There absolutely needs to be more motion-controlled games. The current selection is just pathetic. There's Wii Sports Club, a complete joke of a rehash/cash-in, Just Dance games, available on all current home consoles, and Wii Fit U, which is pretty much a Balance Board game, and even that isn't as good as Wii Fit Plus 5 years ago.
Wii had games like Metroid Prime 3, Excite Truck, Trauma Center, Kororinpa, Helix and loads of others, even Twilight Princess came with motion controls. Now on the Wii U, there's a massive lack of games like that, and it's really making the game selection more boring and less diverse.
FWIW, I played the Mario Kart 8 demo today with nun-chuck and motion control. Motion controls was only used in selection menus as far as I could discover, but using the nunchuck was just about equivalent to controlling MK8 with the GamePad.

So no shake tricks? Crap, why is Nintendo pulling crap like this. The Shake tricks were awesome in MK Wii
Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F

Didn't try that, actually. Stupid of me to not test that, but I never played MKWii with a nunchuck, so I didn't know what to expect. Will test that the next time I play it.
I loved racing with my Wii Wheel in Mario Kart Wii
I loved Skyward sword's motion controls.
I also liked the immersiveness of some of the things Metroid Prime 3 did on the Wii.
I still don't think Wii U needs a mandate to move towards or away from motion control. One of the great things about Wii U is the variety of control options available and how Wii accessories are backwards compatible. You can still do motion and now traditional controls are also supported more than they were on the Wii.
Of course WarioWare worked well with motion controls. It's a series which for the most part, exists to showcase console gimmicks and mechanics in the form of three second microgames.
