has anyone else tried the preorder codes? at first i thought they'd be all new weapons with their own unique characteristics, but instead they're just different skins for your sword and revolver. it's not so bad though, since they really do look a lot cooler than what you get in the actual game. here they are if you want them:
Barracuda (semi auto magnum): 3582880 Tataro Magnum 357 (ultra powerful looking revolver): 370402
Kuro No Ken (fancy black blade with etchings): 360378 Nihonto Hana (traditional samurai sword with cherry blossoms etched on it, my favorite): 58855558
Yeah, they're just skins; they'll still be fun for replays, though they don't change in appearance when you upgrade your weapons unlike the standard ones.
Annoyingly they must be entered for use and deleted otherwise. I was hoping entering the codes would unlock them to use at will with a simple tick box like the alternate trousers in Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction...
I'm the kind of person that will replay a game I really enjoy yearly or more often, so Red Steel 2 being only 10 hours is actually a bonus (it also means I'll be able to finish it in time to focus on Sakura Wars).
I also like short games because then I can finish them and move for more... there are so many I haven't played including VC, wiiware, retail, so it's nice if they're not too long actually.
So ends a saga older than time itself. The World's oldest and fiercest army has been led to victory, and a lost generation is delivered from its fear of extinction. As the sun sets over the field of conflict the dinosaurs disperse, hoping never to set foot in this place a...
I would have to agree with that Sean I do like replaying games I really like and the shorter they are the easier that is to do.
this is why i haven't replayed okami yet, because it's such a massive undertaking. but i can play something short and sweet like muramasa all day any day.
Great article on Red Steel Second Opinions just posted on IGN. Personally I agree with Matt's assessment of the game. I think the game really takes advantage of the Wii hardware with great style. Also I must disagree about the adding co-op. I don't think it would work well with this game. It just seems to work best at single player.
I just beat the game today..on easy thought, but I'm replaying it on Ninja, its a fantastic game i say. Obisoft really outdone themselves from the first installment of Red Steel 1.But the 2 bosses from the second from the last stage plus the last boss, both did give me some trouble, and those green-alien-weird wolverine type guys did give me some trouble also. Spent 6 and 1 minute on the game on April 1st, spend 1 or 2 hours lost in the mines of the last stage. But i finally whooped the games ars.
I suspect I'll get through the endgame tonight or tomorrow. Really well done by Ubisoft and I hope it gets sales to match the work they've put into it.
I picked this up yesterday and got it cheaply since I cleaned out the games I no longer care for or play. 12 bucks is all I spent. Not half bad. Love the graphics and art style. Game runs really good also. Took me a bit of getting used to the motion controls. Woke up my arm is a bit soar. Other than that its pretty cool.
This game is full of bugs.I can't believe it was allowed to be released ,this is a console not a pc(patch it later). Money floating in the air,ok thats no problem. Music cutting out in fights ruining the atmosphere. Walking through walls. Getting stuck ,unable to walk thus having to quit the game. Bugs aside I tried 1 of the challenges and it makes you do some of the training again when you now know the moves WHAT ARE YOU THINKING UBISOFT! This is a real shame as the I think the gameplay is brilliant and the controlls work.
i got stuck once, but because the game auto-saves practically every minute i didn't mind it at all. it took all of 20 seconds to get back where i was. the only other glitch i saw is that after the hacker girl you work with gets kidnapped, you can still see her at her desk working if you go into the sheriff's office. that's more funny than game breaking.
I beat it over Spring Break and I loved it all. I'm glad I bought it so early on. Ubisoft has really made a turn around on Wii and quite possible their swan song I liked everything but the ending, the boss was much easier then I expected(Especially After Mr. Invincible whooped my ass in the fights with him and his near unavoidable attacks) and I wanted some more then the hero ....................................(You know the ending if you've played) I would like to seen some sort of epilogue or how about giving us his name! But still the game was great and I may try a few of the challenges now that I've finished the game. I really do hope that the game is getting the sales that Ubisoft hoped for. Its really a good game people.
The only serious bug I encountered was a fight where only one combatant appeared, but the little force field that goes up when you're in battle mode wouldn't go away because it still said there was a live enemy. Thankfully frequent auto-saves made re-doing things to that point pretty painless when I restarted at last checkpoint. I've certainly seen games with worse bugs and more of them, so that absolutely wasn't an issue for me.

yes, that was the one i had too. it happened sometime just after the train crash
I'm pretty sure that is a glitch that most people experience, but thanks due to the constant saves and checkpoints in the game, I just restored to a previous save and the enemies appeared and I never had another problem. While I don't mind the loading times in the game, sometimes they are annoying when your in the middle of action or just trying to get somewhere real quick to complete a task but thats just a pet peeve of mine I'm hard to please.
VGChartz is the source for that. I'd take it with a grain and also keep in mind that it's the Wii and the game hasn't even been on sale for a month yet during an economic downturn.
In Holland, the game debuted on 7 in the Wii Top 10, but stayed out of the all-platforms list. A week later (last Saturday), it dropped a spot to number 8.

If there's any problem with Red Steel 2 selling I'd say it's down to lack of any multiplayer functionality or the audience for this kind of game (first-person action) just being smaller on the Wii.
