There is a Japanese hibachi grill nearby, but I don't go there often. The food I've had there is delicious, but the prices ensure it's a rare treat. I also prefer to go in the company of people I know, but most of my immediate family isn't fond of Asian food (or in the case of my mom, can't really handle a lot of it). I should ask some of my new coworkers if they'd be interested.
Side note: The rest of my month after this weekend (with a bit of a breather the week after next) is insanely busy, so my activity will go down quite a bit until November. I'll probably keep track of the main site for news but won't comment under articles unless I really feel compelled to. As for the forums, my activity will likely range from sporadic to non-existent barring any mentions.
@bimmy-lee Every goose is secretly plotting the downfall of the human race as we speak.... I'm assuming the article was removed due to the complaints in the comment section that the site shouldn't give PETA any attention, though it's possible the comment spiraled downhill after I went to bed.
@Heavyarms55 I do like spicy food, I really do! But to me there's also a difference between items with some bite (any time), a lot of bite (depends on if I feel adventurous), and face melting take me to the emergency room bite (never again...). In the case of curry, I'd start out with a mild blend and work my way up over time.
Curry day sounds a lot like turkey horseshoe days at my high school. These happened about once every month or two. We also had pizza 1-2 times a month, but the pizza was merely...edible. It did improve once the cafeteria stopped using those nasty pre-frozen squares and started using actual slices.
@Tyranexx I had my first horse shoe earlier this year! I think it was just a cheese burger horseshoe as thats what I've heard of before. It was pretty good but had my stomach in knots later that day.
@HobbitGamer@NintendoByNatureHorseshoes definitely aren't healthy, but they're a nice treat every now and again. They're made by taking a slice of toasted bread, putting some meat on top of that (typically some form of beef, ham, chicken, or turkey), adding a pile of fries on top of that, and then covering the whole mix with melted cheese. It isn't too dissimilar to poutine from Canada, but there's no gravy involved.
Technically, the version the cafeteria served was a ponyshoe (literally a smaller version of the dish), but they were just referred to as horseshoes on the menu board.
@NotTelevision Yep, it's pretty much a Midwestern thing. I live in Illinois but have also heard of restaurants that have it in Iowa and Missouri.
If you ever do try one, I recommend either getting a ponyshoe for a smaller portion size or splitting the dish with someone. I used to be able to pack a horseshoe away pretty well, but these days I'd definitely stick with a smaller serving. XD
@Link-Hero I definitely recommend it if all the ingredients sound up your alley. Making it on your own would also save a restaurant trip (and probably involve less grease. XD).
@NotTelevision I'll second what @NintendoByNature said about Alwa's Awakening. It's fun, definitely worth it I think, but character movement is slow and jumps are pretty floaty. Honestly, out of all the retro inspired games that come out these days, this one might be the one that feels most authentically retro to me, for better and for worse. I'd give it a go though, especially if it goes on sale.
So apparently there’s some freak out now about the ESRB not actually playing the games that they rate (I’ve known about this for at least 5+ years, so I don’t know how it’s news)?
I know the ESRB is now the devil, because of them ignoring gambling like elements in E rated games like NBA 2k (which I agree that games with an E rating shouldn’t have loot boxes). But considering the amount of video games that need to be rated every year to be released on consoles (in the thousands if not more), compared to the MPAA only needing to rate about 600 films per year.
And I’m sure even if they’d 100% every game to make sure that the rating fit, there’d still be plenty of game rated E with loot boxes, it’s the ESA after all.
@Toy_Link honestly until recently I didn't even think about whether or not they played the games they were rating. I just kinda figured they were shown a slice of the game to base the rating on. I'm the subject of EA, I kinda figured there was some under the table bribes flying about to keep the ratings low so the can push their gambling into kids laps and parents credit cards.
@KarateLuigi - You caught me twice with your last post. The mention of underage moths, and that vine both cracked me up. I’ll take a rooibos tea please. I’ve only had it cold and bottled. I’d like to try it warm. I was hooked for a while on cold watermelon rooibos tea. I’m with you on cats too. They’re fine, but I’d much rather have the interaction of a dog. I have an old mutt, and we can communicate telepathically. Good luck with the move. I didn’t stay in one spot more than a year from ages 18-31. I moved so many times that I never want to move again.
@BruceCM - I know you were joking! Hard to take moth fetishes seriously. I’m usually joking as well. Unless I’m not.
@Tyranexx - I can’t imagine how quickly that comment section went downhill. Hope you had a fun night scaring people!
@HobbitGamer - How’s your mom? Did you get all the TPS reports finished and submitted to the assistant to the regional district manager’s PC load letter?
@StableInvadeel Yeah but I can kind of understand the sentiment. When you order a cheeseburger with fries it’s all separated.
I think I’d like a horseshoe if it was fresh and the cheese sauce didn’t have a chance to make the fries soggy.
Who can forget the soggy disaster that was the KFC Famous bowl. I ordered it once thinking that it might be good since I did like all the ingredients individually. Together as one entity, they formed an unholy union that damaged all the brave who tried it.
