A couple weeks ago I asked Gamestop how much trade-in credit I would get if I traded in my limited-edition Red Wii. They said $50. Well, I was outraged and almost yelled at the guy, bu I managed to control myself and leave. I've been trying to sell it on Craigslist with no luck.
Now I just got an email yesterday from Gamestop Powerup Rewards that says if I trade in my Wii sometime before March 6th, I'll get an EXTRA $50 TRADE-IN CREDIT!! This is awesome, but....I'm not sure what to do, and I need to decide fast.
Should I trade in my Wii and get $100, or take a chance, leave it on Craigslist, and maybe get it sold for $120 or $130? If I take that chance and nobody buys my Wii, then I'll have to trade it in at Gamestop for $50 and lose out completely.
Well, I'm throwing in my 4 rechargeable batteries and the recharger as well. Probably should have mentioned that, but the $100 offer is starting to look pretty tempting.
Do not trade in your Wii. Unless you already have another.
Why not? I won't go into the details, but keeping it is not an option. I have to sell it somehow. The only question is getting as much money out of it as possible.
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
Why did you bother getting it in the first place (the limited-edition red Wii was only released last winter)?
I didn't think I'd have to sell it when I got it. I thought I'd keep it forever and ever. :3 But now it has to go. I really don't want to sell it, but it needs to be done.
But back on topic. I'm starting to lean towards seizing the chance and trading it in.
It can't be in that bad condition since it was just released not too long ago, and you can sell the games separately except for Wii Sports and NSMBW I guess.
Sell it on Ebay. You'll get much closer to the new price, especially if you still have the box/manuals and can sell it like new. Gamestop makes all their money off trade ins, you can bet if they're giving you $100 for it, they're selling it for a lot more than that.
I am way too lazy to think of something clever. My Backloggery

No transport besides the bus, so I can't go to a postal office to send the thing away. I have very few choices here.

Then if you have no choices other than Gamestop, why are you even asking us?
Gamestop or Craigslist. That was my original question. I could get $100 for it at Gamestop now, or take a chance at getting more on Craigslist. If I fail to sell it on Craigslist however, I'm stuck with getting $50 for it.
Ah, so you're trying to sell it locally. I guess Craig's List could be the better option, I'm just wondering, do you want them to come to your house to pick it up then? I'm just not certain how...safe that would be. Then again, I'm paranoid.

Well, if anyone responded to my craigslist post, I wouldn't tell them where I live. I would have them meet me at my local college or anyplace along the route that my bus takes.

from the sound of your post and subsequent comments, you're making it seem as if you need actual money for something... you realize that $100 from GameStop isn't going to be cash, right?
