow White in 1937 to 2020's era
I gave it score 7 from 10 and I want to watch again for 2nd time next week.
@Sunsy
I can assure you WISH by Disney is a worthy movie to watch.
I watched that movie just now.
It was good movie and there were a lot of Easter Eggs from Disney franchises.
