Hey, everyone!
In response to the recent Talking Point article, I decided to lay out my ideas for the Wii U.
But before I continue, I'll say that the reason why I love the 'Pad is because of the countless ideas I think FOR it.
Without further ado, here are some of my ideas for the 'Pad.
1. MK8

  • Label the GamePad the 'SmartWheel', created by technologists of the Mushroom Kingdom, put in every kart. It has 3 major functions; Launch items by touching the screen, use it for camera BEYOND the TV borders and our usual map. Only the map feature will be used during GENERAL online play.
    2. Trauma Centre U
  • Use the GamePad as an X-ray and Ultrasound feature by laying it in front of the screen. It's also a handy assistant for normal surgery.
    3. Wii Aeroplane U (1)
  • Like PilotWings Resort, but with more missions.
  • Use the GamePad to use plane features, plus a communicator to your... boss, or something.
  • Online Multiplayer is a must!
  • As well as local multiplayer. You can hook up to a 3DS for more fun!
    4. Wii Aeroplane U (2)
  • You use the GamePad to control a real plane! Think of it as a small UAV. A receiver will be attached to the 'Pad, which will be used to control the plane! You can use the plane for a lot of features i.e. races, stunts, delivering messages to friends... And so much more!
Others include Star Fox U, F-Zero U, Super Mario Strategy, Super Mario Bros. 4.... AND SO MUCH MORE!

So? How do you like it?

God first.

that's already more thought put into the gamepad than anyone outside of Nintendo and Ubisoft have thought of!

How about another Spirit Camera/Fatal Frame or Pokemon Snap game? The GamePad functions as a camera with the stuff happening on the TV.

Or maybe, in a racing game, use the GamePad to make user tracks?

Or have the GamePad act as a handheld video game console. Make a game in the same vein of Nanashi No Game where the real world is in the TV and the video game is on the GamePad.

And, my last one for now, a detective game where the GamePad is your notebook. Take notes while investigating the crime scene and use them to determine who the killer is!

I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite

Why do people think just because its not called Super Mario Bros 4, its not part of the same series? That's as bad as people saying they want a Warcraft 4 when WoW is Warcraft 4.

@VolcanoFlames, @kyuubikid213 I like both of your guys' ideas.

  • Metal Gear Solid U
Have the equipment on the left side of the gamepad screen and the weapons on the right. So instead of having to hold L or R and select the item you could just tap it on the screen to equip it. Then have the map in the middle of the screen. If you get a call you would answer it on the gamepad screen and then you would hear the sound come out of the gamepad and see their face and the text on the screen. Meanwhile, Snake would still be on the tv and the game would still be playing. I always thought it was a little ridiculous how all the enemies would just wait 10 minutes while you talk on the codec. Also, when you go into first person view, you would see the first person perspective on the gamepad and still see the overhead perspective on the tv. And, of course, you could use the gryosensor to move the view around while in first person.
  • RTS + FPS
A game that is both a real time strategy game and also a first person shooter. You'd have one player with the gamepad using the stylus and playing the game in an overhead perspective like a rts game. Meanwhile you could have up to four players on the tv controller soldiers in a first person perspective. If the player with the gamepad selects your unit and then tells you to do something then the message would show up on the tv screen and give you an arrow to show you where to go.
  • Super Metroid U
A 2.5D Metroid game that plays like Super Metroid. The gamepad would display basically the same as the pause screen in Super Metroid. It would display either the map or the status screen. You could turn on or off any ability that you have acquired so far, including the ability to mix weapons in a certain way (like in Super Metroid). Also, bring back the special weapon uses (charge beam + one other beam then select power bombs).
  • Super Mario & Luigi
Basically a game like Super Mario 64, but with a big focus on co-operative play. You'd have one player on the tv and one player on the gamepad. They could each travel around the level without having to stay close to one another. Heck, they could even remake Super Mario 64 and add in this ability. I think it could be fun to work together to collect all the 8 red coins or to take down the bosses.

  • Pac-Man VS U
It's an hugely updated version of Pac-Man VS that includes a 5 player mode along with it's 2-4 player mode, over 20 mazes, Online mode, Mii icons, and a single player mode where you play the mazes like you're playing regular Pac-Man. The retail disc version would also include Pac-Man Museum on the same disc.
  • Warioware DIY 2 Showcase
A downloadable eShop game that would partner with a Warioware DIY 2 3DS the same was Warioware DIY was partnered with Warioware DIY Showcase. This time, there would be unlimited storage and you can trade microgames using QR codes. There would also be retail download codes for it sold in stores.
  • Scribblenauts Universe
It would be a traditional sequel to Scribblenauts Unlimited that add features like being able to make scan-able QR codes of your objects, being able to transfer your custom objects from Unlimited and Unmasked, the return of the level editor from the DS games, a Classic mode with a bunch of levels from the DS games along with a world like in Unlimited.

I want a HD version of MK Double Dash with the ability to recruit friends online or locally to be your tail gunner. Maybe even use the game pad as a rear view mirror for you can avoid shells.

DATING SIM
Have the GamePad use it's facial recognition tech to know when you're smiling and whatnot and have it be like a video chat with the options coming up on the GamePad screen and the girl on the TV. The GamePad could even act as a way to interact with the girl (or guy. sorry ladies) when playing a game or going on a date or something. Motion controls could come into effect when pushing her on a swingset or handing her a drink. The analog sticks would be used for different motions that could also be supplemented with the Wiimote and Nunchuk for full immersion. You could push the sticks together for a hug or do the hug with the Wiimote and Nunchuck! You could even take photos of yourself and have them "AutoShopped" into the scene to make it like you're actually with them to post on Miiverse and such!

I want a new Power Pros Baseball game. The two on the Wii rank as my favorite sport games . I would love to adjust lineups and attributes using the game pad . I would want full Mii integration and expanded controls . There is a rip off of Power Pros on Facebook that has a dating and life simulator built in.

So many ideas!

L.A. Noir U:
Something like this would be amazing on the Wii U - use the gamepad screen to manipulate objects that people hand to you, scribble notes in your notebook and sign documents
.. Or Phoenix wright for that matter? The same deal except you can also shout 'Objection' into the Gamepad mic!

Metroid U:

  • Aside from the obvious, maps/inventory/visors etc. I'd love to use the gyroscopic controls to roll Samus' morph ball mode around the landscape (like Super monkey ball, remember that game?)
  • Use the gamepad mic to call up inventory items by voice command
  • special doors that open in the game with a fake 'retina scan' (ie. hold you eye up to the gamepad camera) - just for effect

Luigi's Mansion U (or any 3d platformer)

  • Shows a 3rd person perspective on your TV but a first person perspective on the gamepad - could make for some interesting puzzles!
  • or alternatively, keep the same view but use the gamepad as a flashlight and look around 'off screen', like the Luigi's mansion mini-game in Wii Play Motion

Starfox Armada

  • think Wii U Panaroma View - a full 360 photorealistic on-rails world... with guns!
  • your teammates talking to you through the gamepad, and you can talk back with voice recognition and touch commands to give them tactical orders
  • a special mode with 100s of players playing the story mission online, making up an armada of ships attacking planets, on a Star Wars battlefront style map
  • Miiverse-integrated story missions.. with ghost ships and voice messages for players replaying old levels.. yes please.

Wii Music U

  • the gamepad is perfect for Piano/guitar/drum simulation - as well as voice with the built in mic
  • make and record music videos and upload them to Miiverse!

And not strictly game ideas, but...

  • Wii U Travel Pack
  • basically a slim add on unit that plugs onto the back of the gamepad - it contains a wifi receiver, a few GB of flash ROM and a battery pack - and would allow you to play Wii U games on the gamepad outside of the house, say on a long road trip - and it could dial back to the console in any wifi zone to update save data or switch games.
    Is that crazy?
  • Wii U/3DS Virtual console cloud restore points
  • this is surely the easiest solution to Wii U/3DS VC cross play? When you load/create a restore point on your Wii U or 3Ds you would have the option to save or restore from the cloud (a little lakitu cloud logo in the corner) - so if you own a copy of SMB3 or Legend of Zelda on both consoles you can pick up and play from where you left off

RTS GAME
Control your troops, supplies etc. all off of the gamepad and command everything. Maybe there can be an online multiplayer mode where you can make alliances and while other players are making their move, you can sit and type up negotiations with the other players. One of the biggest pains about RTS games on console has been the controls. It's always been much easier to use a computer mouse to do all the selecting instead of an analog stick. I feel like the gamepad would be a good fit for an RTS and it would streamline everything. Would it be wrong to say a Starfox RTS would be neat?

Archaeologist game
I'm an ancient history nerd, so maybe this would only appeal to me. They could make it interesting though. Like an Indian Jones thing. You could dig up fossils and relics on the gamepad (comparable to Spectrobes on DS) and then you can take notes and maybe you can't trust everyone on your crew and you have to decided who you can and can't trust. Then someone steals your notes and depending on how well your notes were written, they might get a lot of info out of them and get far ahead and you have to stop them. I see it in my head, but it's hard to explain. If they wanted to, they could do Spectrobes U.

I really like the idea for Trauma Centre U. That's a good one.
