Well as long as it can still wrestle like Hawlucha I'll be happy and if not then all games after gen 1 are rubbish!

I'm excited for the game. The overworld and scenery in general look amazing and beautiful. I do hope that there are more islands as like others mention, it's very tiny, I'm pretty sure that one island in the video is about 3 routes and 3 cities. It looks like the rocks in the bottom side don't block one area so that's probably the surf/ride path to more islands.

I can't wait to see the rest of the new pokemon, but because I'm me I have to be that guy who says wrong and biased things based on opinion that sometimes sounds like facts. The only issue I have is the design of the pokemon so far... granted, they're pretty good, I can't say there is anything wrong with them as individuals, just that look "familiar" as pokemon and that's the problem I see with them. Where have I seen a dark or depressed looking cat before? If somebody were to described litten to me, I'd say "glameow", or "purrloin". Same with Rowlet, "hoothoot" but grass type and actually turns it's head. Popplio is basically what oshawott should've been, I'd be convinced if I was new to pokemon and started in this gen that would be the prevolution of samurott. I can nickname him anything, "Spheal on a diet, Seal with a nose job, Samurott Jr.," it just has so many similarities. The sun legendary is mega pyroar, I literally see nothing else in it. The moon legendary.... actually looks cool, I'll have to see it ingame as the video/boxart actually looks kinda akeward, can't tell if he/she/it has arms, legs, a back, anything; but it's design is unique and that alone I respect and like.

Overall, everything still looks good, just I feel the idea pool for starters and the sun legendary weren't the best, but I ask myself "do I have any better ideas?" and the answer is no as I'd just make mega solrock instead of mega pyroar. I don't know which starter I'm going to pick.. I'll have to see their evolutions, if I had to pick based on first stage, it'd be either popplio or litten.

All I know is, this game will be pretty great as long as they don't let the gen 1 4 OHKO moves no guard machamp exist.

GameXplain had a pretty good analysis of the trailer, and came up with a good reason why the other islands would come into play. I think this island is the beginning and ending island.

The tall mountain in the Northeastern corner of the island looks like a potential Unova-style Victory Road.

The town in the center is where Professor Hala's lab is. There's long paths between that town and the house on the beach on the bottom of the island, which could potentially be your house. The trailer shows you going up paths that don't have any tall grass, so this could actually be the case. Reminds me of the Sinnoh games in that case.

The large city on the western side of the island probably contains a gym, which is either the first gym or the last gym.

You'd take a ferry to one of the other islands, probably the one based on the island of Hawai'i. You'd then be able to surf between the islands that are in between the beginning island (which is based on Oahu) and the large island based on Hawai'i.

That leaves one thing: what about the islands northwest of Oahu? Well, I think those islands could make for a postgame area similar to the Battle Zone in the Sinnoh games.

I'd say it's clear this lone island is not the full region.

Even by Pokemon standards, it would be incredibly tiny.

I would love a game that incorporates the Orange Islands, but I think the Sevii Islands in FR/LG were the closest we're ever getting to that.

If there are multiple islands (and I consider that VERY likely), then I hope there's a ferry system between them. I would love if one could Soar again, that alone is what made me feel like ORAS was worth picking up again.

The only thing that would stink would be to have to surf between all the islands....It would be Hoenn all over again.

I'd like to see the soaring mechanic comeback. I don't know how they're put it in though, as soaring as a mega latios/latias thing and ripping those two into sun/moon would seem kinda cheesy. Maybe they'll make you able to soar with multiple pokemon or this gen will have a latios/latias duo with the same compatibility.

What were to happen if you tried to transfer your Latios/Latias to SM for that matter? How would that affect soaring?

I should start making a point of avoiding discussions like this. I remember back with Pokemon Diamond & Pearl I read everything about the games and it kinda spoiled the experience. I knew which starter had the best final form, which pokemon to catch and where you get them. Everything.

With X&Y I made a point of going in mostly blind. I only knew what the starters were and the box legendary. The global launch made it much easier but still. It was much closer to how I experienced the original Pokemon. So I'm just going to stop looking at anything from now on. Pokemon is one of the few games where I really care about spoilers.

I'm planning on buying both versions this time. I'll try to go in at least semi-blind for one of the two versions, and then later play the other version where I can build a team while knowing the different Pokemon available.

@123ash3: I don't typically EV train when playing the main story. I'm definitely looking forward to playing through both versions. I think I will probably hold off on one of the two though.

I don't think it'd be special to them, but if the mechanic was reintroduced they'd probably allow it. (Say they make a duo for gen 7, you can soar with those or the oras transfer latis via event for eonflute).

Some people I spoke to said they'd prefer soaring to be oras exclusive due it being special for the games, but I feel like it's a good mechanic that was a nice introduction for oras, but needs expanded on for future titles.

Or... They could just upgrade Fly to work like that, it's not like they'd need to show you the Pokemon, it could be like surf (with special Pokemon that do appear and a generic placeholder for everyone else).

Change the azure flute to a normal whistle and the first Pokemon with fly found in your team or PC comes to fly you around.

Select Fly as usual from your team and it goes back to the classic method. In case you don't want to soar around.

Wouldn't they need to do a soaring 3d model for every 'mon that can fly if they did that?

@MegaBeedrill: I think he meant what happens in ORAS. What Latias/Latios do you call upon if all of the ones you own are transferred to Sun/Moon? Time to throw logic out the window haha.

Anyways, I do think soaring will return. I think you may be able to soar between the different islands, but I don't think you'll be able to use Fly between certain islands. I think the map may have 3 or 4 different parts. The island we've seen is just one of them.

Look at this map of Hawaii:

Untitled

The island we've seen is the one based on Oahu. I think that the island of Hawai'i could be another map section. The islands of Maui, Molokai, Lanai, and Kahoolawe would make up another section, while the islands of Kauai and Niihau would make up the last section. That's assuming they use all of the islands of course, which I think they will.

They get called and travel back to you from sun and moon stopping by at subway on the way there, same case if you'd release/trade them right?

@skywake: I'd love to go blind in a Pokémon game. Maybe that's what I'm going to do. I'll wait for some new info to see if I'm really interested, but I'm definitely going to try to avoid all the leaks and coverage that happens around the release date.

Eel

@shaneoh: not really. I covered that in my post.

It's clear they don't care that much about that, considering fly, surf and dive all use generic models, with a few exceptions.

For example, give latios, latias, charizard, new Pokemon 1 and new Pokemon 2 special models and everyone else is replaced by the generic black bird they use for fly.

If still you want to keep the unique different models without the possibility of "soaring on a doduo", then they'd just need to keep it limited to mega evolved Pokemon as with ORAS, or to a number of fully evolved species.

Since X & Y has mentioned (possibly ORAS too) somethings that we are most likely to expect in this game such as a reverse waterfall, the strange souvenir, a new facility (which hopefully brings something new for battling), relation to the war against Kalos, usage of the flower theme and more which will play a role in the world; what else could happen that were hinted in the recent games? (I've missed a few things out that I've forgotten.)

So you can still soar even if you don't actually have them anymore? LOL.

@Bolt_Strike The eon flute is meant to call them at any time. One thing that the anime made very clear, is the PC where you drop off the pokemon, is located very very far away, assuming the pc box in oras is in a far location, they still travel long distances possibly even regions to come back to you. I don't see anything wrong with transfering them, and them still coming to oras for soaring cause you called them. Arceus didn't respond to the azure flute because you owned him, he did because it's just the azure flute he had no choice even though the event was never released.

You can just say gameplay mechanics, but it's not farfetch'd in the slightest. I'm telling you they will stop by subway it's so obvious.
