@StephanDLW I definitely wouldn't be where I am now without some supportive family, friends, and the professionals in my life. It took a lot of effort for me to even admit that I needed help. I'm trying to work through everything with lifestyle changes, self-talk, and just letting some things go and not agonizing over them all the time. Some of my problems are genetic, though some of my school years weren't the best either.
@Woomy_NNYes Now if we're referring to group chat in games.... (JK)
@StephanDLW
Oh, i am 35 years old. 😀
Working as school librarian, drawing teacher and substitute teacher at Primary School.
I play video games after working time and during weekend.
I still single and live with my Mom, my siblings and my Auntie.
Since i am single, i can keep pursuing my gaming hobby.
I have a lot of video games, both Nintendo and Sony machines.
I have GBA games, NDS, 3DS, Gamecube games, Wii, Wii U, PS1 games, PS2, PS3, PS4, PSP.
I started my gaming hobby since 16 July 2013. On that year it was my first time to purchase original games and video game machines because used to be i played pirated games on modded / pirated machines when i still young until and haven't thought about to buy original games and video game machines.
Oh, i forgot to mentioned if i was from Indonesia, lived in Surabaya (East Java island).
"I got bullied because of my sexual orientation and because I was a very timid lad, unable to defend myself."
Oh, i can feel your fear.
Speaking about sexual orientation, actually....... i also have something similar with you. 😳
I prefer muscular six pack dudes than sexy gals with big boobs.
And that's why i play K-1 PS2 + GBA (Kickboxing in Japan) for shirtless kickboxer, LEGO CITY Undercover with shirtless six pack Chase McCain, The Sims 4 PS4 for shirtless six pack dudes.
@Tyranexx
Speaking about watching nature, i like to find and take care some caterpillar from the trees. 😀
I have studied different kind of caterpillar from their habitat, food diets, their pupa position (upside down = Nymphalidae = 4 legs, straight up = Papilionidae = 6 legs) and their wings shape.
I always put them inside small plastic jar and give them some leaves they eat and watch their growth from caterpillar until become butterfly. I released them after 1 day they have get out from their pupa.
Sometimes, i got some caterpillar that will transform into moth.
Moth caterpillar will build their cocoon with silk thread, something that differ between butterfly and moth.
@Tyranexx What with all this talking about certain ages and validated opinions, I feel like I kind of should be insulted, and cry out in indignation, but honestly, I just couldn't be bothered, seeing as I ain't no hipster or part of the #metoo bandwagon crowd...
On a totally unrelated side note: I see that a certain someone has once again found a handle to peddle shirtless six pack guys...
Well, I'm in a forgiving mood today, so let's cater to that, then. But obviously, we ARE going to keep it game-related:
This isn't GrinderLife, after all...
@StephanDLW
Oh, one more thing....
I like to play Girlie games too such as Style Savvy / JS Girls / AKB48 + Me / Cooking Mama and watching America's Next Top Model, Cinderella 2015, Beauty and the Beast 2017 (Walt Disney). 😁
@Heavyarms55 When I watch something with a japanese announcer on TV or for sports, I hear "mashta" a lot. (sounds like mosh-tah) I know my question could be terribly vague, so forgive me. But I thought I'd ask, just in case it's an easy answer. Is mashta a conjugation or a word? -Like I said, if my question is too vague, you can say so, and leave it at that.
I only know a few Japanese sayings, not much else. But I hear that word so much, I've been wondering.
@StephanDLW I was bullied in part of grade school/junior high primarily for weight reasons. I went to a very small school and, while I think that helped me academically due to the smaller student body, there also weren't very many targets. The quiet kid who liked reading, animals, and video games and generally kept to themselves? Bingo. My main tormentor was a boy two grades above mine. Some kids naturally went along with it who probably wouldn't have otherwise. For the longest time I had issues distinguishing between playful jests and genuine derogatory teasing. Most of it was verbal, but there were a small handful of times when it was physical.
I had a few issues in high school as well, though they weren't as bad. The primary problems there is that I was (and still am, something I'm working on) very hard on myself for what I perceive as academic and work failures. I did very well academically but am by no means a genius; I've had to work for everything.
Another issue too is/was my general preference for what some perceive as "kiddie" games (which many Nintendo games fall into for some people) combined with my gender (I'm female); the kids who played video games were generally guys who played the dudebro sort of games like Call of Duty and Halo. Not a lot of people at that time in my life that I knew played games that I cared for. The only exception was a small group of us who played World of Warcraft for awhile, but that fell apart my senior year as we all became busy with scholarship applications and preparing for college.
I learned I wasn't alone on the gaming preferences, at least; there was a group of like-minded students in my college program.
@Anti-Matter Isn't it amazing to watch a life change like that? I haven't done anything with caterpillars recently, but one teacher in the grade school I went to would order some caterpillars every year so that the class could watch them gradually become butterflies. The Kindergarten teacher also incubated chicken eggs in the spring.
@ThanosReXXX XD I'm assuming you realize this already, but that wasn't intended to be a blanket term. Obviously everyone is different!
Funny that you link a Dragon Quest graphic. I'm having to deal with one of those freaky hunkazoids whenever I need weapons in DQ VIII....
@Woomy_NNYes Yes, it's the polite past tense verb form.
@Tyranexx Yeah that's the danger with downvotes, but I do think downvotes need to matter - otherwise you end up with a situation like YouTube comments where you get some horrible comment calling for the murder of immigrants or something (I've seen this) just phrased "politely" with hundreds of up-votes and no measure of any disagreement because the down votes do nothing.
@ThanosReXXX I know people like to say "Engrish" but I don't like that because it mocks something Japanese people have no control over - the Japanese language lacks a separate L sound and when you don't grow up with that distinction, you have to train yourself very hard to hear it. I also prefer the way JapEnglish sounts "Ja-pein-glish" and makes it more specific to Japanese and English where Engrish could be other mix ups. Just my opinion on the idea.

@StephanDLW Thanks, same to you! It's a difficult process - particularly when one hasn't been comfortable in their own skin for some time - but I'm gradually getting there. Some days/weeks/months are a lot easier than others. Part of what's helped is that my job situation has turned around in the last several months; I felt that I was stuck in a dead-end job for awhile there. Long story.
I thankfully avoided many of the more dangerous behaviors of that age group - I wasn't nor will ever be a partier as it isn't a setting I'm comfortable in - and did have a couple of really close friends in high school that were there for me. I'm still in contact with both, though I don't hear from one much as she's in the Navy and currently overseas. The main issue was they were in the grade above mine (man I wish I had made it into that grade as there were more kids that I could relate to, but alas I was born just short of the cutoff date), so my senior year was pretty lonely.
@Heavyarms55 That would be a case where the downvote system would be warranted IMO. I'm not saying the upvote/downvote system is bad in general; however it is a system, just like any other tool, that can, is, and will be abused.

YES!! I've been dying to figure that out for at least six months. That totally makes sense. Thanks @Heavyarms55 ! Yeah, I kept hearing that at a bmx ramp competition, too, and since "bmx baiku" ramp is debuting at Tokyo 2020, I knew I'd hear it more. Arigatogozaimasu!
(forgive the bad spelling)
@StephanDLW I think there’s a great divide between thought today, too. It is absolutely acceptable to have differing opinions, if not encouraged. That’s what allows everyone to have different points of view, after all. The self-esteem angle is interesting, since it could be pursued that someone not confident in their own opinion will instead try to denigrate another’s. No matter how you swing the sword, interpersonal and social discord skills are certainly a rare commodity on the internet and in many facets of life nowadays.

@Tyranexx Indeed, popping on and off the forums have been a good thing. I do post comments too, but tend to avoid some of the more controversial articles because of it.
@StephanDLW You're welcome. That's fine, I do have some social media I use, but I mostly use it with close friends and family.
@Sunsy I sometimes avoid the controversial articles, but I do occasionally post a silly quip or neutral opinion in them; I just don't read any of the word soup preceding my comment.

@Woomy_NNYes Happy to help. For the record "mas" is polite present tense for verbs.
@Tyranexx Yeah that's a thing. And it's one of the more abuse-able systems. But I prefer it to the situation on YouTube where it gives the illusion that the most hateful, argumentative and vile comments are the most popular... Or at least pushed to the top because of all the replies they get.

@Heavyarms55 A fair point; some systems are better implemented than others. Tbh I don't pay attention to comment sections on YouTube much outside of game trailers and video game OSTs that I listen to. I haven't seen a comment in recent memory there that's raised my eyebrows, but I have ran across them. Some of those people have gotta just be blatant trolls....

You guys see my Rocket League post today? I single handedly got Rocket League to fix the lighting in their "Item Shop" where you buy cars, skins, wheels, explosions, etc. with earned points. Emailed them last week, because its too dark to see the car decals & wheels on a daily basis. An update rolled out today with a fix. Was it truly me? or did they have the fix lined up already? We may never know.
-just a funny thing that happened.
@Tyranexx Against my own better judgement I look at the comment sections from time to time and there's always a lot of rancid stuff. I don't blame Nintendo for shutting comments off on a lot of their videos.
