I cant sense difference with component cables on GC games, i've tried Sunshine and Fire Emblem with and without it... maybe its my tv
You may already know this but, if you launch a game and it asks you whether to enable Progressive Scan, that's your clue that the cables should improve the image. In my experience quite a few GameCube games support this feature, although it may not be listed on the box.
Even Animal Crossing supports it which is humorous, because the textures are of such low quality.
