Topic: So it looks like WiiU has had it's fill of Mario - How do you feel?

Oh and as for the thread - it doesn't look like there are no more Mario titles to me. Why assume that? There are still games coming out this year that we don't know of and I actually expect one to be a Mario collection.

everyone needs to relax and enjoy the games that are released today and stop worrying what Nintendo will do in a year or two from now.

Honestly wouldn't be surprise to see a mario collection of sunshine, 64 and maybe some other games bundled on the wii u but i honestly think no more large scale mario games are coming to the Wii U

Playing: Wargroove on Switch and Fire Emblem on GBA

There's definitely been enough Mario but I'm not sure what we know now is the last we'll see of him on the Wii U. Nintendo could potentially squeeze in another game between now and late-2016 (assuming the NX even launches then). I wouldn't particularly care one way or another but it sucks for those who were hoping to see Paper Mario or a 3D Mario adventure.

Nintendo can't fight on the marketing field since the N64 and can't fight on the hardware field since the Wii. They don't have the wallet for that. The NX will probably have the same hardware as the WiiU but with a new idea. Nintendo couldn't afford a top notch powerful hardware.

I don't think you have any idea of the size of the money mountain Nintendo is sitting on.

I don't think you do. Nintendo is way smaller than people think. When Nintendo fund an AAA game like Bayonetta 2, Sony and Microsoft can fund 10 games like that without a sneeze

Last year, Nintendo's net worth was 700 million more than Sony. Microsoft, of course, eclipses them both combined a dozen times over and then some but the Xbox brand is only one division so it doesn't necessarily get an unlimited all-access pass to that ocean of money.

Keep in mind also that Nintendo's the only one of these companies that is all about gaming while the other two are multimedia giants that have other divisions they need to budget for. So yes, Nintendo really could afford to cut more exclusivity deals, invest in more powerful hardware (they were doing that up until the Wii), buy the resources to pump out more AAA titles, etc... they just choose to follow a more conservative strategy.

Nintendo's not all about gaming. More like 1% gaming, 99% amiibo

Net worth does not show at all the capacity of your wallet. Liabilities do. Did you know Nintendo lost half of their liabilities with the launch of the WiiU. And the WiiU isn't particularly top notch hardware and its launch library wasn't particularly brillant. People see Nintendo much much bigger than they really are.

Super Mario Maker may end up making this the ultimate Mario console. I am hyped for that but I still want my Galaxy 3 type of Mario game though.

I feel bad for not reading this whole thread, but OH MY GOD! @Skywake and @Haru17 are actually getting along! This really IS THE END of Nintendo!

But in all serious, I still think we'll get one or two more Mario titles, one being a 3D adventure title (though I wouldn't mind this being pushed to a launch title for the NX, if it is, indeed, a new home console) and another sports spin-off, probably Golf as that just seems natural for the Wii U. (I wanna put my gamepad on the floor and swing my Wiimote like a golf club at the golf ball on the gamepad screen, while standing on my balance board to make the most realistic virtual golfing experience gaming can currently emulate, thus far.)

Other than that, Mario's done and you know what? I feel alright about it. Mario dominated the first two years of the U's life span. We'll live without it.

On a side note, imagine the NX is a new console and launches with not just a 3D Mario adventure, but Prime 4 coming within a year of launch, Mario Maker ported or supported by the new system, as well as the brand new Zelda which won't need to be ported as there'd be little to no benefit to doing so (that we're currently aware of). Then add in the promise of more Zelda, Animal Crossing, a potential F-Zero, and more down the line, provided the system does well enough to survive that long, and you have very little left to whine about. Also, be ready. Mother 3 is coming and everyone knows it.
