@Meowpheel Possibly. Even there isn't anything else, it's not like it'll be that long before the next info. Gamescom will apparently have a surprise and there's also Worlds later this month too where I'm sure we'll get something.
I hope we can get more info on the Gen 1 VC games' functionality with Pokemon Bank and these games. I think with all the reveals lately that's the one thing I'm still curious about but no word has been said about it...
@Meowpheel I think it's the first one. It'll be an easy way to obtain the regular forms. I don't think they can change between regular and Alolan forms, that wouldn't really make sense either.
@Meowpheel Yeah, the latter is what I was thinking would likely happen and plus I think something like that was in one of the leaks (not sure which one and if it was the credible one or not)
I could definitely see that happening, but what if I don't necessarily want to "Alolify" my Pokemon from Red? Thus I would like to know if our transferred Pokes will be changed to their Alolan Forms or stay the same, or if we will get a choice.
But I would be really disappointed if that's the only way to get classic Pokemon, as I would much rather transfer my Gen 1 Pokemon from Omega Ruby than Red (which I haven't played in some time).
If it happens it would need to be a choice. I want my meowths to stay pure and beautiful.
I doubt they would block to ability to transfer those Pokemon from gen vi though. It would defeat the purpose of pokebank.
@Octane it's less about being able to change them at will, and more about being able to generate an Alolan form based on your gen-1 Pokemon. It doesn't need to make much sense. It's just an idea.
@FriedSquid I think that what Meowpheel said about passing the Game Boy pokemon to your Sun and Moon versions are the options to get the original gen 1 just as if you pass them from X and Y or ORAS. I don't think that you can decide to change them to the Alolan versions since all you have to do to get those is capturing them in the games. The original versions are the ones that aren't obtainable in those games.
@Meowpheel I know, but I imagine it being like importing Pokémon from a different region to Alola. Since they weren't caught or breed in Alola, they just remain like the regular versions. If you want the Alolan versions, you need to catch them in the game. Just like that regular Meowth that can be found in your home and has likely traveled with the player from their homeland (Kanto?).
Then again, that Pikachu you caught in Viridian Forest won't be transferred to Sun and Moon.
It will be deleted from the original game and generated again with the new engine on Pokebank.
It's just a random idea to make the gen 1 compatibility more attractive.
Pair it with the devious idea that some Alolan forms can't be caught naturally by the player in Sun and Moon (just like version exclusives work) or they're hard to find, and then you have easy money.
I should add though, that I personally believe It'll just be a way to get the classic mons on Alola.
Well it's late here and I'm tired... But I think I understand what Octane is saying better and it makes more sense to me now and is probably what will actually happen. Guess I had just hoped for some sort of bonus incentive to import Pokes from the VC games as opposed to Gen 6 games, but it's no big deal.
As for the Alolan Raichu, I think it is pretty cute and I like its typing — I don't think we have ever had an Elec/Psy before surprisingly. But it still doesn't beat the classic form for me.
There are some new translations as well, it seems that Wishiwashi's Schooling ability isn't based on level, as was previously claimed, but rather HP. So it works just like Stance Change or Zen Mode; ''Alters the Pokémon's form in battle. If health drops below a certain level, the form reverts.''
@Tsurii That music was awesome—this game looks awesome! The over-the-shoulder camera is such a long-overdue-but-welcome change. Also, Surfachu is cute af.
I doubt they would block players from getting the classic version of any of these Alola form Pokemon. If all Pokemon in evolution chains don't have to have Alola versions, then does that mean there could be no Alola Persian? This would make things a bit more unique and maybe Alola evolutions could just be random. Evolve Pikachu, maybe you get Alola Raichu or regular Raichu... this is going to make getting Exeggutor more difficult.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
The whole idea up until now (since they haven't really said anything to disprove it) is that you can't get the classic versions in Alola, because the pokemon changed to adapt to Alola. But that's just an interpretation.
We do know not every Pokemon family with Alola versions will be full-Alola, since Pichu is confirmed to appear early in the game and it's just regular Pichu.
It's possible there's no Alolan Persian, but I'd say it's highly likely it exists.

I just think it would be weird that all Pikachu didn't change to adapt but all Raichu did. If there is a mix of classic and alola form Pokemon throughout the land, then I think it would make more sense that only certain evolutions have adapted.

I think that any confirmed Alola forms that are stage 1 Pokemon are likely to have Alolan evolutions as well. Conversely it appears that only later stages of some Pokemon (like Exeggcute and Cubone) have Alolan forms. I find this a bit odd, but I suppose it's likely that only some of a Pokemon's evolutionary line have adapted accordingly.
The new Pokemon shown off in the latest trailer are okay, but aren't must-haves for me. At least Pyukumuku has a fun name. XD I do like Alola Raichu, but it'll be a crime if it can't learn Surf. Its battle sprite screams "Cowabunga"!
Currently playing: Pokemon Scarlet - The Indigo Disk, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury (Switch)

Does it make sense that Cubone (Ground) evolves into Alola Marowak (Fire/Ghost)? That seems really odd to me, which made me think Cubone might have an Alola form, then Pikachu and Exeggcute would too. However, if those pre-evolution pokemon don't have Alola forms, wouldn't it make more sense that the Alola forms are random or controlled by some other force? Maybe Alola form pokemon can only be caught wild? Maybe evolving a Pikachu will only get you Raichu, you have to catch Alola form Raichu in the wild. But I am probably over thinking this and I will be fine with whatever way they have it in the game, I just want to know lol
