Arc System Works and PQube have shared more details surrounding the releases of both Guilty Gear and Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R on Switch, revealing that they'll actually be available together as part of a very special bundle.
Launching this spring, both the original Guilty Gear and XX Accent Core Plus R - the latest updated version of Guilty Gear X2 - will arrive in one tasty fighting bundle - the Guilty Gear 20th Anniversary Edition for Nintendo Switch. You'll also be able to pick up both separately as digital versions if you prefer.
We've gathered each game's description and a couple of screenshots from today's press release for you below:
Guilty Gear
"In 1998, one game made huge waves within its genre: Guilty Gear for the original PlayStation. Spectacular special moves that brought the console to its limits, a hardrock soundtrack that still has to meet its match, innovative mechanics and unique charactersthat kicked off an incredibly complex and epic anime story will equally fascinate fighting game fans today, as it did 20 years ago!"
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R
"First released in 2008 in Japan, GUILTY GEAR XX ΛCORE PLUS R is the final installment and epitome of the Guilty Gear XX series that polished everything introduced in the 12 previous installments to reach optimal balance. Mechanics like the universal overhead attack "Dust" as well as "Roman Cancel", which allows players to cancel all kinds of actions and therefore increases their options dramatically, set the bar for the series' sequel: Guilty Gear Xrd."
As noted above, the games arrive on Switch this spring, although no exact date or pricing has been given just yet.

There's so much excitement here for this, it's amazing!
I can't quite get into Guilty Gear or BlazBlue for some reason. I've tried....but something just never clicks for me with it. I do hope the online for this fares better than BB:CTB.....the online for that was dead within a month on Switch, unfortunately.
@NEStalgia - It was? I, myself, have yet to put it in my Switch yet, despite owning it, although to be fair, I bought it in a huge eBay sale with a ton of other games too once I got my Switch... that's unfortunate for sure, but it's not like I was going to buy it on a different platform, so...
@WaveBoy
Eh, no point in getting Xrd til they stop making revisions of it anyways.
Yes as a Guilty Gear fan for over 18 years now this is something I'll definitely be getting. Here's hoping they also give us a version of Guilty Gear X and Xrd soon.
@EmmatheBest Yeah, it was really sad. It was a great game, and personally I found it more appealing than core GG/BB games for some reason, but the online, back in July, was pretty bad, with only a few people wandering around in the lobby rooms, and then when you finally got a match it was some super pro that could turf you before you even move - clearly the PS4 hardcore players that bought it on Switch to have portable practice... I haven't checked it post-Smash, but that can't be a fun lobby...
I'm so happy I could expl-
Day one physical.
BlazBlue, MK11, DBFZ, Pokken, SF, all the ACA Neo Geo fighers... loving all the fighting games the Switch is getting. I NEED to find time to finish coverting my WiiU Tekken Fightstick...
Physical would do more to boost sales.
@NEStalgia
"Within a month."
After Switch Online went paid, yeah.
I lost track of how many Guilty Gear games are out there. This could have been a more complete collection.
But... Is there going to be a retail release with normal distribution or is it a LRG crap?
@WaveBoy Uh that "old Vita game" besides not originating there is by far the best guilty gear, not to mention one of the best fighting games ever made.
I get it may have limited appeal to the casual crowd but for fans of fighting games this is the optimal timeline.
OMG DAY ONE PURCHASE
I'm so ready for these! I freaking love Guilty Gear!
Sold sold sold.
Great news that its physical too! I've been wait for news of this since it was announced last year and seemingly dropped off the face of the earth.
@WaveBoy I mean, fair deuce. If you have the Wii game you're set, Vita would've been something of a reduced experience.
As for XrdRev#s I haven't lost hope yet given DBFighters was ported with relative ease. My only worry lies in how base PS4 struggles with frequent frame drops out of gameplay. Edit: in Xrds
Whoah... looks awesome!
@NEStalgia I feel the same way about GG and BB... I LOVE fighting games, always have, but SOMETHING about GG and even moreso BB I just couldnt get into. Well, for BB, its definitely TOOOOOOO technical, tbh
Hmmm... why not just release the Xrd series (unless they planning on it)
I was never great at fighting games, but after getting a copy of GG:XX on PS2 to practice with, I eventually got pretty good. Never could beat all the challenges to unlock everything in the game, but I could hold my own. Going back to playing Street Fighter afterwards was like a walk in the park in comparison.
the first one is the only good gg and I am grateful in see it being bringed to Switch.
I want so much this guys forget all the characters after the first game and begin do a "guilt gear zero" or alpha like street figther alpha with the art, gameplay and speed of the first gg game.
So wanting this
DAY ONE PURCHASE!
@Kal_ Worse: It was before it went paid!
@SwitchForce It IS getting a physical release in Europe.
@Moroboshi876 No, it's not LRG. However, pqube, who is distributing this, will only do so in Europe, so you'll have to import if you're outside of there, unless Arc Sys announces a physical release for the US, which I find unlikely.
@JedRock Yeah, I can't place it. I man KoF is technical (counters, then counter counters, then counters while doing this and counters while doing that, and counters for this time of counter while you're countering that kind of counter with forward forward, back, back, z, to forward HP to circle back, circle back, z-forward to LK then circle back circle back LP. It's a mess. yet it's still perfectly fun and playable unless you're up against masters who are good at that stuff.
GG and BB....seem like you're button mashing without a clue what's going on if you haven't mastered all that stuff I want to like it, but it just never happens.
...And I'm a Tekken fan.....
@WaveBoy I was joking mostly, but honestly I'm planning on getting this anyways since I've never played a Guilty Gear game. Getting the original and the best version of XX in one package is a pretty attractive offer.
YESSSSS!! day one for me!
Love me some fighters and whilst Blazblue is brill I always missed GG.
Now just gotta wait for KoF and SS
Not for me but glad it's coming for people who enjoy it 🙂
You can't see my face right now but I am wearing a ear to ear smile of pure joy.
Neat. I played guilty gear on the psp years back. It was fun for what it was.
'Guilty Gear'
I always thought that was the strangest name. Apparently it roughly comes down to an abbreviation of it's synopsis:
“Mutant cyborg wants to kill all the other mutant cyborgs because he had a hand in their creation”
Glad I looked it up, but it's still a pants name.
@NicolausCamp "@SwitchForce It IS getting a physical release in Europe.

Where Are you getting that info-Link??
@NEStalgia yea that's the thing... SNK games are hella technical, too, but Im ALL about that SNK life. I think its coz that Arc System games make everything seem like its a special move and then, as you said, a button mash fest. That said... I DO like P4 Arena, BB:CTB, and DBF. oh and yea, ha, I likes me my Tekken... I was more of a Virtua Fighter guy... too bad it never went past 5
**sarcasm mode on**
Maybe they can put 21 Savage music in these to make them “hip” for the current generation of gamers.

"the Spring 2019 release of the Guilty Gear 20th Anniversary Edition on #Switch ! This includes the original Guilty Gear and GUILTY GEAR XX ΛCORE PLUS R in one box, and separate digitally! Original Guilty Gear will be on PS4 digitally! #GuiltyGear20th"
This bundle is absolutely PERFECT for me. I bought the original Guilty Gear game from Wal-Mart, but sadly, despite being a sealed copy was missing its disc and was the last copy in stock. I later bought Guilty Gear X2 for PS2, X2 Reload for Xbox, Judgement & Accent Core Plus for PSP, and NOW, I can own the original I never got to play and the final installment I never owned before.
Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R??? Nothing against the game, but I always find this kind of subtitles Japanese companies come up really stupid.
I thought Guilty Gear was a no-brainer, this is fantastic! Here's hoping to an eventual port of Xrd Revelator in the future. Shouldn't be that hard since like Dragon Ball FighterZ (another Arc Sys game), it runs on UE4.
@BlueBlur101 Xrd runs on UE3
@GrailUK Oh My bad totally lol
Absolutely wonderful. I love Accent Core to death and I have never played the original GG, so this is a day one for me.
