I still think it's Link's repressed feminimity in corporeal form. I can just imagine her being all like 'Hey Link, like, let's go shopping!'
'Well.... if you insist.... I have always wanted to buy something more stylish than this green headsock. I mean... has green ever been in style?'
Yes indeed, that would be the greatest way ever to change a silent avatar into a talking character.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
huh. wow. striking resemblance. who is that, though???
The one on the right is the fairy who gives you the Fire & Ice Arrows on the Mother & Child Islands I think it's called? That's in the Wind Waker.
But yeah that's an awesome guess...
It is called the great fairy.

Could be the first Great Fairy ever. All the other Great Fairies could be descendents of this one, if she is a Great Fairy. After all, the events of this game do come before Ocarina of Time (which came before the Wind Waker). Just a guess.
ah. ok. i knew i'd seen her. really, though, despite the similarities (and they are undeniable) i don't think that's the figure. in Nintendo Power's interview with Aonuma, he admitted the figure was the Skyward Sword and that the Skyward Sword becomes the Master Sword during the adventure. The Master Sword remains throughout Zelda history... how would Link speak to it in the Wind Waker (long after the Master Sword's creation)???

I wouldn't take the series timeline too seriously considering how loose it already is

In the concept art of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, released during E3 2009, Link was seen lacking any sort of sword, although he is accompanied by the human form of the Skyward Sword. Although the Skyward Sword is identical to the Master Sword, which it eventually becomes, its human-like form seen in the concept art bears some similarities to the Fairy Queen as she appears in The Wind Waker and Four Swords Adventures. However, no connection has been confirmed between the Fairy Queen and the Skyward Sword.
