HORI's GameCube-Inspired Pikachu Controller Arriving Stateside

I would totally buy a Kirby themed Game Cube controller.

Dam just as i imported one from play asia .

Might just end up buying because pikachu is my smash main, but I really dont need any more controllers as is.

Does this mean the Mario and Luigi ones will come back in stock on Amazon? Also, it would be so awesome if Nintendo would release colored, and character-themed WiiU Pro Controllers instead!

@TheRegginator Agreed. All of my 3rd party controllers always break the second I use them.

Just pre-ordered. Got the Mario and Luigi one when Smash came out. I don't need them for Smash WiiU, but I can use it with Brawl at least since the gamecube controller adapter doesn't work with that game (yet).

Got the pdp one and it's served me well so far. Looking forward to possibly getting this one too though as it looks like it feels more like the original.

Hope this question is not tooooooo dumb but, I know the game cube controller adapters just work on smash but do these Hori ones work on all games ?

@ShoryukenKid This Pikachu controller works on all games that would use a Classic Controller. It's pretty much a Classic Controller in the shape of a Gamecube controller.

Has anyone bought a HORI one? I bought the Peach one from PDP and it sucks in all honesty, I just have it on display but if te HORI ones can take a beating like the real GCN controllers I'll get one.

Ah nice ! Thanks ! At the moment I'm using the classic controller on mario kart while my wife uses the touch screen gamepad . This GameCube-ish controller would be a nice upgrade and cheaper than the pro controller

@ShoryukenKid You should be careful with controllers like this, though. Most of the third party controllers I've bought usually broke a couple of days after I bought them.

That thing looks hideous.. I want a plain coloured one, like a black, white or silver one.

@Kirby_Fan_DL3 yeah I've had my far share of bad controllers especially during the N64 days , Hori is pretty respectable as a fight stick maker though I'm not sure if that'll be the case here. May pick up the Pro regardless cuz March is a ways off and I kinda want something now

@Kirby_Fan_DL3 Actually, after using the Mario version of this controller for Smash Bros extensively, it is actually pretty good quality. It's a bit lighter, and buttons don't have the exact same feel, but it is much better than one of those $8 controllers on Amazon. It's good for people like me who didn't get a Gamecube Adapter, too.

@Kirby_Fan_DL3 Most 3rd party controllers are cheap, but make no mistake- Hori accessories might as well have been made by Nintendo themselves. This brand is top tier, and most consider their hardware as good as Nintendo canon. In fact, a number of their past gen Nintendo controllers are collected by fans right alongside the official ones.

@JaxonH Well, I've never used any of Hori's products, so I wouldn't know. I'm just saying that, from my experience, third party controllers are usually low quality.

@Kirby_Fan_DL3 I was actually wondering what the hell you were doing with these controllers to break them so easily other than throwing them around or stomping on them...
It is true that a whole lot of third party controllers feel cheap and often times they somehow seem to feel lighter in weight than the real thing, but I've had my fair share of third party controllers and although a couple of them have indeed given up on me over time, I still have some third party wireless GameCube controllers here that I've used since I got my Wii and they still work just fine.
As for HORI controllers, like @JaxonH said: they are in a completely different leaugue. Nothing comes closer to the real thing than these things. HORI has an exceptional track record and is known in the business as a company that delivers what they promise. They also have some really good arcade sticks for just about any console out there.
I've been using my HORI controllers for longer than you've been alive and I still have all of them, so if that isn't a testament to their quality and durability, I don't know what is.
If you need or want a good third party controller, HORI is always a safe bet.
The only "problem" (if any) that I have with this particular controller is that, as a fan of the original GameCube controller, it's just a Classic Controller in disguise, so it misses the real analog shoulder buttons with the extra button underneath them.
For most veteran Smash Bros players the adapter that allows actual GameCube controllers to be used will probably be their first choice, I reckon.
On the other hand, this disguised Classic Controller is of course much more versatile because you can use it with many, many more games, as long as they support Classic Controllers...

Have you guys reviewed the Hori pad yet? I'm a little torn between practicing SSB with the Wii U Pro Controller or getting my GCN controller "fix" with an Hori pad. I'd love to hear you guys' take on this controller...

@TheRealThanos As I said, I have no experience with the Hori brand, so I wouldn't know. Most of the 3rd party controllers I get break within the first week or just don't work, I treat then just like normal controllers and they just break/work poorly. I once bought this 3rd party Wii Remote Plus that stopped working a couple of days after I bought it. It just turns off every time it rumbles, and even when I turned the rumble feature off, it still just turns off on occasion.

Don't waste your money on these controllers sweeties. As you've might read there are already plans for next system. So don't get things that might will not work with the next gen. Nuff said

It does seem to me from what you said, that you were very unlucky and I can imagine your hesitation.
Anyways, the bit about HORI was serious, obviously. I would buy one without a doubt. If there is a local game store near you that allows for games and controllers to be tried out before buying, I would go there so you can find out if they are the right controller for you without hurting your wallet...
On a side note: I have frequently bought third party controllers from www.tmart.com. They have almost any controller no matter what console and they have exact replica's as well and the ones I bought are still working after years of intensive use. And the price aren't too shabby either. They also have a warehouse in the States, so depending on where you're at, you should also experience fast delivery. And they send you your order with no extra charge for delivery.

@TheRealThanos It's OK. Thing is, I haven't heard of the Hori brand until now, but from what I hear, it's one of the best third party brands. The only brands my local Wal-Mart sell are Nintendo and the lower quality third party brands. I've learned that the hard way.

@Kirby_Fan_DL3 Then I'd go for a dedicated game shop or, if you don't have one around where you live you could always look at the alternative I gave you. For those prices it's well worth the risk.
And I don't know if you're a big fan of fighting games or shoot em ups (not to be confused with FPS games), but HORI also has a whole range of arcade sticks; appliances that come with a genuine joystick and big buttons stuck in a big box that you plant on your table or desk. Like it was ripped straight out of an arcade cabinet.

@TheRealThanos Well, the only fighting game I play is Smash Bros... I'm not fond of those fighting games with super complex moves and such. And I already have plenty of controllers, I was just putting my opinion on 3rd party controllers out there. Well... I do kind of need another Pro controller for when my Game Pad breaks... but I can live without it.

Damn, I hope Amazon canada gets these aswell. I prefer this over the Mario/Luigi versions.
