@Eel Not unless they're mushrooms...

Another video game trope I love: barging into people's unlocked houses and rummaging through their stuff for gold and other useful items. Nothing is (usually) said about it. Heck, it's even accepted in some cases!

I may or may not have played plenty of LoZ games and JRPGs.

@ThanosReXXX No prob lol. I tend to get too in-depth with my explanations sometimes.

@Heavyarms55 I love JRPG logic. Have you ever seen the Every JRPG Ever video by CollegeHumor? It's pretty spot-on!

Which game was this, by the way?

@Eel I've been breaking a LOT of pots and barrels in DQ VIII. Nobody bats an eye when I smash or sort through literally half of their belongings just for some spare gold or healing items lol.

Funnily enough, the first inn in the game actively encouraged it on their premises and even had a book saying that any chest in the world of adventuring is up for grabs.

The other side of the coin is in some Zelda games like Skyward Sword where you have to break a chandelier to get at a heart piece...and then spend part of the game paying back Pumm through manual labor.

@Tyranexx not sure if this happens beyond the first big chapter of the game, but if you inspect the sultan's closet, his maid looks mildly mortified.

@Eel Sweet! Yet another reason for me to pick up DQ XI... eventually. I'm set on JRPGs for awhile.

Anti-Matter

Meanwhile, i have played FF XIII PS3 for 2 weeks since i got PS3 slim on 29 December 2019. Already reached Chapter 8 with Sazh and Vanille at Nautilus. So far, i could digest their dialogues on FF XIII rather on FF XII due to simpler English words chosen on FF XIII than on FF XII. I completely baffled with FF XII High Class English conversations, like their conversations was too pageant and too poetic.

No good deed
Will I do
AGAIN...!!!

@Eel @Tyranexx Haha, yeah. Those are good examples as well. Because of all this talk about video game logic, I actually remembered this "GTA in real life" video by Dave Chappelle, that parodied one of the older games in the series:

That’s a great discussion going on with TMS.

I’ll give it 7 tornados out of 10 Luigis.

That user has troll symptoms. I dared to read a little of that comment section. While I can respect the different opinions on the issue, some clearly don't have all the facts before making said judgments. Namely the ones who think most people are up in arms about waifus. 🙄

@ThanosReXXX Hilariously "accurate"! Thanks for the share, hadn't seen that one.

Here's the one I mentioned earlier:

@Anti-Matter Yeah, XIII was vaguely Shakespearean/prose for the aristocrats. Not quite as antiquated in phrasing, and not quite proper iambic pentameter, but intentionally dipping in and out of that form.

@NotTelevision LOL!

@Tyranexx Reason and facts tells me that's not every JRPG ever and is merely Chrono Trigger x FFVII......but my perception tells me it is dead accurate.

I, too enjoy practicing my home invasion skills in RPGs. Nothing like walking into absolutely everyone's unlocked front door, checking their fridge, petting their Pokemon, and finding them unflinchingly staring at a wall while you do, only to speak do them and they tell you A) A secret not secret piece of information B) Give you something rare for free as a thank you for having invaded their home, or C) State random nonsense that you couldn't possibly care about, not that it should matter to you since you just invaded their home.

@ThanosReXXX If you're arguing w/ Antimatter don't expect it to go anywhere. 😂

@NEStalgia That video mainly matches those, but there are other parallels too. Such as the running time for many JRPGs, flying ships, the absent father, and my personal favorite from the video: I heard a rumor that monsters are coming back!, which reflects how often NPC dialog changes in older titles.

@Tyranexx I used to watch a lot of CollegeHumor years ago, when I was in high school and college myself, but they started veering into topics and dealing with them in ways I didn't like, so I moved on.

But I totally agree, I do love how in JRPGs it's just totally fair game to barge into people's homes like that. And the game in question I was talking about was Atelier Ryza. Which is also the same game I mentioned the other day how, I progress the story like one scene and then spend 3 hours doing side quests and crafting. This most recent part of the game I just reached unlocked a not only new gear, but new exploration tools that then opened up new areas that gave me more materials that unlocked more crafting... You get the idea. I progressed one scene and then have spent like the last 5-6 hours doing nothing directly related to the plot.

@Eel Too be fair, if it's in America, there probably is ammo pretty much everywhere. I've seen numbers that suggest there are enough guns and ammo for every man, woman and child in America to be packing heat if the weapons were passed out evenly.

@Heavyarms55 I mostly stick with CH's animated shorts these days, but I generally agree where I'm not too fond of the direction many of the live segments have headed. Plus they've lost the better cast members IMO.

Ah, I see. The reason I asked is because that trope fits some other JRPGs I've played, hence the video.

@NintendoByNature Man, that dice world series. I can't help but chuckle here. It really is amazing how many epic bits Chappelle Show came up with. Last week I saw PBS premier The Mark Twain Prize: Dave Chappelle. I only caught the last 5 min, and it was good. I have to see the whole show. It I know PBS will re-run it soon. (any non-US people, PBS= Public Broadcasting Channel.)
