RE: Wario Land 3 — Glad to hear you're getting into it. As for the save states . . . I'm using that to get through Donkey Kong '94 on NSO. It's nice not having to repeat the levels if I don't want to play through 4 levels all at once. I don't have the patience (or the attention span) to play through 4 levels at once. LOL. This was probably the only way I'd get through a GB game like that.
RE: MM — Yeah. I already got the game, so I am determined to give it a go. I've got to put OOT on the backburner for a few weeks, but I'm planning to finish it off shortly after that. And then on to MM!
RE: Switch 2 mouse functionality — Yes. That is a good point. I was also wondering if the mouse functionality might open up getting more DS/3DS games ported to the Switch 2. That would be nice!
Ok. I finally caught the Hylian Loach! in OOT 3D! LOL. Only took my a couple of weeks of 10 minutes here, 20 minutes there. LOL. But it is done.
Now the final dungeon!
Congratulations on catching the fish! It is not an easy feat.
I just finished New super mario bros 2 and have four of the five stars. I need to max out extra lives for the fifth and I don't know if I will do that now. I'll probably play it from time to time and rack up those life eventually. I must say that I really enjoyed the game. I love the coin mode where you play some random levels and try to get as many coins as possible.
The game was not the most challenging Mario game but some of the star levels where quite tuff.
Now I am considering playing either Majoras Mask (never played the 3DS version) or Dragons Quest VIII.
RE: Kirby: Planet Robobot! — The way you describe the collecting of power-ups sounds pretty good. A collect-a-thon, but with a purpose. I had to look up Team Kirby Clash . . . but it looks good. Is that like Super Kirby Clash on Switch?
@NintendoDad
RE NSMB2 - yeah probably. But I read that you can play through the game as Luigi on the same save file, so will probably do that. I don't think it it resets anything but hopefully his physics are a bit different. Should make the second playthrough interesting.
@Rodolfo6493
While I really like the game it tends to get a bit repetitious. I play a few races here and there. So, to answer your question, I am slowly chipping away at the game.
@NintendoDad Only Kirby and the Robobot Suit can each have one power up at a time, though you can dump the current one and suck up (Kirby) or scan (mech suit) another. You can collect stickers in levels though; they're completely random and lend to replayability if one wants to get them all.
I've not played Super Kirby Clash on Switch, but it appears as though it's an expanded version of the side mode in Planet Robobot. HAL has done this with several Kirby side modes on the Switch and 3DS.
Currently playing: Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remake (Switch), Hades (Switch)
@LaCru79 I understand, the Gran Prix mode is quite long.
I started playing at the end of 2023, stopped for about 2 months and came back to finish it in April 2024.

Funny you bring DK 94 up since that's the last Gameboy game I downloaded that I have yet to play on 3DS.
I mean I did play a good chunk of it...20 years ago but nothing since then.
@kkslider5552000 DK94 is such a great game. Well worth playing through.
NSMB2: I must say that I am a little disappointed about unlocking Luigi in this game. Both brothers play exactly the same and the game does not even reset when choosing him. I understand that a separate mode is a bit too much to ask, but at least make it like a new game +.
Really liked the game otherwise and I still have the fifth star (max out lives) and reaching 1mil coins to do. But the incentive is not the greatest. That being said I clocked nearly 18,5 hours in the game, so I got plenty of value for my money.
RE: DK'94 — Yeah. I was just bringing that up because it had just dropped on Switch NSO. I didn't know about it when I had my Game Boy. I think I actually gave away my GB before '94. But having played MvsDK Mini-land Mayhem! I wiki'd the games in the series and read-up on DK'94 and thought it'd be a cool game to try out. That's why I was glad to see it hit NSO.
I'm about half-way through it on NSO and I have to say that it seems like an extremely well developed game for such a modest hardware platform. I would say gameplay-wise it totally holds it's own against any game in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong series.
I did find a glitch on one of the World 2 levels (if I remember correctly.) One level has a ladder on the left side. I climbed up it and tried to jump up to the platform. But I guess you're not supposed to jump up there. I got stuck between the ladder and the platform and I couldn't get out. Couldn't go up. Couldn't go down. And couldn't jump off the ladder. So I had to shutdown and start the game over. LOL.
@NintendoDad Yeah, the power absorption ability is the same as in most other main series Kirby titles, but the mech suit can use a version of the same mechanic separately. So the player technically can have two powers at a time but only use one or the other - it depends on if Kirby is piloting the suit or not.
The game is rumored to be coming to Switch Lol. I picked it up some time ago and unearthed it from my backlog. They did formally announce Kirby's Return To Dream Land Deluxe on Switch literally after I tracked down, played, and beat a used copy of the Wii original, so it wouldn't surprise me if an enhanced Planet Robobot is in the works too.
Currently playing: Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remake (Switch), Hades (Switch)
RE: Robobot . . . well, it sounds like it will be a great addition to the Switch library.
RE: Kirby RTDL . . . Yeah. That happens. LOL. I picked up a used copy of Kirby RTDL . . . just to see if my daughter wanted to play through it again (she had played through it at a friend's house.) And then it came out for the Switch. LOL. I don't mind having a few Wii games still lying around so we have something to play when we fire up the Wii.
And a few games I downloaded for my 2DS has made it to NSO like Link's Awakening, the Zelda Ages set and Metroid II. But its nice that those games were available for the 3DS, and now also available on Switch for anyone that hasn't had the chance to play them yet.
@NintendoDadKirby's Return To Dream Land is a good investment regardless of the system IMO. In a sense, I saved money since Nintendo released the Deluxe version at full price. XD
I prefer the Virtual Console over NSO overall, but I do think the latter has a purpose for if we wanna try out games. But I do prefer "owning" and having offline access to longer games like RPGs. I wish Nintendo would give us both options on Switch.
Currently playing: Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remake (Switch), Hades (Switch)
RE: Kirby's RTDL — Yes. Less money. But pros both ways. Switch version has extra content? And the Wii version is cool to play on the old console. At least for me it is. It's a reason to fire up our old Wii.
RE: NSO vs Virtual Console
Yes. Having both options would be nice. Having options always is.
I guess the way I've looked at NSO is that we finally have to pay for connecting on-line.
Wii and Wii U were free to connect on-line. With the Switch we finally had to pay for it. On the one-hand its a bummer that we have to pay for it now. On the other, I'm hopeful that now that we are paying for it, and "hopefully" Switch 2 uses the same system that it makes sense for Nintendo to run the service longer so our Switches remain on-line for a long, long time. For Wii and Wii U, yeah . . . since no one was paying for it it was a cost to Nintendo. But since subscribers pay for NSO, hopefully that is a paid service that makes sense to keep up and running longer.
And the added benefit for us NSO subscribers is access to a good collection of GB, NES and SNES games. And on-line saves.
I haven't upgraded to NSO Expansion Pack yet. The only GBA games on my short list that I want to play are Metroid Zero Mission and Metroid Fusion. But I was able to find GBA carts to play those games on our DS Lite. And seeing that it sometimes takes me 5 years to complete a game LOL, me paying for NSO Expansion Pack to play those 2 games didn't make sense since I was able to find carts for them.
So . . . in that way, yes Virtual Console would have been nice if I could have just bought Zero Mission and Fusion individually.
@NintendoDad As a career coder, I still think it's nuts that folks basically need to pay to connect a console through their own internet...that they already pay for. If there were major structural benefits I could kind of see the reasoning. But in terms of what Nintendo offers compared to the other consoles, it...really isn't a lot. The reason I even started subbing was to have a way to make legal save backups...and we can't even do it with a few games due to fear of file modification (games like the Pokemon series for example, which is funny since Wonder Trade is still flooded with obvious hacks). I'm one who likes to have a backup of my backup, and I can't do that with my Switch saves. Unlike the SD cards for my Wii U and 3DS systems.
The retro content is nice, I'll give them that. But it would be better to buy it if one wants to access a longer game a lot and not have to worry about the system needing to phone home every so often. I don't trust public Wi-Fi and ran into where I couldn't play NSO titles a week into my last vacation.
As for online play, it's also nice but isn't a feature I often use. I mostly play single player games. Or local multiplayer. I have played online, but it's rare.
Currently playing: Dragon Quest I HD-2D Remake (Switch), Hades (Switch)
I guess I just look at the on-line portion of Wii, Wii U and 3DS being shutdown. Yeah. 'still a lot of gaming left in our Wii, Wii U and 2DS, but no longer with on-line.
I was figuring that since we didn't pay for those on-line services, if there was a real cost involved in keeping those services up, like server / server time, maintenance, bug fixes / virus related updates . . . that it makes sense to sunset those services. ie. No profit, but a cost.
I'm just hoping that if there are subscribers to a service (like NSO), and the amount of profit is greater than the upkeep, "hopefully" Nintendo will keep the services up longer?
@NintendoDad Oh, I'm not advocating to keep the old services up infinitely; it's nice that we can still re-download things that we've already bought, but I do expect that to eventually end. When services like that are sunset, it's typically a decision of profit vs. upkeep costs. Nintendo is, in the end, a business. With paying, I'm more thinking of the online network connectivity required for multiplayer and data storage; I'm okay with paying for the latter (and probably would have), I'm just a bit miffed that there isn't a local legal storage solution we can do as well, like with the Wii U and 3DS with SD cards, external drives or SSDs, etc. But Nintendo's network when it comes to multiplayer is...middling. If I am paying for such a service, I'd expect better. And built in voice chat, though I can see the gray areas that brings to the table as well.
I have no problem with NSO existing; heck, overall I do find uses for it. I just think Nintendo could do a lot better with offering consumers options. I like using NSO to, say, try a retro game I've always been on the fence about. Or play a quick game where you don't really need to "save" anything, like Excitebike. But for longer games like RPGs where I know I'd play them for awhile and want frequent access? I'd like a one time buy option where my save and if I can even access them isn't locked behind a subscription where I need to phone home every so often. Due to past experiences and, these days, way less free time than I'd like, losing saves is a terrible feeling. It feels like wasted time and effort I'll never get back.
@NintendoDad Yeah, OoT has been on the backburner for me as well. Though in my case, it's been a bit too long, lol. Probably won't last too long when I open a save file that I haven't played for a long time... that happens a lot to me, especially in stuff like RPGs.
