Topic: Preordering Arkham O from Amazon reminds me why I haven't done so before.

First off let me just say I REALLY want Arkham Origins. I loved Arkham City on the Wii U, and it made me fall in love with console gaming all over again. I want a similar experience again.

Now, about 3 weeks ago, I saw that Amazon UK were selling Arkham Origins for £32.99, which included the Deathstroke DLC. This seemed a good buy to me, as I doubted that many other shops would reduce it as much, so I bought it. I don't usually care for pre order DLC, you pre-order from one shop and another shop drops the price. But the Amazon price and free gift sold it for me. Normally I would just buy a copy from Smyths or HMV (or unpleasantly if there are no other options GAME, with there over full price tenner more than GAME online pricing structure)- if there is little or no price difference I would prefer to support the high street. But I'm no mug, £44.99 to £32.99 is twelve quid!

Then we got news that the Wii U version in the US would be $10 cheaper, and we all hoped a similar discount would be made to the UK. Oddly enough Amazon put the Xbox/PS3 price down to £30, and the Wii U price up to £37.99. What's the need to put the Wii U price up? (sounds a bit cynical to me). Now I assume I'll end up being charged £32.99 (unless it is reduced below this price). I have a confirmation e-mail stating the price, and if I'm charged more I'll get to send Amazon a nasty e-mail. But in all I'm reminded why I don't like this whole nature of preordering. The launch DLC is unlikely to be that worth it (is it ever?), and even though I'm still likely to pay the cheapest price around for the Wii U version, I still somehow feel cheated. It's weird, but even though I'm likely to get a good deal, I'm angry at Amazon for having business practises where prices go up, even after news stories suggest the price should go down.

Unless there is an eleventh hour price reduction again?

Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?

Amazon has a lowest price guarantee. If the price drops from now until release day, you'll get that reduced price. If the price goes up, you still get the lower price.

This. I order almost all my PS3, 3DS and Wii U games from Amazon, i can't count how many times i've saved money due to pre-ordering when a game was incorrectly offered at a low price.

I don't know about Amazon UK but here in NA with Amazon you pay the price that you are quoted when you put in your preorder even if the price goes up. If the price goes down though by release date than you pay the lower price. I have had that happen to me several times. Its one reason that I like Amazon so much.
