I don't consider that the worst idea, considering how anyone who would care at this point probably also got Resort which came with the thing.
I only have two Wii Remotes with Wii Motion Plus (got one from resort and the other from the Zelda Bundle). My other two are just normal Wii Remotes so if it isn't required I can play 4 Player. If it is required who knows if I will ever upgrade the two other ones.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

I have a feeling that Wii Sports Club is an experiment for not only the idea of Nintendo making FTP games, but also of ideas for a proper Wii Sports U.

Well I just watched the Nintendo Direct and it sounds like you will have to use Motion Plus but it also sounds like Wii Sports Club is going to be a HUB for all their "Wii Sports" Titles so I expect in the future the Resort games may make it to Wii Sports Club and possibly even new games might make it as well.

Yeah I can see Wii Sports Resort-only sports being added over time.
I've seen a few complaints on the whole "Wii Sports: Club" announcement in the last few hours. So allow me perhaps to share my two cents, even if the response seems to be pretty positive on this thread Haha. I see personally Wii Sports: Club as only being a good thing. They're branching out with Miiverse, forming these exclusive/competitive little local clubs so to speak. Features that'll hopefully be appearing in future titles as well, potentially multiplayer orientated games such as MarioKart 8.
Imagine a world-wide Mariokart competition. Which initially gets hosted in each individual suburb, and as the "champions" come into existence and you filter out everyone else, you slowly see the competition spread to a more global front. Hosted entirely online and without any of the usual nonsense usually involved with such an extensive event. Of course, this could work perfectly well with Wii Sports: Club too
I'm really excited to get back into some tennis! Might pick up baseball, as well. I would probably pay just to get an HD remake of those, online is just a great plus to go with it~

My question is, will they implement some GamePad esque adjustments to the gameplay?
Back at E3 2011 when the Wii U was first revealed, I remember Nintendo showing Wii Sports featuring the GamePad.
I really liked some of the ideas they had there.
Hopefully WiiSports Boxing eventually causes another new PunchOut!!.

The people making a point about Motion+ requirement... I don't see what the big deal is. You can't buy non-Motion+ WiiMotes anymore anyways. Plus the vast majority of the Wii Sports titles across both it and Resort could be played with just one or two remotes.
Actually I think that Christmas '06 looking back I only had one WiiMote (and Composite cables with an old CRT!) for that first family play session with the Wii..... had a good six people involved in it gamers and non-gamers sharing one WiiMote....

"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"
I don't think Nintendo exactly took the best approach with this, but at least it's one step in the right direction (online wooooooo)
No way I'm paying for a game I got for free with the Wii, but maybe I'll buy it with my spare digital deluxe promotion points
spare digital deluxe promotion points... what is that?!
Well since I got a Wii U deluxe, I get 10% of the purchase back whenever I buy anything from the eShop. This is the digital deluxe promotion.
More info here: https://p.nintendo.net/deluxe/
The process is recurring too! If I buy a game for $59.99, I get 599 points back. That converts to $5.99, and if I buy something that's $5.99, I can get 59 points back, etc.
I have nearly 4000 points right now (which is about $40), so I have a nice backup if I ever want a game but don't have enough money!
I'm really excited for this. I'm not really a download version game type of person but this one is something I would love to have as a download with the whole hub type set up. with that I have a few thoughts.
I'm okay with the price it seems like a fair deal with the added benefit you can choose which games you want and which ones you don't.
I can see them continually adding sports to this all of the Wii Sports and Resort games and a plethora of new games as well.
However once more than 5 or 6 games come out I can see why price would be an issue with the example if you want ten sports it would
run you 100$ but knowing Nintendo I'm sure they will start selling the games in bundles to reduce cost once there are enough games or even offer a sort of season pass to get all new sports that will be released or even give you a reduced price on other sports depending on how many you have already paid for.
Also once a good number of sports have been released for the Sports Club, I can see Nintendo looking at the most purchased and most played sports and making a physical copy (or digital copy in a Wii U bundle) as a starter kit so to speak of those most popular games and giving people the option to buy more sports if they want as DLC.
Plus unlike the other two major consoles having not to pay a constant price for online play on it's own makes this a good deal.
Also with the simplistic play style of these games it will give Nintendo a chance to continue to improve their online capabilities for more demanding online games in the future.
I just hope that Nintendo continues to make the Sports Club better and better by adding new sports every few months or more often if they can do it.
