Was just wondering, I am collecting the entire Wii U retail library... almost there...as such I have several games I've never played.... occasionally I'll put a new one in and an update will download... So when the online services for the console are no longer offered, will the games that have updates still get the updates when put in for the first time? The vast majority of my collection is sealed or never played but if I'd be missing out on patches and stuff I'd just open them or stick 'em in once now... Don't really care about the value, but no sense in opening a game I may not play for years if I don't have to... Thanks in advance for any insight on this issue...
This is a sad problem for physical collectors. So many games are released incomplete. There should be a place where these updates are archived for future access.
That's a good question and one I've never thought about. The Wii and DS online ended but you can still access the shop.At least on Wii you can,not sure about DSi?Did any Wii or DS games receive any patches?
I think as long as the Eshop is available on Wii U,patches can still be downloaded.I don't think Wii U's online modes will be turned off for at least another year or 2 and the shop will likely be available for much longer.
@OorWullie I do know The Conduit received patches or at least "claimed" it did. Of course those did not fix the problems with the online that The Conduit had.

The Wii and DS online wouldn't have affected updates or the shops. That just stopped online play.
