People just suck. If I were were a developer or ran a company and "fans" constantly complain about "everything" I do, I would have no problem telling them off.

Props to him. More devs need to tell it like it is. It's funny how it's okay for "fans" to complain, but when the ones making the games and trying to "please" snap back, oh no, hell breaks lose.

i'm an artist. there is no way any artistic endeavour is going to please everyone. today's audiences have a more instant, mind-free (and i use that phrase literally) way of communicating their tastes, both good and bad.

Being an artist myself, I personally don't care if my art appeals to everyone- only care for those who do.. Though, I just like sharing my work as well as seeing another's persons artwork and inspiring each other.

Maybe he shouldn't have reacted in a business perspective, but the fans are the one who made it personal. Not him.

having made a living as an artist for quite a few years, i have cared if my art appealed to quite a lot of people. if mermaids are selling, you do mermaids. if people are not paying for portraits of their kids, you do their pets, keeping your own artistic take on them, of course. inspiration is very important; so is paying the bills.

look: i'm not defending the whingers amongst the community, but someone has to set the standard for behaviour in a situation such as this, be the adult so to speak. it certainly will not be the extraordinarily vocal minority that tosses their handhelds to the floor on the way to the computer to post a rant.

I so agree with this. I, personally, don't see a problem with him venting his anger. Doesn't make me think any less of him, and it never will.

I mean take alook at someone like Dan Dido of DC comics. Since the nee 52 has been announced at every major con, public apperance, and on twitter he got a lot of whining about where certian people are. Instead of going insane dido just plays it off with there are things in tbe works and by god Wally West doesnt exist anymore. Ive even tweeted him asking about the old batgirls. Low and behold last week it was announced Stephanie brown one of my fav charcters is going be brought back as nightwing in the smallville comic series, written by the writer that made me love her.

And i can see why people would be attached to old voice actors kevin conory and mark hamil are the batman and joker to me. And while I love the dcnu I know a ton of people who want the old dcu back and complim about it and the direct books are going.

There's nothing worse than watching a scenario like this unfold online. Did you ever see Scott Adam's antics raging against his own fanbase? It got pretty pathetic at the end.

You can always buy the games for someone who does enjoy'em. Like a present.

If you don't have a sizable amount of people that are such avid fans they always want something more, you're not successful enough.

Some of you need to read Catch 22. Perhaps you can pull yourself away from defending everyone of criticism through all eight circles of hell and back long enough to learn something.

I think most people realize that obsessive fanboys are inevitable but they should still be ruthlessly made fun of as much as possible.

Granted, this post is so needlessly vague that I honestly have no idea if I am even replying to anything you actually meant.

The public is fickle. People are used to getting exactly what they want, so if something isn't right even in the slightest to them, they throw a fit. Seriously, it saddens me how ungrateful folks can get. I mean, it's terrible for these gaming companies to go through all the work, time, and money to make all the games for our own enjoyment, only to get spat in the face on numerous occasions. Sure not everybody has the same likes/dislikes, but that doesn't mean you have to dogmatically attack the things you don't particularity care for. We, gamers as a whole, need to cut the poor companies some slack.

The thing is, I don't mind criticism but some people are just infuriating wastes of space who need to go outside instead of whining about the most worthless nonsense. The fact that I feel bad for these rich companies at times says a lot about how bad it can get. I mean, I hate Capcom's practices in recent months/year but some of the fans, OH GOD.

This. Sometimes a new game rolls out, and they make great changes that impact the game but are ignored because, they took out ____ character, or there's not enough characters. A lot of us are looking in the wrong areas to what a good game should be or have. For most people on here it's just ONE thing and they dismiss the whole thing. WHUT THEY TOOK OUT THE SOUND TEST? Fail! Series is ruined, Namco Bandai why is it that everything you touch dies? (lists games tat have a sound test). Namco you used to be cool. Cooly cooly cool.

This is a business as anything else. I always find it humorous how nobody adamantly defends car companies, movie directors, etc. This is the same as any other company, their goal is to acquire as much money as efficiently as possible.

If anyone thinks a company actually cares about their personal enjoyment, they are delusional. Companies care about a large consumer base because that equates to more money, they don't individually care about any one of you.
