The hype surrounding Nintendo Labo seems to have deflated almost as quickly as it arrived, but that doesn't mean that people aren't still being wonderfully creative with Nintendo's latest wonder.
The video above, shared on YouTube by geniway, shows us just how powerful the Nintendo Labo Toy-Con Piano can be in capable hands. Rather than sticking to the traditional sounds and instrumentation representative of the series, the melody is played with a helping of synth-based electronica vibes and just a touch of dubstep. Groovy (as the kids might say).
Have you created any Nintendo Labo masterpieces of your own? Does this inspire you to dust off the piano and give it another go? Maybe someone should compose a piece that can be played in the background of the Switch eShop...

I remember LABO. Thats LABO in the video right
The title of this article is so shady lmao
Why does the vid keep changing angles? it's making me seasick.
Is it still to early to say Labo burned out as fast as Labo would literally burn if you lit it on fire?
I'd love to see them break the individual kits out from the variety pack and sell them at a lower price with a download code for the software.
I know this doesn't help their revenue quite as much, but it would get the individual items of interest out to the enthusiasts that don't care to have tons of garbage around.
What's a Labo?
Ha, just kidding. I still want the Robot Kit.
@gloom Remember Nintendo Labo? This is him now. Feel old yet?
Going back and watching the video, that sounds excellent! Just wow! I'm really impressed with some of the things people are doing with Labo, and I hope Nintendo has a way to revitalize it.
Remember when Labo was going to be the biggest thing ever? People on this site who were saying such things seem to have gone awfully quiet on the subject.
@Haywired We're too busy playing with Labo still. It's still really good. My daughter and I have been having a blast using the piano to scan fish for the aquarium.
@Haywired I think it's just because the initial hype has died down. I still like Labo a lot and still plan to buy the Robot Kit, but I'm not as excited as I originally was.
It's still amazing and innovative, but it had its time in the spotlight.
These songs have been completely butchered... into a rather tasty plate of charcuterie! Bravo!
the amount of creativity you can have with LABO is surreal.
LABO has proven to be a successful mixture of digital experiences... but not for all. But we still needed Nintendo to crate it.
I have been building a new toycon with my kids about every other weekend.
We used the RC cars and built a race track on the floor in the next room. I place new obstacles each round and turn the light off. They have to reach the finish line using only the camera on screen while sitting in the next room. They get a kick out of being able to see what the car sees even in the dark.
We're working our way up to the robot suit after we build everything else.
Pretty nice. Labo has almost gone in the mists of time already...
I have to admit I'm shocked Labo fizzled. I don't like it. And I don't think it's a good value. But horray for consumers for not buying into expensive cardboard. I really expected them to fall for it.
Maybe it will resurge in Nov/Dec.
My son got the variety kit for his birthday. So far we've only done the hexbug rc car thing, by far the simplest in the set. But we had a blast with it. Genuine delight discovering the features, like the sumo battling and the infrared camera, making for some fun 'blind' obstacle course time trials.
I don't expect him to go back to each toy con time and time again, but just the sheer sense of fun and experimentation makes this well worth it. People who think Labo sucks because it isn't a proper video game don't really get it. For kids of a certain age (or big kids like me) and of certain mindset, it's like getting an interactive lego set.
Totally get that this isn't for everyone, and on a site for gamers it will only appeal to a minority. Don't really understand why some people seem desperate for it to fail though. I hope it has legs and rewards nintendo for investing in innovative ideas
