Could they not have announced this delay at any point other than the planned day of release. Seems kind of sloppy to me.

I think it's good to make sure the game is well made when it releases, but this feels extremely last minute to me.

Bit chintzy to announce a delay as the clocks get ready to strike. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth, be going to Fast RMX for my fix now.

Agreed. They clearly knew it would be delayed, which, you know, it happens. Not really the end of the world.

Communication is everything though, and often the difference between keeping your customers/prospective customers happy, or not.

With my backlog, I wasn't planning to get this for a while, anyway. Hell, at this rate, I'll play (and maybe even finish) most of my games on the successors to my current consoles.

This delay struck me hard. I was really really looking forward and counting down to this release. Just to be brought back to a lighter time when this game (and movie) was released. I was a teen and life was just simpler and easier. The power of nostalgia.

Ah well, obviously everybody being safe is the priority and I will pick this up day one when it launches. Hopefully not too long from now.

I'm honestly relieved that it's both PS4 and Switch. I'm so used to companies only snubbing Nintendo that honestly that's what I fully expected.

Obviously they discovered a major bug, or even thought of a major enhancement, so that's the delay. If working from home was a problem, they would have seen it coming weeks ago.

Well guess I'll hold onto Fast RMX for a bit longer.

I had a feeling this might happen. It's understandable given current circumstances, but as others have said it's very last minute.... Poor on the communication front!!
Providing it's a good remaster I will pick it up, just now at a later date..

I just never got into this one. This game was one of those games that I would watch a friend play at their house sometimes. I think I rented it once along with a few others so it got overshadowed. In those days I was drowning in games across N64 & Playstation I couldn't keep up.

And now the limited run super bonus edition gets announced with some random European version one month later on release day.

That is absolutely no problem! I mean, it really feels like getting screwed over, but you brought Corona into it in some way, so it's absolutely alright. 👍

Not entirely mad at this. There are too many games in the backlog that I've been neglecting that it literally hurts to think about.

A bit tacky to delay it the day of release, but at the very least, it isn't a new game. This game has been out for at least two decades already.

Ion Fury is released in two days, so that will give me my nostalgia fix.

Never got around to playing this SW game, but it looks fun.

Well with the Xenoblade Collector's Edition to think about this month, I could do with this being delayed.

@bluemage1989 while it does seem a bit sloppy we really don’t know the circumstances and we are living in the weirdest of times at the moment. They may have been waiting for approval up until the very last minute but then got told they’ll have to wait a bit longer. Maybe they’ve been directly affected by the virus and notifying customers in advance was the last thing on their mind. I’m prepared to cut them some slack.

I read yesterday it's launching on May the 24th now, not sure if that's been cancelled now too.

The whole because of covid thing is getting old. Working from home should entirely be possible, heck they amount of ads I see for virtual meeting spaces shows that it can be done! If digital us the future as most of you would claim them there’s trans need at all to have work like this involving commutes or going to a office outside the home. So which is it?

With the best will in the world you cannot get as much done as you can working in an office together as lack of easy commmunication is real.

Currently making videogames is not classed as essential work, shocking I know, and therefore there are still restrictions in many countries to, you know, prevent more infections and death.

Of course not all jobs can be done from home. My factory job can’t be done from home and it’s considered essential business so I’ve been working through all this mess.

The point is they could’ve got things done from home especially since no manufacturing is involved since it’s a digital only release. This just seems like a convenient excuse for not meeting the deadline especially the day before planned release.

Yeah if you work on a computer all day long you can easily do it from home. I’ve a friend that works in software and does it from hone all the time so I know it can be done.

You misunderstood my point entirely. Back in the late 90s to early 00s I could understand delays like this. But our current networking and communication capabilities are more than adequate that jobs involving data should be done without much hassle. I can see Limited Run Games having issues since production has come to a standstill. But this digital only release shouldn’t take as big a hit. I’m just tired of everyone blaming the outbreak for everything. If it had they would’ve communicated so much earlier.

I am working from home for the first time ever after spending all my time working in an office, and dealing with day to day issues is much harder due to the simple fact I can not walk up to someone and ask a question and get an immediate answer. It can delay things for hours, even for simple queries to be dealt with. Mix that in with working to a deadline and sometimes things go off the rails.

Well, I guess it's not like that everywhere: my working hours (and wage) is reduced by 25% (yup, allowed in my country), and apart from the first 2 weeks that were a mess, not even the children, neighbour's noise, Switch's temptation are getting on the way of doing whatever we gotta do currently.

We did a survey and most employees agreed they are more productive working from home, and would like more days like that when the pandemic is over.

My main issue is GameOtaku has no experience working from home and was making an assumption and sounding like an entitled ass in the process.

This game was the bee's knees when it first came out. I intend to buy it whenever it comes to the Switch. The 64 version, in my opinion, is better than the PS2 version, I have played both.

In the upper management offices at my work communication is atrocious. Most would rather send an email than walk 5ft to talk to someone. There’s a word for that, laziness I believe fits it right. Disorganization and lack of communication is killing productivity even without covid. Don’t kid yourself. Office types have it easy compared to manual labor grunts line myself. You CAN and are ABLE to work from home on a PC. A machined part cant be done as easily.

This kind of game would be a lot better online, and that would be a good reason to delay it. But, as it is, this game should have been ready before they made the announcement.

@Krambo42 The LAN play is interesting, because my friends are mostly techy, so setting up some ipsec tunnels on our routers and playing each other over the internet is something we might do.

Working from home slows down the work, exactly because your boss isn't breathing down your neck, which means deadlines are not met hence the delays.

@TheFullAndy my wife is working from home over the last two months and although it was a learning curve has adapted. She works at a director level in finance at an international company and makes good money (+150k). She was offered a job at her companies Germany office and she would be able to work from home in Canada. I'm not saying every job is possible to do at home but clearly there are several jobs that can be done.

I'm the entitled husband cashing those paychecks and looking after the kids. Just because you don't work in a traditional environment doesn't mean you don't have insights on how some things are working. PS I am owning your "entitled" statement even though I think you inappropriately threw it around.

I used entitled at someone yapping about games not being released by the anticipated deadlines and saying Covid 19 is not a valid excuse anymore. That is entitled.

If it’s not ready then say it’s not ready. But they could’ve communicated it way sooner than the day before release. Honestly they should’ve known a week or two before they weren’t going to make it and announced the delay punctually. All it would’ve took was one post on Twitter, Facebook or another outlet.

I have a stink about how last-minute it was.

I would consider this an unprofessional approach as there had been absolutely no other media about it prior to the side announcement in the Mini Direct.

I think it would have saved face to respond to this matter more than 12 hours to the deadline, or at least give us more than an "indefinite period."

Of course it makes a difference. It’s how a delay is announced and when that makes a difference. As far as games go I’d rather they iron out all the rough edges and not release 200 updates and patches, especially when it comes to buying it physically.

So the port was 99.9% complete but a sudden issue arose that meant it could not be released today in complete working order and rather than release it today with the promise of a patch they took the brave decision to delay it at the last minute and let everyone know as soon as that decision was made

We don’t know the extent of how behind they were. Just that due to complications of working from home it was delayed. If they have had problems this long with working from hone then the date they set was no longer valid and should’ve updated accordingly.

This is why communication is so important, but no one wants to communicate anything! A machine broke down we need to fix it probably take a few days so expect delays. Hey you’re behind on your production! Why?! Did you not get the message about the machine breaking down? This is a conversation almost word for word a few months ago at my work! See is it that hard to communicate?!

Oh man I really do hope it does come out for the switch -this seriously sucks...and for some reason..I don't think that's the reason why they're delying it...I have this hunch that it maybe something else :/ but until then cannot wait for this game.

As someone who works from home and knows people who do the same, this is nonsense. Production shouldn't be slowed down as drastically as this.

The very least they should’ve communicated sooner than the day prior of release. At the end of the day it’s a job that can be done from home so it should done just as if you were at the office. Anytime delays happen they always look for a scapegoat and covid is just an easy thing to blame for practically anything at the moment whether it’s true or not.

If anything else after this they should look into domestic production rather than relying on China and bringing jobs closer to home. That would take care of shortages and limit exposure to foreign viruses. International commerce is important but when you rely so heavily on one place this happens. It sure would save on shipping costs even if production costs more. Sounds like a fair trade off to me.

Sorry but work at home environment is not a valid excuse. I've had to work from home for nearly 11 years now, and recently has been challenging to say the least with people stuck here, especially my adhd+odd riddled kid who goes nuts and cares nothing for boundaries. I still got my work done and at an acceptable time.
