A word to those who have yet to get the game about Streetpasses.
I hope other companies take a leaf out of Capcom's book about Streetpasses because unlike other games you get the equivilant of a Streetpass within the game just by playing with someone online. That means that if there is nobody living near you who plays this game, you can still recieve aid and missions from people you co-op with online. I really hope this is something they implement in Monster Hunter.
But one thing about these missions, they often have the person you have spotpassed infected and needing putting out of their missery, I had a very odd feeling when playing one mission online and we had to go and kill a sluggy mutant zombie with my user name above its head. lol

Sonic Generations does that too.

@K964, thanks for letting me know about that. I was thinking about getting that and now I have even more reason to do so.

Just picked this up today. Absolutely engrossing. By far the greatest gaming experience that the 3DS has to offer so far on all counts. That is gameplay, characters, narrative, production and graphics. Best of all, given that this is basically the first "adult" title for the 3DS (unless you count Shinobi), Resident Evil should serve as an inspiration for other developers of the 3DS as to what is possible. Seriously, there needs to be more mature titles for this system.

I wonder how this game is doing in Japan? I agree this is a very important game for Nintendo to show other developers that mature games if done well can sell on the system. The DS didn't have a chance in this department as grand theft auto didn't do well at all. However that came late in the DS life span. I'm hoping this and games like heroes of ruin can show people the 3ds means business and people well buy this system for more mature games and or grand multi player games.

The ultimate way for mature games to be shown their full potential is for John Carmack (of ID fame) to be approached by Nintendo to develop an FPS for the 3DS. Better still, just port over Doom 3. It would be incredible. Maybe even get Quake 2 up on the eStore. He's a fan of handheld gaming so it's possible.

Resident Evil should be doing fine in Japan. It obviously won't compete with Mario or Zelda, but it would be up there.

As for GTA DSi, I thought it was the best in the entire series. That's the GTA I grew up with.

Wouldnt you consider smashing peoples heads in two with your knee or smashing the back of their skull in with the handle of your gun adult like in Mercenaries, or the tourture that happens in Splinter Cell or the sexyness of DoA Dimensions...
the point being that the 3DS has established itself quite well as an adult system, titles like Snake Eater and Monster Hunter coming out aswell only go to further adding to that.

I disagree Raptor. Just because the system has those games doesn't mean its an adult system. I think a lot of companies already pull some mature games as they thought they wouldn't sell well enough. With the exception of this and metal gear there really isn't a whole lot in the genre to choose from! Nintendo as it wants to appeal to all gamers needs this to sell well. I don't consider half those games you mentioned adult by any means!

The 3Ds has most definitely not established itself as an adult system and I don't think it ever fully will. A couple of adult games (barely) is not enough to warrant it as one. This is Nintendo we are talking about - they have seemed even reluctant to even try ever since the N64. Even though there are a few more mature games upcoming the system as a whole reeks of "child friendly". From the novelties like puzzle and streetquest to the fact that they refuse to release a proper dedicated messenger where you can actually send text messages it just seems like they are continually trying to get rid of their OG fans (the people still living the dream from Nintendo's glory years - such as myself) and are trying to make their market more and more suited for younger and casual gamers alike.

Surely it's enough that the 3DS can handle a game with the graphics of Revelations. Also, if the game sells well enough, that would be enough to convince the stuidios to stick with the 3DS.

Anyway, do we want it to be an "adult system"? What does that entail?

If it would be to the detriment of casual/family friendly games, that wouldn't necessarily be a good thing.

On a different topic, I was looking forward to racking up some play coins this week, but unfortunately, I've contracted my second winter cold in 3 months, and was able to go out, let alone streetpass anyone.

I would like to be able to message each other in the Lobby so you can decide on level, tactics, etc.
Im not so bothered within the game but would be usefull.

Why not be just a system, like the ps3 and 360, and get the best of both worlds... I don't see why Nintendo has to adhere to being only one. btw, get well soon

i agree, RE:R is a wonderful game which is opening up the 3DS to a larger audience.

possible spoilers
I'm stuck on the final boss with only 20 shotgun shells, all the ammo round the room is rifle ammo.
-what options do i have?

green weapon box at side of room... you can access it when big boss dude is resting or before fight. I had a rocket launcher from half way through game I didnt use and it came in handy for finishing him off. Close call though.

This game is really fun.
I've only finished the first six chapters (on Casual) so far as I'm not really that great at this type of game.
Raid mode is good fun though and I'll be sure to play through again on a harder difficulty setting after I finish it.

Can anyone tell me if they like the circle pad pro and if it is steadier to hold in your hands with the 3D on and if Raid Mode is the Campaign on Co-op or different missions all together

CPP works well and is secure / sturdy enough. I tend not to use it as much just because im used to RE:Mercs controls.

Co-Op Raid missions use the same map layout and to some degree represent sections of the Campaign, however you have a much larger variety of enemies and suchlike so there is plenty of surprises. Not only that the three different difficulties each pose different challages, not just more / harder enemies but in some cases completely different monsters to what you have already encounted.

...not to forget about the Bonus Raid mode that basically covers the whole ship. The bonus levels covers you from level 1 enemies all the way upto level 50 so its only worth tackling when your strong enough and packing some decent weappns.
