I think one of the biggest problems Ninty has with 3rd parties on Wii U is that there simply isn't awareness 3rd party games are even available on the platform. Advertisements for AC:BF or CoD:Ghosts or Watch Dogs all focused almost exclusively on Sony and Microsoft platforms, so unless you did your own research, you wouldn't have even known those games are on Wii U.
So if someone does not know the Wii U has 3rd party games, it will factor against their decision whether or not to buy the platform. This feeds into the cycle of poor sales on Nintendo systems.
I think Nintendo needs to start trying to break the cycle. This year two big 3rd party games coming to the system are Guitar Hero Live and Project Cars, and neither of these games has a mature rating, so they have accessibility. If Nintendo shells out some cash to spread the message that these games are on Wii U, it could really help them out in the long run.
EDIT: While direct advertising may work, I'm more referring to indirect advertising within Wii U advertisements, Nintendo Directs, and E3 presentations.
It still wouldn't help, people would always choose over versions of third party games that have everything in the same package. And why would the big N would waste money on two games that might sell like garbage?Cause project cars is coming later after the Xbox One and PS4 versions.Guitar Hero? Who knows.

You're assuming that everyone has all consoles. Think, if you want to buy an 8th gen system, and a major game you want to play is Guitar Hero, wouldn't you be less likely to buy a Wii U if you didn't know it had Guitar Hero?

No! Consumers aren't stupid there not going to buy a system for one game,a game that will released on better consoles that have more games they might want in the future.Come on,who in there right mind would buy a Wiiu over a PS4? Especially for a third party game that isn't even an exclusive? Man you have no idea what you're talking about.
why would they wanna advertise instant noodle soup like assassin's creed or call of duty when they have so many better games?
yet another thread where someone thinks nintendo need this support from the simpleton casual kids out there. i don't understand why you think they need it. nintendo are not going out of business.

You need to read my post again. I didn't say you are buying a system for Guitar Hero. I said its a major game you are interested in. You may have a range of interests that include some Nintendo games as well, but if the system lacks guitar hero (or you think it does), it's a major negative. Same thing with Sports games. They may not be only reason you are buying a new system, but the Wii U lacking them certainly makes it less valuable.
It's not black and white like you make it out to be.
