@1UP_MARIO @Snatcher
But DDR on N64 has very few songs with limited difficulty scale (1 - 5 stars)
Compare with DDR Disney Mix PS1 with tons of Disney Eurobeat songs and 3 difficulty for each songs (Basic, Trick, Maniac).

@Anti-Matter You don't have to find all the Yo-kai; that's completely up to you. Though some side quests do require recruiting a certain Yo-kai to complete them. I didn't find them all, but some of the side quests are worth your while and may reward you with items or unlock certain things.

So you prefer Ratchet & Clank over the Mario series? I do admit the damsel in distress situation gets a bit old at times; I MUCH prefer how the Legend of Zelda series has progressed with how Princess Zelda has been handled from Ocarina of Time onward. I haven't played Ratchet & Clank, so I can't really comment on the series. But I have heard it's decent.

@MarioLover92 Haha, no prob on the late reply! RL hit me like a train last week. I haven't been able to crawl the forums much and keyed down posts on the main site.

I've dealt with drained battery saves, namely with Game Boy games like Pokemon Crystal. It's still perfectly playable, but it doesn't retain any new saves for long lol. I've also had a game save corrupted by some kid who took out a cartridge while I was playing my GBC on the bus one time. Then I lost a lot of PC saves as a kid when my mom's old Windows XP crashed. I still have the memories, I guess.

I'm not sure if I ever drew on walls; I grew up in a log cabin, so dark wooden walls aren't exactly crayon-friendly lol. Mom was pretty strict about where we were allowed to color or play with chalk.

I love Super Mario Galaxy, with both SMG2 and SMO close behind. SMG wins out over its successor for having more of a story (for a Mario game), introduces Rosalina, and I prefer the Comet Observatory over Starship Mario. As for Sunshine, I'm curious enough to give it a shot! Besides, it's the only 3D Mario I haven't played by this point.

@TheJGG I briefly played Super Mario 64 DS and wasn't a huge fan of the controls, playing as Yoshi, and the minigames were very familiar since I'd played New Super Mario Bros. not long before (Which admittedly isn't fair as NSMB came later). I enjoyed the N64 version on the Wii U VC a lot more. In many aspects, it has aged pretty well. My two main problems were 1. The camera controls and 2. Most of the floors in the game must be coated in butter. Mario is VERY slippery at times.

It's a fair criticism that Galaxy is a bit slow at times, particularly in the sections where you have to move Mario between stars. It's also somewhat linear, but linearity doesn't bother me as long as you get some freedom.

Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet - The Indigo Disk, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)

@Tyranexx I agree, the camera was one of the most awful experiences ever. The level design was fantastic but the camera was very primitive, and threatened the immersion of the game.

Also, I'm interested in your comment about how the Zelda series has improved the damsel situation for Zelda. How so, and how does it compare to Ratchet and Clank?

@Tyranexx
From my gaming experience about Ratchet & Clank games, i thought Tools of Destruction followed by Quest for Booty and the sequel A Crack in Time were the Best. The storyline in A Crack in Time made me want to show my compassion toward Ratchet as he lost his father and i felt bad to see General Azimuth suddenly attacked Ratchet for not accepting the usage of Time Power, in the end of final battle he sacrificed his life to protect Ratchet from the time machine blast.
The only Ratchet & Clank games i do not really like are All 4 One (Boring locked camera angle action adventure game, like Disney Universe games) & QForce / Full Frontal Assault (Very hard Tower Defense style game). Ratchet Deadlocked was okay but pretty hardcore, Size Matters & Secret Agent Clank were the worst in graphic (ported from PSP to PS2) but the gameplay was decent enough. Into the Nexus was okay but quite creepy at some places, very few planets to visit and less weapons than previous series.

It's crazy to think that long time before i didn't even have any interest with Ratchet & Clank games until i played A Crack in Time, Tools of Destruction, PS4 version and the Trilogy from PS2, it changed my mind forever. Then, i dared myself to get into games that i have never played and knew before and i got quite a lot different experiences. Last time, i suddenly picked up Jak & Daxter Trilogy PS3, Cars 2, Sly Cooper Thieves in Time PS3, Sly Cooper Collection PS3, etc the games that i didn't even in my radar before but i changed my mind after i played them and they were surprisingly good enough. I showed my most compassion to Sly Cooper games as i felt bad to see Sly lost his father (His father got killed by criminals), Bentley got injured and unable to walk permanently after being crushed by Clock La head (He used modified wheel chair to walk started from series 3), Bentley's broken heart after his girlfriend Penelope from series 3 suddenly betrayed him on Thieves in Time afyer she joined in Le Paradox.

I still like Mario games but recently i found myself rarely revisit Mario games after i finished them. I didn't continue the post game of Odyssey once i finished the storyline in January 2018, i still think twice to revisit Mario Galaxy / 3D World Wii U / 3D Land after i finished the storyline. I felt the places in Mario games were cute and beautiful but wasn't really fun to replay again. The environment design on 3D Mario games felt more like American Ninja Warrior / Takeshi Castle style rather than Natural environment free roaming games, the reason i like Ratchet & Clank and Sly Cooper games more than 3D Mario games. Mario was still never talk even until Odyssey but Ratchet and Sly talked a lot with their personality since from their first game. If Mario finally talk and have some conversations in newer games (Not just only It's me Mario / Woo Hoo / Wee Hee / Whoaaah / Wahoo / etc), it was like a baby step. Sony / 3rd party games did better than Nintendo.

@Tyranexx Ouch. Some kid took out the game cartridge you were in the middle of playing? That was mean of them. Way back in my elementary school days I brought in a Tails action figure (along with a Sonic one), and while I was outside some kid showed up, grabbed it, and threw it on the ground. Thankfully it was okay, but yeah...that wasn't cool. lol

And yeah, I like SMG1 just a little bit more than SMG2. It's definitely the more innovative one and it left more of an impact, while its sequel upped the challenge and added Yoshi (and some cool new power-ups). Both are phenomenal - these games, as well as Super Mario Odyssey and Super Mario 3D World, are all my favorite 3D Mario games. SMS is definitely worth a playthrough; I've seen some people say that it's their favorite 3D Mario as well. But yeah, I do recommend picking up 3D All-Stars as I'm pretty unsure if they'll have those 3 games as separate downloads on the eShop or something. Really wish it wasn't time-limited...hopefully they'll bring 3D All-Stars back or provide alternative means to play them.

Stopping by to say Happy MAR10 Day! Just played some Super Mario Party mini-games before the day got too busy (I figure a couple mini-games would be quick to play), will also be wearing my Peach shirt since it's one of the few Mario themed things I have to wear.

Hope everyone plays one of their Mario favorites today.

@Sunsy I almost forgot it was MAR10 day, because NL didn't run many articles about it, and also because Nintendo didn't offer European eShop discounts. Blasphemy!

Anyhow, happy MAR10 day, hope you've celebrated in a satisfying way.

@TheJGG I did. I have some chores to do so I may play another Mario game later. Haha, that was perfect timing, I just commented on the article too.

@Sunsy Saw it, and it's a case of absolutely awful timing from me. Usually I tend to have decent foresight so this is a strange fluke. I doubt it'll happen again, unless I complain about the lack of Zelda Anniversary content and something gets announced.

I was thinking on September 3rd 2020, tomorrow's a year since the last Direct, God it's been so boring. That was the last time my timing was that bad.

I played DDR SuperNOVA USA PS2 on MAR10 Day. 😅
I got the game yesterday from Ebay and i have to unlock all the unlockable songs quickly from Stellar Master Mode.
I have unlocked planet Nitro and i saw MAX 300 Super Max Me Mix and Healing-D-Vision songs were featured on planet Nitro.

@Anti-Matter Sounds like a good time, even if DDR: Mario Mix sounds good for Mario Day.

@MarioLover92 Same to you. I'd say it's a good one. Played a few Super Mario Party mini-games and wore my Peach shirt today. Thinking about playing more Super Mario 3D Land sometime after dinner.
