If you are something of a retro gamer and like to dabble on the dark side with classic Sega consoles, then you might be interested to learn that Retro-bit is releasing a series of officially endorsed controllers which are compatible with the Sega Genesis and Sega Saturn.
The Genesis / Mega Drive edition is a replica of the iconic 6 button pad and is perfect for playing Street Fighter on. There is a black version and a clear blue version. It can be yours from 5th April.
The Saturn version comes in 2 variations, classic black and slate grey. The slate grey one also comes with a USB option if you wanted to use it with a PC and not just the classic console. These will be available from 15th April.

Are they gonna be compatible with Switch and games like SEGA Mega Drive Classics or SEGA Ages?
I'm hoping the USB version of the Saturn pad will work with the Switch, through an adapter if need be. If not, might get one anyway if it reviews well enough.
I'll keep an eye out for the McFerran analysis then...
@Gabriel87 I'm hoping it'll work with the Mayflash Magic-NS adapter, though there's a good chance the button assignment will be less than ideal. There's another, more expensive adapter that lets you reprogram these configurations, but even as a bit of a controller junkie I don't care enough to do that right now.
Love the blue md controller anyone know if these will be available in the UK ?
Found it now your link is for genesis it’s listed on amazon Uk as megadrive but not out until 28th April
@ReaderRagfihs At $15/$20, I find it hard to believe these will be anything but a complete disappointment. Hope I'm wrong - especially since they also announced a wireless Dreamcast controller a while back, which I would love to have if it didn't suck.
The Saturn controller really is great for fighting games. Doesn't seem like it will be compatible with Switch, though. Unless I missed something...
@ReaderRagfihs 8bitdo has a fully wireless one coming out soon too, and I have been impressed by all their products none have disappointed me yet. http://www.8bitdo.com/m30/ Nintendo Life needs to show theirs too!.
@Jokerwolf Ahem.

If the USB one will work on my Switch, PS3 & PS4 then I am interested!
@Yorumi Well, you have to think, 20+ years of use vs a year or less, they will naturally feel different over time. I personally am not that anal and they feel way more than close enough to me.
Unless this is compatible with the Switch, then I'll just be banking on that gorgeous 8bitdo one coming out soon.
@Yorumi I can understand that for sure, sometimes finding the right fit is hard.
Now if we can get a reliable Sega Saturn to go with the controller I'll be happy. They're not the best aging console ever made..
Now these look legit.
I remember when NintendoLife posted about Nintendo.
Does anyone know if the Saturn's USB editions will work with the Super Retro-Cade?? Now THAT would be impressive. (Will still buy some Genesis/Mega Drive ones for my CDX)
Now those are some sweet looking controllers. I'll await a review and a rigorous testing session, though.
@Reverandjames despite this article being on NintendoLife, these controllers don't work with Nintendo products. Unless you were talking about the Steam version of the collection.
The article should really state these aren't Nintendo compatible products. Maybe they would rather cash in on referral links from misinformed buyers?
oh man, I've been looking for replacements for my genesis. haven't been able to play it because the controllers just got too old. the originals just couldn't stand the test of time.
Grabbing a Saturn pad for my Sega Saturn and one for my PC!
the Saturn Controller was THE BEST for fighting games... so much so that I bought an adapter for my DreamCast to use Saturn peripherals
@FX102A my thoughts, exactly
I pre-ordered these about a month ago for my Saturn, hopefully they feel like the originals.
@ReaderRagfihs for me they are easily the best pre analogue stick controller and Sega's rolling dpad was always fantastic
@DanteSolablood I don't know if my console even works anymore thing is so old.
Okay I might just have to order one of those Saturn controllers. Best controller ever IMO.
The bluetooth version that will be launched later on will have native Switch support so you should probably wait a little bit instead of getting a wired version.

@Jokerwolf
They did a whole article on the M30.
@ludotaku Nice.
Is it just me or does this seem out of place on a Nintendo site?
I hope the wireless bluetooth versions came out soon. Those are the only ones I waited for my entire life.
This might be a Nintendo site but mostly everyone here has some kind of respect for Sega and SNK so when products or news about them pop up it feels okay.
The wireless 8bitdo option looks solid. These look great... but it's all in how the D-pad and buttons respond. A shame there's no early review on these as Amazon pre-orders in the US, at least for the Genesis options, are sold out already
Here's the thing for lackluster sales.
1. NO NFC
2. No Wireless
3. No Rumble
4. Needs adapter for Switch
I currently only have eight Saturn controllers, so I'm going to need to buy two of these so I can have a full 10-player battle in Saturn Bomberman.
Well my saturn controllers are toast (the hazards of getting a system second hand). So I will get two. Can’t be worse than what I have.
@roadrunner343 My thought exactly. There’s simply no way they’re decent quality at that price.
@ReaderRagfihs The USB Isn't gonna be compatible with the Switch, but there's good news today: You can use a Bluetooth Controller for the Switch. Perfect for Sonic Mania and ToeJam & Earl: Back in the Groove!
My original wired pads still work just fine. Psyched for wireless, Retro-Bit!
