I love this game! It's a lot of fun, IMO. For those that have played it longer than me, what can you use money for? All I've been able to buy are those little Challenge Pack things, is that all there is?

Love your Tom Servo!

I like the fact that this uses QR codes, and it would be cool if the Street Pass feature caught on. But seeing your creations makes me think I would like this as well. You guys need to post some more pictures to show off your hard work.

Tom Servo has been a great guest and is welcome to the planet MooKaChoo whenever he wants. lol
As far as the IGN review, the platform portion of the game is just a means to an end in getting additional Challenge packs, new characters, coins and whatnot so it works well as far as im concerned... and the ,more you make the bigger your panet with all kinds of zones. I get the feeling that any bad reviews will be from people who has just had a little time on it and not got any further than the Medow.
I believe this should have been one of the built in Software titles on the 3DS, instead of Faceraiders mabey, but I have been happy with my purchase and dont regret buying it. The reason I think it should have been included with the 3DS is because it uses basically all of its funtions, the AR card, QR card reader, Spotpass and yes even though the reviewer said otherwise it use the 3D quite subtley and it looks fine in 3D.

I enjoy creative games and it is one of those titles which the Flipnote generation can get lost in easily. I would have given it an 8 out of 10, because all though it isnt perfect it does use a lot of the 3DS functions, plenty of content and solidly built... improvements to it would be mabey recording your own voices for the formees, changing background music and making your own quests but im sure Nintendo will be working on some kind of sequel or spin off.

Just a quick question for anyone who owns the game: What's the gameplay like? I've heard loads of stuff about the customizable side of things but not so much about the gameplay.

@Jamouse

Its basically a Sandbox world where you go on mini missions after talking to various Formees. As you create more Formees the world becomes bigger and you have access to other areas like the Ocean where you swim around underwater rather than the basic platform areas at the begining.
Im not too keen on the controls having to rely on the touchscreen for moving and jumping etc but it works well enough.
If you like time limited Sandbox games then you will like it, if you need to have a real storyline to follow with a true begining, middle and end then you will be dissapointed. I read someone describing it a bit like animal crossing and I can understand what they mean by that. So yeah, there is gameplay here but it is sandboxed, bitesized and with no true direction...

...the Quests can be quite funny though, like trying to make a Golden Poop or tryng to eat as many Shrooms as you can. lol Reminds me of being a student. lol

Sure this game isn't going to be the Game that brings people to the Eshop, but for what it is, it's a fun game. You can spend ages creating different characters and customising the world. I can see a huge appeal to children, and even adults. Unless you have some sort of street cred, in which you can't be seen playing games with personality, then I can't see why the older gamer won't enjoy this. Especially when you can created a flying car with a top hat.

(Can I just leave them there to dance and air-hump?)

It's a game mainly for creative people. If you don't excel at art (even of the cut and paste variety), you won't enjoy it. I, however, do so I love it.

When I close my eyes, I see pixilated blood.

anybody else seen the almost perfet Formee of Metaknight. I QR'd it somewhere off the net and cant remember where but it works great. Also managed to find Mario & Sonic too. This game will be great once its gathered a large enough community.

I got It and i am loving it! It's cool to see your creations come to life. Be warned, this game is mostly aimed to artistic people, so If you're not one of them, you might not enjoy it.

OK ... you guys sold me on this. I downloaded it, too. I have 2 questions for those of you who've are a bit further along in the game.
1. Are you able to go back and edit the creatures you created?
2. Is there a way to layer the forms? Like, I was making a bird, and wanted one wing to be behind the bird (on it's far side), and the other out in front. They both seem to be on top of it's body.

1. Yes, as long as they aren't in the sanctuary, you can edit them.
2. Sort of....it takes a bit of experimenting. For example, heads are always on top of bodies no matter what and eyes, mouth are always on top of head. "base" objects seem to always be on top. if you have 2 of the same type of thing (2 heads) the earliest object will be on bottom. Its not much of a problem because if you can find a head object, you can likely find a body version very similar to it or exactly the same. After you play with it a lot you'll get better at anticipating what you need to do to get the results you want.

Hope I helped. When you have a bit more experience, be sure to pop over to the other Freakyforms thread and share your stuff

I like making the critters, but I suck at playing the game! I've never been very good at platform games, and using the stylus to walk is a pain! (Why didn't they let you use the joystick?) So I can't see me getting very far in game mode.

@Victoria: I almost never walk. I either fly or slingshot around because walking is so slow. I hope you get more used to exploring because that's the only way to gain more options for creating.

It gets easier when you unlock the Ocean and the City. In the Ocean the stylus works well because the fish move really easily in the water rather than that awkward walk in the Medow. In the city Formees with wheels move really well on the road surface. So dont worry I didnt like the walking with the stylus either but im getting further into the game.

I found most of Ign review's really make little sense. They miss key features out of reviews and start comparing it to sumthing they seen on 360 or ps3 even though there not handhelds.

In all honesty ign reviewers are probably 360 or ps3 fan's and while i have no problem with them supporting there chosen system. It seem's sum reviewers take it apon them self to review sumthing out of there comfort zone like nintendo 3DS title.

And as they see it!

if it isnt dark, drenched in blood or online they dont understand it!

But you got to remember its ONE person's opinion.

If you like it doesn't really matter what he/she thinks about it!

I think you should judge game on its own merits and not compare!

Game is clearly aimed at people with imaginations, creative people!

Who are looking for away to experiment and create:)

if looking for more focused adventure then this clearly not for you!

But £5.40 cant really complain
it uses good few of 3DS features and once few more people buy it there will be host formees to exchange play around with.

am picking it up on monday when i get paid:D

Thanks for the advice guys! Any tips are greatly appreciated. One more question.... Am I supposed to be able to break the boxes at ground level? It's saying I need to get the flag, which seems to be underground, but I can't figure out how to get down there. (I am so not a platform playin' kinda gal. LOL But at least I got a few more items unlocked.)

That ones easy. Ya know how you would pull down and release to sling up? Just pull up and release to sling DOWN on blocks and break them

The good thing about this game is that you open up more levels by making more Formees so even if your not good at certain parts of the game you can avoid those parts of the plannet in favour of the other parts. Did I say I prefer the Ocean out of the three parts ive unlocked so far.

Moco_Loco

@Tate23: I think the biggest problem is that Lucas M. Thomas has to rush the download reviews out on the same day the games are released. Therefore, his reviews are more like first impressions than true reviews of complete games. I still look forward to reading those impressions, but ultimately consider multiple sources.

IGN actually has quite a strong Nintendo team right now, with Audrey Drake and Richard George standing out as excellent, fair, balanced reviewers. You may not always agree with them, but they call them as they see them.

As for the game, I'm still on the fence. The music in the trailer annoyed the heck out of me. I would like a 3DS game that's a little more laid back (can't wait for Animal Crossing to hit) to play before going to bed, but if the music is that jarring then this game won't work for that.

If you find yourself spiritually drifting (as I was for far too many years), remember that Jesus can and will walk across the water to reach you and bring you back to shore.

Birdman

@Moco_Loco - May I recommend Professor Layton & the Last Specter's London Life mode? It's definitely relaxing and slow-paced like AC games, provided you're not spewing profanities about how hard it is to catch a certain fish for a quest. It's also fairly lengthy, so it should kill a lot of the time between now and when AC 3DS releases.

Exactly.
