Japanese peripheral manufacturer Hori is releasing some pretty cool GameCube controllers to coincide with the launch of Super Smash Bros. Wii U, and it has added another one to the mix which is sure to appeal to seasoned Pokémon fans.
The bright yellow Pikachu pad plugs into the Wii Remote and comes with a three-speed turbo function. It also comes with what appears to be a skin for the Wii Remote, presumably to ensure the whole set-up looks suitably similar.
This new controller hits Japan on December 20th and will cost 3,434 yen. There's no word on whether or not we'll see this pad in the west, but let us know if you'd like to see it by leaving a comment below.

It's pretty cool that you don't need the adapter.
@Damo
The Pdp GameCube controllers are already out last week, are you guys going to make a review? I'm not sure if I'll get the Pdp or Hori ones (November 15 in Europe).
That's a pretty sweet controller.
Gogglechu is actually one of my mains, but no colour on Earth repulses me quite as much as bright yellow.
Shame it doesn't work on GC. Will probably buy it if it makes it here anyway.
I think i going to get this , the mario one, the link one.. and 2 gc controlers for the 8 smash
Plugs into a Wiimote= Not a Gamecube controller.
Still looking for the cheapest solution that is truly wireless gaming, with no cords even to a remote.
4 pro controllers are just very expensive.
Honestly, could they just produce one of these Gamecube Controlled-shaped Classic Controllers that does NOT have character theming?
Like, just a plain purple, black, or white controller. Is that so hard?
I want it. Big fan of Pikachu. I hope it comes here.
@RupeeClock The closes you are going to get is the Smash Bros one. Too bad it needs the adapter.
@SilentHunter382
Yeah, and that's an actual physical Gamecube Controller that will work with the USB adapter for Wii U, Wii, and Gamecube.
These controllers by Hori are actually just classic controllers in the familiar Gamecube shape.
@SpookyMeths Googlechu?
@RupeeClock Ya I get you. I would much prefer them to release a new Wavebird model.
@SilentHunter382 The real question is, why not release a Gamecube controller shaped Wii U Pro Controller? Seriously.
In any case I'm all for the Gamecube USB adapter, since it removes the wireless latency and provides a wired connector for the least latency. It's actually a big deal in fighting games when split-second timing can decide the outcome of a match.
Hmm.. Too yellowish for a controller. Why don't we get something like these...
That's not a GameCube controller, it's a skinned Classic Controller.
Looks awful
This sucks. Considering that I'll need at least 3 GameCube controllers for eight player smash, there's little point in me getting this (unless it is compatible with the GC Adapter) as I already have four classic controllers that hardly ever get used.
I need this in my life.
Don't know why people are saying this is ugly, i like it looks awesome.
This would be great for playing wii games with. I'm not a fan of the shoulder buttons, but they are the closest to acceptable out of all the faux gamecube controllers I've seen so far. I hope this comes to the States.
Why can't Hori make wireless Wii U Pro controllers in the shape of a Gamecube controller??? I would by those in an instant.
Oooh. This one looks cool. But seriously why haven't they done these things?
I can't believe there are so many fans of the gamecube controller. The pikachu one is nice if you're a collector. Even I had a gamecube for years and loved it but never thought THAT highly of its controller. Sure they look cool, but it wasn't big enough for a man's hands. Now the gamepad or Wi U controller pro? Those are a man's controller.
The PDP ones seem cheaper so I'll probably get one of those instead of waiting for these hori ones. While the Gamecube adapter with controllers would be more authentic (perhaps necessary for 8 player matches on the small chance that I can get that many people to play), I rather have something I can use for other Wii and Wii U games.
@VolcanoFlamesNL It's gotta be a matter of time right? I mean I've seen so many people asking for that kind of controller, myself included, it would be so ideal, and I would definitely use that for more than just Smash.
I will never understand why/how Nintendo doesn't realize how brilliant the gamecube controller is. Yes, in this day and age it has a few shortcomings (not wireless, hexagonal analog stick restrictions, lacking LZ, select, and home buttons), but my god, the GC controller is by far the most comfortable standard controller out there, and the button layout is brilliant and super intuitive. It's great they haven't abandoned the GC controller by having the adapter for Smash, and licensing products like this Hori gamepad and the similar PDP fightpads. But really, just give us what we really want: a wireless Wii U pro controller in the same shape and layout as a Gamecube controller with the necessary changes to bring it up to snuff with current game.
That white controller above with the baby buttons i like, i find it funny they want to start releasing all these random remotes though. They all kinda lag in design for my taste. At least they arent an arm and a leg to get though right.
So awesome! I don't play Pikachu in Smash, but I would get one of these if it came to the west!
@BensonUii @AVahne
DO NOT GET THE PDP CONTROLLER!
They were bad when they made their debut during the GameCube era and they are still just as bad. Save your money and get the Hori controllers.
I actually think the Pikachu one looks amazing. Much better than the official Super Smash Bros one. At least that's my opinion. If I didn't already have plenty of GameCube controllers I'd buy this. For sure.
@VolcanoFlamesNL THIS!!
Of course Pikachu gets one... Pikachu everything, now-a-days.
