The thing is... It would be impossible for such a creature to even go underwater. It makes no sense. So, no ideas are too stupid for Pokemon.
(It's apparently so proportionally light that it would float in air. Getting in the water alone would be a problem, probably)
That's true. It bugs me when people (not anyone here) think that their notion of what a Pokemon should look like is some sort of "absolute". It's like, dude, you don't own the franchise and you don't see the original vision like everyone working in Gamefreak does. There are certain processes they go through, and for the most part they try and make a semi-understandable explanation for why a Pokemon exists before finalizing it. Pokemon is, after all, an adventure/collecting game with RPG elements where the core concept is exploring an ecosystem and finding all of the creatures that fill all kinds of roles in that ecosystem. You're basically a really bada** ecologist.
That's the reason why some Pokemon are slightly undesirable or weaker than others. Gamefreak makes an ecosystem first, they set up a food chain of sorts, and some Pokemon end up in a niche, or being weak just like in real life.
Maybe a door Pokemon? It'll know Slam and come with the Doorstop held item. =P
That, and the building Pokémon would be hilarious. How about a ghost-type sports car Pokémon which has basically been possessed by the spirit that died in it. =P

Also worth noting that the files for the logos were named 'pokemonniji' (I think, there was at least SOMETHING important titled Pokemon Niji), with Niji/虹 translating to rainbow. If the rainbow/Hawaii links exist (I'm not too aware of them, being a sun-starved Brit) then that could be another pointer.
Finally, I think it also makes some sense in that Hawaii is quite a popular travel destination from Japan, and so occupies a place in the national psyche. Similarly to how Unova's aesthetics of 'cool, modern, diverse and edgy' were based on a conception of New York, and Kalos' aesthetics of 'beautiful, refined, and achingly fashionable' were drawn from a conception of France, I can see the new region being based around 'tropical, warm, relaxed, resort-style vibes' drawn from the popular conception of Hawaii.
Maybe we'll see a Steel Type, steel pan Pokemon equipped with various sound based moves. I can see the Bellosoms dancing around the island now. It wouldn't even surprise me if we saw a Mega Bellosom announced in the next six months.
Anyway, I love the idea of a region based on Hawaii. I didn't think I would, but I'm totally on board. The concept art reminds me a bit of GTA: Vice City (which is based on Miami), and it makes me crave an open-world Pokémon game even more. How cool would it be if we could explore the region in an SUV and drive to parks, forests, mountains, shopping centres etc. I doubt that Game Freak would ever make a game with that level of scope, but one can dream.

A couple of new type combinations that I wouldn't mind seeing are electric/fighting and fire/electric.
Call me crazy, but I wouldn't mind seeing a Pokemon based off of an opossum. I actually made a Fakemon once called Snorpossum (basically a possum in PJ's and a night cap).

I want a Normal/Ghost Pokémon because it would only have one weakness. Of course, it would probably be really weak and end up being an early route Pokémon. I wouldn't mind seeing Fire/Water, Water/Grass, and Grass/Fire as starter types.
@BlatantlyHeroic:
Ya, but what's the use in having a trash Pokemon, without a building Pokemon for it to sit next to? We've already seens ton of extraordinary Pokemon, and a building Pokemon just seems right... It could trick Ash into thinking he's going home to Pallet Town, then kill off Ash as the main character; through the brilliant work of Architechius.
Just read some of the Hawaii speculation. That'd be really cool, I always thought it was weird they didn't put the Orange Islands in a game from the anime, maybe it'll resemble a touch. I believe Hawaii is a big destination for Japanese tourists, as it's warm year round, and it's sort of the closest way for them to touch America. So it's not like it's a foreign concept.

I had always assumed that the Sevii Islands in FR/LG were a weak nod to the Orange Islands. I wouldn't mind seeing a game that actually incorporated them, particularly since it was my favorite season of the anime.

I don't get why people talk about that all the time. There's plenty of areas that are exclusive to the TV show from what I remember, yet everyone only talks about the Orange Islands.
@Rensch: Because Orange Islands were focused on heavily, unlike the other cities or areas they don't visit in the game, most only appear for 1 episode. When they visit places that don't appear in the games, they don't always explore the city/area too well either to make it a huge point. If they've done it again where they did a huge new region that didn't appear in a game since gen 3, I haven't seen it because I stopped watching the show like 13 years ago.
I didn't think so. So it's one of the bigger (or biggest) places that hasn't appeared in the games. But I'm sure there's stuff in the games that are large and notable that don't appear in the anime. Once again, I wouldn't know because I've not watched it in a decade.
The orange islands were just filler. The second generation had been delayed and hey had to fill that empty anime void between games with something. Also, the second season of the anime would've been too short without the extra league.
They were probably exclusively created for the anime, with close to no input from game freak or nintendo, so I doubt the games will ever acknowledge them.
Even the anime kind of forgot about them. They eventually undid and hid all the notable additions and events that happened in the islands.
