Topic: Summer Update Confusion

I just recently read some people on another site talking about the Summer Update for Wii U actually decreasing the load times IN the games.

Do we know if there's any truth to this, or is it just speculation taken as fact?

Loading times in games arent related to that anyway. So all just ignorant rambling

Not sure if Nintendo can do that. Loading times is more or less game software related so it's up to individual game developers to update the game to improve loading times not Nintendo.

That's what I had thought, but the people seemed sure of themselves, so I just wanted to hear what you guys know.

Based on the length of time it took Nintendo to more or less able to produce an update to fix one of the biggest problem on the Wii U (about 6 months) I don't count on the summer update that much. I think this summer update will be more or less adding additional features on some apps. I'm suprised that Nintendo forgot to add a wireless Bluetooth headset sync feature on the April update hence it's one of the very obvious problem on the Wii U. We might see this feature on the summer update. This summer update might also mainly be cosmetic update.

Iwata has only confirmed that there will be a summer update but not about the specific features. Game companies have managed to release updates that improve game performance (like the recent 3DS update and a PSP update made by Sony) but I personally think the summer update will focus more on features and system stability. Here are some of the things that I have heard being speculated for this update:

-Combining 3DS and Wii U eShop so that players can get a discount on certain digital titles if they have its other counter part.
-Tying Wii U digital downloads to the Nintendo Network account as opposed to the system (NOA has already confirmed they are working on this)
-Adding universal chatting features and making video chat a multitasking app (NOA has confirmed interest in this idea)
-Adding gifting options to the eShop.
-Adding more external hardware support

At this point we can only speculate what the summer update will bring but I think that Iwata highlighting the update meant that the update is going to be significant to the Wii U user experience.

I hope they add 1)Have it alert you when you get a message on Miiverse on the home button and 2) Have some form of alert like the home button lighting up on the top screen so I don't miss it

I heard that the summer update will decrease the loading times even further...somewhat.

Still surprised that there are loading times that are so long on Wii U at all. Wasn't the disc reading speed supposed to be really fast this time?

Hopefully Nintendo will talk about the Summer Update at E3. Speaking of E3, can't believe it's less then two weeks away already.
