I watched the trailer a number of times over the past few days and I'm getting a Hyrule Warriors Legends feel to it in terms of how it'll run on the Standard and New 3DS consoles. Mainly the concept of everything being in 3D rather than overhead view and the fact the characters aren't chibi-fied. If I recall correctly, the only reason the chibi artstyle was used for Federation Force is to do with 3DS limitations.

Appearance: I'm basically imagining a spam can with a face and stubby limbs of spam, lol. Can't exactly do a mockup right now.

I wouldn't mind if Soar replaced Fly, but that would involve a lot of Pokemon sprites. XD I would love if they incorporated sprites for the other moves like Surf, they've already done that to a slight extent.

Indeed, it looks like Eevee or perhaps Buneary at first, but those wacky-looking ears reveal this is something new. The list is now as follows:

Rowlet - Grass/Flying - Grass starter

Litten - Fire - Fire starter

Popplio - Water - Water starter

Unnamed bird Pokémon - Presumably an early Normal/Flying-type like Pidgey

Unnamed mammal-looking Pokémon - Looks like a Normal-type to me. Briefly spotted in a trailer for the game.

Unnamed legendary Pokémon - Legendary Pokémon. Mascot for Sun.

Unnamed legendary Pokémon - Legendary Pokémon. Mascot for Moon.

Magearna - Steel/Fairy-type - Mythical Pokémon. Likely distributed through some special event.

@Rensch For me it was the tail. Only the tip of Eevee's tail is that light of color, not the whole thing... unless Eevee got a redesign
