Stuff like Street Fighter, Resident Evil, and Devil May Cry? They probably wouldn't be as interested in those, and if Nintendo were to ever own Capcom, they'd probably be put on the back burner like F-Zero, Star Fox, and Metroid.

no

Why no?

Because Resident Evil 6 sold over 5 million and Metroid Prime sold 2 million.

It pains me to say that btw.

Well I don't think they have the resources to work on a dozen or so IPs at once, they have to prioritize in some way. And if they had to choose a select number of IPs to focus on, those would probably be the ones they want the most. Mega Man is an iconic series that is right in Nintendo's wheelhouse and would appeal to Nintendo's target demographic. And Monster Hunter and Phoenix Wright are historically popular IPs on Nintendo's platforms, so I imagine they want to keep those. Also, mature games like Resident Evil don't really sell as well on Nintendo platforms, so it might not sell all that well.

Bayonetta 2.

I don't entirely disagree with your logic but no one is gonna be like "let's NOT have a major Resident Evil on our gaming platform"

Non-binary, demiguy, making LPs, still alive

Oh no, I don't think they'll never have those games. It's just that they won't be a priority compared to dozen or so other IPs Nintendo has that would sell better.

Capcom would be an expensive purchase, Nintendo will likely buy a few IPS rather than the whole company itself

I am doing a free give away for my website. See inside for details :P

They could always do things like outsource 2D Mega Man games to inticreates (the Mega Man Zero series and Mega Man 9 and 10 guys) since apparently Capcom can't be bothered to even do that.

IDK much about business, but if they can find a dev team to work on those IPs, this seems like the smart move. They can just take what they want and not waste their money on games that they probably won't be able to give proper attention to anyway.

I don't know why people are convinced that Metroid is a dead IP. We got 6 brand new Metroid games from 2002-2010, 9 if you include Zero Mission, Pinball, and Prime Trilogy. I think this spoiled people. Before 2002, there were 3 Metroid games total. It skipped the N64 entirely and there was an 8 year gap between Super Metroid and Metroid Prime, so start making a fuss in 2018 when Nintendo releases their Wii U successor.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

I didn't say it was a dead IP, but clearly Metroid doesn't have the same priority that IPs like Mario, Donkey Kong, Kirby, and Smash Bros have. Which is why they haven't shown one off yet (although I do think it'll be coming soon). My point was simply that some franchises get more attention than others, and it would be unwise if Nintendo acquired Capcom only for the majority of its IPs to be neglected. Nintendo has enough problems with this right now.

Are we talking about a theoretical buyout of Capcom with Nintendo not receiving Capcom's studios, offices, and employees?

Personally, I don't see any gaming company buying Capcom. Sony doesn't have the money, Sega doesn't have a reason to buy Capcom, Nintendo just wouldn't do it, because Nintendo, and Microsoft, well let's just hope they won't buy Capcom. In the best case scenario Nintendo buys Capcom, and turns it into a ''Retro Studios 2'', another company that develops exclusively for Nintendo.

Microsoft can't buy Capcom, there are Japanese Laws that prevent a non-Japanaese company from buying a Japanese one.

No there isn't.

There are laws preventing a non-Japanese company from merging with a Japanese company, but for actual buyouts, there is no such law.
