Rumour: Epic Games to Announce Support for Wii 2

Posted by James Newton

Or 3DS, maybe

We're just one hour away from Nintendo's E3 2011 press conference and Epic Games CEO Mark Rein has dropped a small hint that his company might be bringing support to Nintendo platforms for the first time.

Rein tweeted:

We have another pretty cool announcement coming today at around 10AM PST

Nintendo's press conference will be on its way to winding down by that point, and with the company likely to finish by showing off its new console we could see Epic bringing Unreal Engine 3 to Wii 2, paving the way for games that look as good as Gears of War 3 and its ilk.

Stay tuned to our Nintendo E3 2011 news conference live text for all the updates live.

God I hate you guys for posting this, cause it'll get me hyped and will probably turn out to be some sort of GoW3 announcement for 360 and have absolutely nothing to do with Nintendo.

Augh, Valve supporting Nintendo would be a dream come true.
I've never liked anything by Epic Games, but Valve has always been on my favorites list.

I could care less about Epic supporting Café. I guess it's good?
I don't know. Just don't care.

I guess that cat's out of the bag at this point; the Unreal Engine can run on the Wii U (Batman: Arkham City uses it). I'm not really interested in Epic's games, but it's nice to know that the big game engines are finally coming to Nintendo consoles.
