yeah but as someone else pointed out it could have easily been done with a pause screen, especially since the game pauses anyway.

put it on.

That is the beauty of the WiiU though, atleast you get a red hot choice... The stale station and xbog have other controllers but they never use them properly if not at all

yeah thats true i do like the gamepad, but its main use for me has been off tv play. ninty just needs to get off there bums and deliver on offering us experiences we cant get elsewhere.

put it on.

I also think we'll see more from the gamepad, but what we've been getting so far is nothing to turn our noses up at. Off-TV play is ridiculously handy and awesome; gamepad integration in party games like Nintendoland is fantastic and ground-breaking (when it comes to digital gaming), and even time-saving elements like serving as a map and inventory screen are beyond convenient and very nice to have.

It isn't too great for games that require quick thinking and fast reflexes, but it's amazing for:

1 Multiplayer like Madden or VS modes in FPS' where you never want your opponent to know your strategy. My friend and I have had a billion Madden matches throughout our lives and this is HUGE for us (yes, i know, no Madden and lots of FPS' suck, but it doesn't change the fact)

2 Menu based RPG games like the old FF's. Im not sure if it's been done yet, but things like putting your 10 favorite moves / summons at the touch of a button is awesome, compared to scrolling through menus. Ive heard Tekken kinda did this but to be honest, I'd rather use button combinations in a game like that.

But these 2 (3 kinda) instances seem really cool for the gamepad and im sure there are more I havent thought of

yet people are still content on playing on their 4th dual shock. where's the next gen magic in that?

maybe on having a powerful PC without a mouse, keyboard or the ability to change the OS? I don't know... PS4 looks cool but when you look at how innovative it is, it isn't innovative, just powerful, really powerful........

'Innovation' can also be found within the many elements that define software, not only in new input methods. It's all about preference: for instance some people never cared for motion controls just like others can't see what's special about visual advancements. It doesn't change a thing and comparing them is meaningless; just because a certain type of innovation doesn't resonate with you it doesn't make it less legitimate. More power equates to more resources for developers to innovate.

man(or girl as it's not stated on your profile), you have to admit that a hardware+casing(frame, finish and any other fancy visual/comfort detail) that looks and feels different is really cool and gives that "I'm not the same as before" vibe! but don't take it seriously I'm just having fun here playing the Over-Nintendo FanBoy. when you reach the conclusion that it's all suposed to be about fun(for us consumers, that is) you'll stop caring and play along too!

Madden sucks but that's becuase there's no other football game. while I like the idea it only really works with two gamepads.

not sure what boxes have to do with discussing innovation in games..but I don't disagree about the fun thing.

I was talking about the "carcass" of the videogames AND controllers

I think the gamepad is a gimmick, I hate using the thing. I wont be using it in the near future

The Gamepad is a gimmick. Which just means it is a unique feature and a selling point. Gimmick does not mean something is bad in any way.

I love how people use the word "gimmick" like it's supposed to mean something bad. Most electronics have "gimmicks" and those are what sell electronics.

The internet gave it a bad connotation and it's been game over for that word since then lol

so only "cheap gimmicks" are bad and Rayman Legends uses the so blamed "gimmicks" and turns them into the ultimate version of the game...... I'm fine with whatever I just know I'll get a WiiU as soon as I can

Phatosaurus

After playing TW101, I'm fully behind the gamepad's touchscreen.

I don't use it during combat that often, but for the trickier Unite Morphs, it's indispensable. I almost always used it for the QTEs, it made the experience on the whole more enjoyable.
If Metal Gear Rising had touchscreen controls for the Zandatsu sword strokes, it would have been a better game in my opinion.

I pretty much agree with the people that say that the Gamepad is cool and at least the Wii U is bringing something interesting to the table.... I also agree with the person who said that the PS4 isn't exactly innovative but just full of massive power. I don't think many PS4 buyers will care for the PS4 camera. I'm not hating on the PS4 when I say that. The PS4 and Vita is bringing Remote Play though.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!
