Developer Coatsink has announced that its attractively hand-drawn platformer Shu will be arriving digitally on Nintendo Switch on January 23rd 2018.
The game is set across six different worlds and will see you play through fast-paced platforming action, battling to save your friends from a mysterious storm. There are ten recruitable characters for you to find, as well as a whole host of secrets to discover, in a world visually reminiscent in some ways to games such as Rayman Legends (which is not a bad thing at all).
The Switch version of the game will include the Caverns of The Nightjars add-on content as standard and was originally planned to be released last fall; Coatsink's COO Eddie Beardsmore has explained the slight delay, however:
‘With so many great games arriving on the Nintendo Switch in Fall of 2017 - like Mario Odyssey, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and RIVE - we took some extra time to ensure our much-loved platformer got the treatment it deserved. We’re extremely proud to have Shu running at 60fps in hand-held and docked mode.’
Shu was well received when it launched on other platforms last year and looks to be another welcome addition to the eShop - it'll be priced at £7.69 in the UK, $9.99 in North America, and €8.49 in Europe. If you're interested in the game, why not have a read of our our recent interview with Shu's lead designer to find out more (bearing in mind the release date changes, of course)?

I wonder if this dates that Nintendo direct rumour as being before January 23rd....
Game looks nice...but I already have a bunch of games I still want to pick up on Switch so I'll probably pass.
@Dizzard What are the rumours about it being before 23rd January? That seems crazy late in the month to start hyping people about 2018, especially when so little is still known.
Looks like a nicely made game. Gives me vibes of the mobile game Rayman Run (not an insult!). It's going to be competing with Owlboy and Hollow Knight in 2018, though, not to mention the King Knight expansion to Shovel Knight. The indie platformer competition is hotting up already.
Oh! I was just looking at this game the other day. What a pleasant surprise.
@Krull competing with King Knight? Please, these other platformers are all mere pretenders to the throne. haughty laugh
Looks like fun! No problem with the price.
Looks cool.
@Dizzard hopefully is before the 23rd because I can hardly way for it. I need to know whats coming next year.
Oh I remember playing this game at PAX, got totally addicted. @Anti-Matter Check it out, a wonderful platformer with absolutely no combat (AFAIK)
Would pay more than for this easily. Looks greaaat.
@FragRed No there was just a rumour that there would be a Nintendo direct in January. We don't know when exactly in January it's supposed to happen though.
Also I mixed the games up, the rumour doesn't talk about Shu it talks about Fey.
I thought it was coming to retail, and I still prefer it there, even if it's coming for 29,99€. It's 3GB after all. 8,49€ is a bargain.
