@Tyranexx Well, as mentioned, that's the whole premise of the show: artists either singing each other's songs or songs that mean something to them for whatever reason. And of course, it wouldn't be good TV if they wouldn't be able to at least to some extent capitalize on the feels...

As for your initial thoughts: the clips are cut off, obviously, if you see the whole episode and the entire conversation afterwards, you don't even need a translator. That link I gave you has English subs, though, so you don't have to know any Dutch cognates. On a side note: the translation isn't literal. It's kinda free hand, but it more or less captures the essence of it.

Concerning opera: I'm honestly not a real fan either, at least not of entire pieces, but far as I'm concerned, there's good music to be found in practically any genre, so I'll always like at least a handful of songs.

Like Henk Poort said in the show: doesn't matter if it's metal, Latino, songs of life, YouTube covers, rock or opera, good music is good music, period. And I wholeheartedly agree with him.

And yes, I definitely like the show. It's one of the programs I'm always looking forward to every year, and I'm always wondering about what kind of a mix of artists they come up with next. Two seasons ago, they first introduced opera singers, one season ago YouTube artists, and now a symphonic rock artist, so who knows what they'll come up with next year. This was already season 12, so that oughta tell you something about how popular the show is over here.

A lot of people, including me, also like most if not all of the other talent shows, but those are obviously all very commercial, and it's always about new talent, whereas this show, regardless of it already being around for 12 years, still remains fresh and different, if only because of them using actual artists that have already made it. So, it may not be a massive show with a giant studio audience, but what it lacks in that department, it more than makes up for in talent and expertise, so they're really maximizing their potential, and that's probably also at least part of what has keeps it going on for so long.

That, and the cozy, living room atmosphere. The Dutch like that. Sitting down, relaxing on the couch, with a drink and a snack plate, and just spending your Saturday night with good music from well-known artists. I'm actually kind of surprised that no American channel has picked this format up yet. It could be a real "Winner"...

@Heavyarms55 - It was delicious, but I’m afraid nobody else will ever know. I think it was related to a Chocobo. It was sitting on a nest with eggs, but I ate them too. Yeah, just a single face tat, a really nice butterfly, but it covers my entire face.

@HobbitGamer I suspect you underestimate the speed at which his cloning tanks produce new warriors. To underestimate @bimmy-lee is to invite DEATH.

@ThanosReXXX Before, I was using some budget phone which was included in a plan, however mostly thanks to Pokemon GO and it's constant updates, it really did feel like one of those original models since the internal storage was nonexistent.

Also, I got one of the phones which includes the Fortnite skin that is another recolor of an existing skin.

I'm half expecting bimmy and Hobbit to settle the above territorial dispute with either Civilization VI or StarCraft II at this point.

@bimmy-lee The spook shop's actual last night was Halloween night; as it was a weeknight, we were only open for a couple of hours. We moved just under two hundred patrons. With some nearby communities involved in their own shenanigans, I'd say that turnout was still decent.

Not sure what ultimately happened to the puke potion, but I'm sure it has been tossed at this point.

I'm an occasional baker. Not so much out of enjoyment but more because i feel that made stuff vs. store bought goods is usually much better. I DO need to work on my pie skills though....I'm much more comfortable with brownies, bars, cookies, and everything in between.

@Heavyarms55 I'm also playing catch up since I was out of state for half of last week and busy as heck the other half. The only things I know of game-wise are that LM3 is almost universally loved and that Sword/Shield have apparently been leaking like crazy. I've avoided most spoilers even though I won't be grabbing the game until sometime after launch. XD

@ThanosReXXX Agreed on the fact that good music is good music, no matter where it comes from. While I really dislike Country, for example, there are a small handful of songs that I do like. For example, The Devil Went Down To Georgia is well-deserving of praise in my opinion. And while I'm not a fan of Adele or her songs, I do acknowledge that she's an extremely talented singer.

I'm honestly surprised that there's no American equivalent of the show, though it's very possible I just haven't heard of it. It'd be a nice change of pace as I do feel many of the shows in a similar vein here that I've seen (though admittedly not recently) do seem very commercial. At least these shows don't seem to manufacture too much of their own drama for the sake of it, unlike "reality" TV....

@Heavyarms55 - It’s true, my army of laser sharks was ill conceived to take on @HobbitGamer ‘s fleet of stealth raptors in a land war, and they fight dirty in the souff. There’s no honor in war though. Defeat is but a temporary setback, and my new mass of adopted, stray pit bulls is nearly complete. I’ve learned from our last skirmish, and as a great warrior once wrote, “Ultimate victory lies not in winning every battle, but in winning before the battle is ever fought.” I now practice the art of Mushashi’s Stab to the Face. Take the senses. Attack the vanity. Victory is ours!

@Tyranexx - The weather here on Halloween was absolutely brutal. Rain, sleet, and huge, wet snowflakes. I assume yours was similar. That’ll cut down on attendance for sure. 2020 is a leap year, so we’re missing out on a Friday Halloween, but we’re jumping to the greatest day possible; Saturday Halloween. ET Halloween. You’ll set a new attendance record next year, weather permitting. Probably a new record for drunk teen removal too!

Seeing as I don't own that game and as such haven't played it either, I wasn't of much help in that regard, but I've seen some of you mention the game several times, so perhaps you people might be able to help him out? Please head over here and help the new guy out, if you're feeling particularly helpful or knowledgeable:
