At least we got an update a couple of months ago in Nintendo Power, so it's at least in better shape than some of the other WiiWare games that are currently in limbo.

The Californian group warns of “substantial doubts over our ability to continue as a going concern”, and has told investors that its cash balance had fallen to $3,000 by the turn of the year, with a working capital deficit nearly at $3 million.
Afraid now that MDK2 WiiWare won't make it to Europe. Poor Interplay.
Yet another disappointment. I was looking forward to this. I especially would have loved to have seen Descent II on WiiWare with it's original redbook audio soundtrack. It was simply superb. One of my all time favorites.
I don't understand why we can't get classic FPS games like Doom, Quake, Marathon etc. on WiiWare, with online play to boot. They get released on Xbox Live Arcade, so why not WiiWare? WiiWare could really use some classic games like that instead of the usual shovelware it gets.
From what I remember reading about Descent on WiiWare, the game is practically finished. I hope they manage to get it out there even if everything else gets canceled... In the mean time you can support Interplay by downloading the excellent MDK2

After reading this I have only one thing to say: "Ouch!" ...I am no longer optimistic as they mention Descent particularly (among other games) as facing cancellation.
Everyone out there who is on the fence about getting MDK2, or any of their VC games on the service, should buy them now if you can. Interplay needs all the help they can get.
I was eventually going to get it anyway, but I'll now buy MDK2 this upcoming afternoon, as I really want to see Descent on WiiWare.

So... is Descent still coming in the fall or will it get canceled or will it get delayed again? I've been waiting for this game ever since I read the Nintendo Power article about it. Hope it stays on schedule and is released in Fall.

That was Fall 2010 that the OP was talking about. At this point, nobody knows. Interplay is dead broke. They've got $3000 cash (that's petty cash for a business) and millions of dollars of debt. I'd say it's not looking too good.
Such a damn shame. Imagine if WiiWare had gotten this game with updated graphics, updated music(or the awesome cd based music the mac and ps1 versions of the game had), modern online play and tight, flluid Wii's motion controls. It would have been a winner and I would have been all over it. Why is it the WiiWare shovelware garbage I could care less about never gets cancelled while a great classic shooter like this does? It's just not fair.
Well, I know it hasn't been "officially cancelled", but based on Interplays recent financial woes, I'd say we're more likely to win the lottery than to actually see this released.

Wow. Thanks for that link! They have Descent 1 & 2(with an expansion) for download for only $2.99 ready for play on all modern Windows machines. That's awesome. I'd rather have the game on WiiWare, but I'm definitely not passing up this for only 3 measly bucks.
Update: OMFG! I just can't win here. I tried to place an order for the games at GOG and my card was declined after multiple attempts. Apparently my bank doesn't allow international transactions on my Visa debit card. I'm so PO'd. Apparently the first game even included the awesome Mac/PS1 CD music. Ugh.
If anyone from Interplay is reading this, please release the game on WiiWare already! And the second game too!
