Sonic The Hedgehog

Next year, the Sonic the Hedgehog series celebrates its 30th anniversary. Sonic Team's Takashi Iizuka has already confirmed the development of the next major Sonic title is underway and stated how Sega is "preparing" for the blue blur's birthday.

Now, to add to this, Sega's CEO Ivo Gerscovich has mentioned how the company has "exciting" Sonic-related news that it can't wait to share. He spoke about this during a recent interview with GamingTrend. Here's the full exchange (thanks, TSSZ):

The Sonic franchise is planning on celebrating its 30th anniversary next year; is there anything that fans should expect in the coming months?
Yes! We have some exciting news that we can’t wait to share. But you’ll have to stay tuned for details…

Finally, any last words or pieces of advice you’d like to give our readers?
Stay tuned our friends, Sonic’s just getting started…….

This follows on from an announcement at the start of the year that Sega would be sharing Sonic news on a regular basis leading up to the anniversary. Sonic also experienced a strong cinema debut earlier this year, banking more than $300 million USD worldwide.
