Yeah. Another 3DS gamer! Glad to hear you're enjoying New Yoshi's Island. Sorry to hear about the music! LOL. But its gotta be more good than bad, right?
@NintendoDad I have games that I still haven't played! I have had several of the 3DS models: 3DS, 3DS XL and New 3DS (not XL). New 3DS (not XL) is the one I kept as it's the sweet spot with the better calibrated 3D and higher pixel density than the XL models. The original model is truly precious, although flawed. I have enjoyed the 3DS much more than Switch, but still do now that Switch lifespan is about to end, which is the weird thing! The 3DS is the best handheld ever, considering its size, game library and stereoscopic 3D. It's DS on steroids. It's not that I'm the biggest fan of handhelds. I've always favoured home consoles, but 3DS is absolutely essential for any gamer.
Playing Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World currently. Along with EO 4 & 5. Right now I'm trying to collect the remaining collectables in Woolly World. Luckily, Mellow Mode on the 3DS make the collecting more manageable compared to the WiiU version since the Poochy Pups can grab Wonder Wool when you throw them.
Kinda weird I've completed the game on Classic difficulty but doing the post game collecting on Mellow Mode...
I'm kinda tempted to get M&L: Superstar Saga+Bowser's Minions & the GBA version. Though the GBA is what I want to get since I love the style & sprites but the remake is also pretty too. Especially since it's 60 fps.

@DanijoEX-the-Pierrot I played Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga on GBA. It has aged very well and I'd say it still is the best Mario & Luigi game. The sprites, sound, gameplay and humour are excellent.
Just in time for Valentine's Day I got Metroid: Samus Return. I've beaten the game on Normal difficulty (100% Items in 16:00:58, that's too much for my average Metroid times) and Hard (100% items in 09:51:16, about my average Metroid times).
Currently doing Fusion Mode.
Rusty's Real Deal Baseball is now a hidden gem of the Nintendo 3DS.

+1. Yeah. I've got quite a few games I've picked up that I haven't gotten to. I picked up a lot of them just before COVID. Back then I was car pooling with my wife, and I'd end up waiting quite a bit after work, so I picked up these games thinking I'd just hack away at them while I was waiting in the car.
And then COVID hit, and we weren't going into the office anymore.
So I didn't get through these games as fast as I thought I would. LOL.
I have to agree that the 3DS platform has been one of my favourite consoles. My 2DS, although not as small as one of our DS consoles, is small enough that I do take it out and about quite a bit. And the selection of games and the quality are top notch.
Did you enjoy Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World? I played through Yoshi's Woolly World on the Wii U. That was one of my favourite games. 'trying to finish off Yoshi's Crafted World on our Switch with my daughter.
I mostly play my Switch these days, but I'll definitely agree that the 3DS is an excellent system and I still play it every once in a while. I have a red New 3DS XL. I even went ahead and replayed a couple games a while back (Super Mario 3D Land and A Link Between Worlds, both fantastic games). And yeah, there are quite a few 3DS games that I should still play more of, like Fire Emblem Echoes.

@NintendoDad Yup, I enjoyed it immensely. It has alot of content plus you can create your own custom Yoshi if you feel the desire to do so. i'm trying to collect the remaining collectables. the 3DS port looks pretty good for WiiU game ported to 3DS. Sure the graphics are downgraded but not enough to muddle your experience. I do believe it runs at 60fps on a New 3DS/2DS.
I did play Yoshi's Woolly World on WiiU 5 years ago but I've never really got around finishing it sadly since I've sold it & the console afterwards.

I took a break from Kirby apples (sometimes ft. an actual video game) to play Wario Land 3, one of the last games I downloaded for 3DS.
I'm Xenoblade 2 levels of mixed on this game. It has even more ambition for a gameboy game than the 2nd game did, but far more annoyances because of it. I'm not sure if I'm going to end up liking it especially, but I do respect it because I'd struggle to think of another game quite like it. Wario Land 2 to an extent, but this is still its own thing, and is unlike any other platformer out there AFAIK.
RE: 3DS . . . Yeah. My 2DS has been one of my favourite platforms. It has "slowly" let me enjoy the amazingness of OOT with me being able to game wherever I am. I finished the regular levels of SM3DL, but stopped, not realizing there were more levels LOL. And haven't gotten back to it since I want to finish OOT, and start MM. LOL. I have ALBW. I might try that out to see if I want to slip that in before / while I try to play MM. LOL.
RE: Wii U — We still have our Wii U, but the gamepad can't be more than 1/2 a foot away from the console or else it looses connection. But I keep it so that we can play Nintendo Land on it every now-and-then.
RE: Wario Land 3 . . . did you end up liking it? I'm getting more and more into . . . if I'm not into it, I just stop. Things like games I'm not into, or movies and shows that I stream. Just so much available out there, might as well enjoy what you play / watch. LOL.
@NintendoDad Ah gotcha, yeah 3D Land's amount of levels get doubled by the time the last Bowser fight is finished, haha. I have yet to finish Ocarina of Time as well, it's been a long time since I last played the 3DS version, but I do remember leaving off at the Shadow Temple. That would be cool, I love A Link Between Worlds as I said earlier. I've played Majora's Mask, but it's hard to get into for me.

RE: MM — Yeah. I've read posts / threads / articles that MM might be an acquired taste. LOL. But I'm looking forward to experiencing a new environment. And if I drag my feet with MM, I still have ALBW available.

I'm enjoying it...more at least. In that I've gotten into the mindset of playing slowly and using the occasional save state so that the levels don't constantly send me back to make me repeat what I just did. And the game at least does a decent job of telling you where to go next, despite constantly sending you back to older levels.
@NintendoDad Oh yeah definitely, it doesn't hurt to try the game out. I do know that quite a few people like the game and you never know if you'll like it or not until you try it. It's an acquired taste for sure.

@NintendoDad I just finished it, Fusion Mode can only be unlocked after clearing the game at least once and scanning a Metroid amiibo, which I've owned along with Samus (Metroid ver.) since 2019.
I admit I probably cheated on my three runs and used the Reserve Tanks provided by the amiibo of Samus (Smash Bros. ver), Samus (Metroid ver.) and Zero Suit Samus.
Of course it took me 9 hours to clear Fusion Mode, where an accidental run in with an enemy may cost you a lot of Energy. Even with all the Energy Tanks, the last bosses can wipe them entirely with 2 or 3 hits.
Simply put, of the 99 HP you have at the start of the game, a ramming enemy can leave you at 19 HP.
Now that I have almost memorized the entire map in the short run and how to deal with the Metroids quickly, I may attempt to get one of the best endings (between 2 and 4 hours), ideally in Normal Mode.
I love how Zero Suit Samus looks in this game.
Other than that, I've returned to Wario Land 2 (3DS Virtual Console version) to finish it once and for all.
RE: Pokemon Art Academy — That looks good. Do you get to design your own Pokemon card? If so, that would be cool!
That's the whole framing of the game! You take lessons from a master Pokemon card designer, and your finished illustrations get placed onto virtual Pokemon cards.
For what it's worth, I'm not the biggest Pokemon fan in the world, and I'm not much of an artist, but this game really clicks with me. The subjects you draw are simple, the palettes are restricted to a handful of colors (though you can always use custom colors if you want), and the complexity scales nicely (starting you off by tracing using only one tool, before slowly introducing shading, using construction shapes, then extended techniques with tools beyond markers).
The DS family is just a perfect platform for a game like Pokemon Art Academy, and I'm kinda sad that the Switch doesn't really allow for something similar - though with the mouse functionality of the Switch 2 joycons, maybe that'll change.
I've supp'd for months on naught but broth of bean
I'm briefly breaking my forum hiatus to gush about Kirby: Planet Robobot! I enjoyed Triple Deluxe, but Planet Robobot takes things to another level. I'm almost through World 3 in the story mode and absolutely love what the Robobot Armor brings to the table. The usual Kirby gameplay is here as well, but the armor can use its own power-ups and feels like an absolute powerhouse to operate. The suit allows for some light puzzle solving, some fun mechanics when it comes to vehicles, and looks adorably awesome!
As for the two mini-games in this package, I've experimented somewhat with Kirby 3D Rumble and enjoy what I have played of it. I haven't really tried Team Kirby Clash yet but plan to before long. I'm excited to see what all unlocks after I complete the story mode (besides the Arena).
