I know the game only came out yesterday, but has anyone had a chance to play? I'm super interested in this one!

it arrived yesterday and I just started a few minutes ago. As far as I know its the same as the one on DS with a few extras, including an extra day. So anyone who played the original can probably give you a good impression of the gameplay. The 3D effects were pretty good during the intro screen.

I didn't play the original so I'm not sure of all the stuff that was added, but it does seem like most of the gameplay takes place on the bottom screen (meaning little 3D). Not that I'm complaining, I'm liking the story and the combat seems solid. You've got some English voices to go along with the text, which are surprisingly less annoying than I anticipated (I prefer Japanese voices but I don't think they're an option). Giving your character a name, a last name, and a nickname is a nice touch.

By the way, if you're planning on getting it, you might want to act soon. I've heard this game will be a limited run. That could always change, but that's why I picked it up day 1.

Thx dudes!
From what I've read, the game is pretty much identical to the DS version, adding only an extra day, voice acting, and 3D during the intro sequence. Not sure if its worth it to buy, or if its better to hunt down the original.

I picked it up today, been playing for almost an hour.
I was worried the voices would sound kinda...lame, but they actually work pretty well. To me, they sound pretty believable at any rate.
The combat is pretty cool, I've never played anything like it before (This is my first Shin Megami game)

I'll report more later, I'll think I'll enjoy this one. I'd recomend a buy for anyone who hasn't played the original, if you have, buy it anyway. This is one of the best 3DS titles out there.

I dug this one up because I just put it in my 3ds till I beat it this go around. I'm going to start it over though Even though I have over 90 hours into my first play through. Yes, to me It's that good and worth the start over. I have plenty of other games to beat as well but this one has been calling to me for a while now!

Rise from your grave!

Seriously, though, I intend to do the same. I clocked over 60 hours and didn't even finish it. I'm going to restart this on an easier path.

I also need to get back to my Law/Neutral playthrough of SMT IV.

I still need to beat that as well but I'm not starting that one over just for the simple fact I want to see the ending I started even though someone spoiled some major plot point for me.

You still haven't finished? Which route are you locked in to?

Would I sound crazy if I said that Bravely Default on hard mode is harder than SMT IV on normal difficulty? I'm really surprised by how difficult BD is getting at this point, especially considering how easy it was until now.

Of course, I'm not using any of the social stuff they force on you in the game. If I beat it, I want to be the one to beat it.

Why must you keep bringing up games I've yet to finish lol.

I believe it's the natural path and I've been forever stuck on Beelzebub. It's so bad I don't even know how anybody got past him lol.

Before you bring any other games up no I haven't even touched untold lol!

I hear the last boss can be difficult, but it's hard to say how hard since it turned out at least one of the people who told me that went the hardest route and screwed up their character skills/demon combinations to a point where they had to start over....

Anyways, I got pretty far in the DS version, but I got the 3DS version now so I think I'll switch to that version instead of finishing the DS version.

To be honest, I've barely scratched the surface of Untold either. Although when I do get back to it, I think I'll restart in classic mode. Etrian Odyssey just doesn't feel right with pre-prepared characters, cutscenes, etc.

I've beaten the game a couple times (American). Really excellent SRPG, but the second to last boss in the game is absolutely ridiculous. The only way to beat it is to grind. The second game was much better at this. Thankfully, new game plus makes it easier. It's unfortunate, because the entirety of the game prior to that boss is pretty well-balanced by comparison.

Also, I liked the voice acting in it. Some have different opinions, though. I also liked the tone the story went for. Very consistent in its dread, but always willing to shine rays of hope throughout its course.

If/when the sequel reboot comes out, that's the one to watch for. It was truly the best SRPG on the DS, and with voice acting and higher-res sprites, it can be a darn good contender with Fire Emblem Awakening (although I wouldn't say it's better than that one).

Best thread ever

Wouldn't say much different. They added a day so this goes to day 8. The graphics have been enhanced but very little 3d was added. As in only on demon fusing and the opening movie and that's it. What really sets it apart is the excellent voice acting. To me that alone is worth it.

On to the first day. I had forgot some of the features and where to attack first so I'm glad I started over. Fully enjoying this once again and on my XL this go around as well!
