@Sunsy Oh that's cool! I played Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with my family today. Funny you mentioned that, since I finished both Super Mario 3D World and Bowser's Fury, I decided to replay 3D Land for old time's sake! I made it up to the special worlds.

@MarioLover92 Sounds like fun. Yeah, that actually is what made me want to play 3D Land. All the talk about 3D World + Bowser's Fury reminded me I have this in my backlog, so I started playing it. Played for a bit and made it to World 5 tonight. I love how it has all these nods to Super Mario Bros. 3.
The resident Trolls superfan! Saw Trolls Band Together via early access and absolutely loved it!
@Sunsy Yeah me too! Its main theme sounds similar to SMB3's main theme as well. It's a pretty easy game (probably the easiest 3D Mario game IMO), but it's definitely the most chill one. I've been making a Mario drawing as well, it's not finished yet but I did at least start it on Mario Day.

Have you guys ever watched or read or played something that you consistently thought wasn't very good, but at the same time was just fun and entertaining regardless? I just watched an anime called Arifureta: From Commonplace to World's Strongest. And "Not good, but fun and entertaining" was like my constant reaction. It's short, only 13 episodes (although season 2 is supposedly being made). But despite every episode having like, legit issues, bad CGI monsters and poor pacing mostly, somehow the overall package of the show just was enjoyable to watch. I laughed a bunch and found myself really liking the stupid but also refreshing cast.
It wasn't the kind of show I'll remember for years as having blown me away - it didn't. And honestly in a couple days I'll probably already have forgotten the names of like the whole cast. And yet it's a show that when season 2 drops, I'll absolutely watch it without a second thought.
I just found it weird how I consistently found it both a bad show that I also thoroughly enjoyed it and want more. I guess it's like eating junk food that you know is not good for you. But it's still enjoyable in the moment and if someone give you more, you'd probably eat it happily.
@Heavyarms55 Death Stranding on PS4, except I thought that game was a masterpiece from the get-go. It was so polarising but I always felt like it was a very experimental game that was too new for people to universally love.
Sometimes I'll 2nd guess my negative opinion on something or someone...and then I'll be proven entirely correct for not liking them. I was right. Go me!
Late replies, folks. Got home late yesterday evening (Adulting + raid hour in PoGo) and spent the rest of my night doing chores around my house lol. Most of my hearts were spent.
Also, happy belated Mar10 Day!
@TheJGG Many of the levels in SM64 are indeed fantastic! The 3D camera, from what I understand, was a novelty when the game first released in '96. But it DEFINITELY hasn't aged well. XD It's not terrible per se, but at times I felt like I was fighting with it to even properly play the game.
As for that last paragraph....I haven't played Ratchet & Clank; I was comparing the princess situations in the Mario and Zelda series. I feel that more recent Zelda entries portray Princess Zelda as a strong character who doesn't just sit around and wait for the hero to save her. She pulls some of her own weight. Whereas Peach's continued abductions by Bowser are a running joke at this point; heck, some of the Mario RPGs I've played poke fun at it! It's like she just sits around waiting for the next abduction. I do realize Peach isn't always the damsel in distress if games like Super Mario Bros. 2 and Super Mario 3D World are anything to go by, but those seem to be few and far between.
@Anti-MatterRatchet & Clank really does sound like an interesting series! I've had a passing interest on and off, but for the most part I've never owned the platforms the games appear on.
I am really glad that you're trying out different games and trying to expand your horizons. I have long-running game series I enjoy, but I also like to try out new games too. I spend time researching them if one catches my interest to see if it's for me; due to limited time, I'm pickier about what games I do pick up these days.
Yeah, Mario isn't fully voiced other than the occasional word or phrase here or there. I'm not personally bothered by that, but I do agree that some characters in the right settings do benefit from a more fleshed out personality, with or without voice acting. I do occasionally revisit Mario games, but it's very rare that I try for 100% completion. Whether you go back to play them is up to you. It's your time after all!
@MarioLover92 Yep. With that incident and a couple of others involving toys and loaned books, I don't think many people would blame my wariness about letting people borrow or handle my things lol. I still allow it, but I'm very selective about the people who can. For example, your hands have to be clean before handling my comtrollers. I don't need hand cheese, thanks.
I firmly believe that if SMG 1 and 2 were first released today, the second game would have been highly anticipated DLC. Super Mario Galaxy 2 is an excellent game, but one that, in hindsight, was clearly made of concepts that weren't fully realized for the first game and shelved for the time being. In fact, I believe an interview years ago confirmed this.
The plan is to pick up Super Mario 3D All-Stars sometime next week. Though I kinda doubt I'll get around to playing the collection for awhile lol. If it weren't a limited release, I'd wait a bit longer to grab it.
@Tyranexx Yeah that’s the phrase I was thinking about. Fighting the camera is an interesting idea but because it’s unintentional it’s been pretty awful.
Princess Zelda’s had a fascinating development over the course of the Zelda series. She started her series as another Peach, a damsel waiting to be rescued, doing absolutely nothing to further the story apart from her getting kidnapped. Then in Ocarina of Time this changed, establishing her as a character who is very capable under the right circumstances. Her alter ego Sheik is very stoic and tough, much unlike Zelda herself. In Spirit Tracks she played a significant role in the story, and by controlling Phantoms she proved to be a very strong character mentally, as well as a very competent fighter. In Skyward Sword she starts off as Link’s childhood friend, and while she is kidnapped she escapes. She ends up willingly sealing herself away for thousands of years just to stop Demise’s reincarnation. And of course in Breath of the Wild she voluntarily manually kept Gabon sealed for a hundred years.
@Tyranexx
Oh, btw.
Do you have PS2 and PS3 machines ?
I think you better consider both of them if you want to expand your gaming horizons and try out Ratchet & Clank games.
Avoid All 4 One and QForce on PS3 for my recommendation.
Oh, you can also consider Sly Cooper PS2 and PS3 version. You won't believe if Sly Cooper Thieves in Time PS3 has beautiful 3D environments and cell shaded style characters.
Let me breakdown the characteristic voices from the trio of Sly Cooper gangs included their frenemy Inspector Carmelita Montoya Fox. Sly's voice (The thief raccoon) was very smooth, calm and romantic, ladykiller type. Murray's voice (The wrestler pink Hippo) was loud, naive, a little bit stiff and like to use muscle than brain. Carmelita's voice (The inspector fox) was very sassy, serious and loud (voiced by Grey Delisle in Thieves in Time). Bentley's voice (The genius hacker turtle) was kinda like Tom Kenny's voice but rasper and pretty raw. He's a horrible singer on series 3 (Honour Among Thieves) when he sing La La La La opera style against Octavio the Lion. You will laugh when you watch this scene. 😂
