Topic: How mushy are the buttons of a Nintendo DS Lite?

Hi.

I'm aware that there are plenty of threads about the mushiness of the buttons, but I wish to be able to experience it beforehand, without buying the console prior to testing.

I have a PSP-3000, which has a mushy Square button (since it is the closest to the screen), while the other buttons aren't very clicky either. Are the face buttons of the NDS Lite as soft as the Square button of the PSP-3000 or worse/better?

Is there any other console or controller out there that have buttons similar to the ones found on the Nintendo DS Lite? Rather than purchasing it (off Shopee) and regretting, I'd wish to have a notion of how soft the buttons are.

I've looked for "Nintendo DS Lite vs PSP" buttons and similar keywords, with no results.

Thanks in advance.

@Razzee Wow, what a question. I suggest you might want change the thread title to one that actually directly compares DS Lite with PSP-3000.

I've never had a PSP, so can't fully answer your questions. I'm not even sure whether you like mushy buttons or not.

What I can compare is the DS Lite to the Switch joy cons and the PS Vita OLED. Both the joy con buttons and the Vita OLED buttons are pretty shallow and clicky, the Vita probably even more so than the joy cons. Not a huge fan of this as it makes them difficult to play around my clicky-button-sensitive partner at night.

The DS Lite's buttons are mushier than the joy con and Vita buttons. There's more travel and less noise, but I'm not sure I'd describe the DS Lite buttons as particularly mushy either. You really have to try to soft-press in order to not make a noise pressing them.

Hope this is of some use.

Hey, thanks for replying.

I don't have a Switch, but do have a PS Vita. I like clicky buttons, but the PS Vita is too much to the point of harming.

I bought a DS (Phat), and really liked the buttons. However, with the battery lasting only one hour (with one hour needed to recharge) and the darker than dark screen I decided to return it. To be fair, the buttons did hurt after a while too, but they were more satisfacting than the VITA.

The only other model with GBA slots is the GBA SP itself or the DS Lite, but the "mushy" buttons are a concern.

About the PSP, the mushy button (Square) is really annoying specially when playing Project DIVA, since I tend to miss a lot (double pressing) when this button is used.
