nothing on it yet, just hope it is done right this time, that is, has no lag.

@GuSilverFlame i never played online before the upcoming smash (played PC during all of Wii basically, i have a lot of catching up to do.. lol) so i don't know how that worked. How did it work? Any type of leaderboard/ranking system and could i just search for a random other player and do a 1v1 without having to have them on my friend's list and all that?

No lag is basically going to be impossible. Hopefully there is such little lag that it doesn't affect gameplay too much
well I personally only count as "lag" when it's visible and significant
@BenjaminAran I never played much but it was like this, you could have random matches or play with friends yeah that's about it but if it wasn't for the lag(and that freaking tripping system) it'd have been awesome

It NEEDS to be good.
A legit online experience is what will be the determining factor of it this is a great game or one of the best this gen and something I play constantly. Hopefully Sakurai and Nintendo go all out this time.
Four more months until Bayonetta 2.

This is the only part of the game that scares me. Nintendo seems so incompetent to build a proper online infrastructure that it makes me think it will suck. But hopefully they will nail it.

I'm more than confident that Nintendo won't botch up Smash Bros online mode. They know better, I'm sure it'll be fine, and will probably provide so many hours of combat that people will forget the whole online FPS stuff for awhile, haha
Seriously...all the recent games I had with online worked pretty well...Mario Tennis Open lagged pretty bad towards the beginning for a few seconds, but that was pretty much it. Never noticed much problems with others like MK7 or Uprising. Only problem Uprising had was that volcano stage that lagged horribly, even when offline. (or however you wanna say it...where you're just playing with CPUs, lol)
Brawl was the only game I could remember where its online was just horrid, I barely could even start a match...and when I did...I could hardly play well. I'm pretty sure it was just because of NWFC (Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection) that the Wii and DS used, had some problems. But now the Wii U and 3DS use the Nintendo Network that seems to be working A LOT better.

Keep it PG-13-ish.
I think that people should be able to host lobbies with their own game types, and people who it appeal to can join. It would basically just be like setting up an offline game.
Then of course there could just be a "quick" game mode or something like that were it would just randomly gather four online opponents and stick them into a versus match with the default setting (2 minute time limit, although I've always liked stock better)

Uhhh... name one recent Nintendo online game that has had incompetent online? Meanwhile, any 3DS or Wii U game I've seen with online gameplay has worked just fine.
Games I play are always laggy, but that's mainly because of internet speeds. Even Mario Kart was laggy. I would throw a green shell, and it would literally go through whoever I was throwing it at, then I get hit by a green shell, and I'm like, "Screw this".

I don't think tennis(wii sports) worked that great, which I really would have bought if it did.
