As we’ve known since March, Octopath Traveler will launch on 13th July, with a special edition of the game including a pop-up book, map, sound selection CD and replica coin releasing alongside the standard version on the same day.

With this in mind, the wait for the official release of the game just got a tad easier as today’s Nintendo Direct has revealed players will be able to take another early look at Square Enix’s upcoming fantasy RPG an entire month before launch if they download the Octopath Traveler Prologue Demo.

If you download and play the demo from the Switch eShop when it becomes available on 14th June, you will be able to transfer your save data over to the main game when it is finally released. This will include the migration of certain choices you make. Once you’ve purchased the main game you can then live out the stories of each of the eight travelers as you freely explore the world of Orsterra.

Tell us in the comments if you’re excited about the announcement of the Octopath Traveler Prologue Demo.
