Now that the 3DS has NNIDs, do you think it would be a good idea for Nintendo to make a bundle that comes both a Wii U and a 3DS XL? I don't mean do it right now, but do it Holiday 2014 at the earliest. It would probably be even cheaper than the PS4 + PS Vita that the UK actually has.

Unless the incorporate cross play with the 3DS and Wii U or remote play like the Vita and PS4 (But why would they when they have the game pad) I dont see the point in having a Wii U and 3DS bundle.

I came in here to say this.
They'd probably be better off just making a bunch of Wii U bundles and hoping something sticks.

Four more months until Bayonetta 2.

The Wii U game bundles are seemingly more cost effective and productive.

I'd probably stick with those

I agree with everyone else. Unless cross play or a piece of software that requires (or benefits immensely from) both, I don't think there's a good reason to bundle the two together at the moment. The NNID/Miiverse update doesn't seem to be a compelling enough reason.

Once the Wii U and 3DS are more exchangeable, then probably yes. As of now, game sharing/cross-play and partner games/apps don't really exist, so it wouldn't make sense right now.

Say, they let you share VC, some smaller titles with data(cloud included), and maybe let a game like SSB. be interactive between both systems, then it would make sense.

I don't think streaming is completely necessary, but I could see it working if Nintendo tried to do that. That's not to say they will, though.

Nintendo's in a situation, where the 3DS is thriving a little too much. The timing is incorrect right now. SSB's release is a good time for Nintendo to ever uncover a bundle like that.

They could do it with Smash Bros but even then we don't know how important the connectivity between those two games is. Probably not enough to warrant a bundle. They could have also done it with Monster Hunter but again probably not enough.

I think once/if they start synchronising VC saves and purchases across the two then maybe then with a game like Smash or Monster Hunter. Before that? Well I don't think they really talk to each other enough out of those games to warrant it. You could in theory get a 3DS and a PS4/XBOne or a Wii U and Vita and not be missing out on much in terms of cross-play.

Wait, too much thriving is a bad thing?

The reason the PS4 is bundling the Vita is because of its ability to cross play much like the Wii U's Gamepad. Although the Vita is limited with what it can do being as there is only one set of bumpers and no triggers I can't see many of the games able to cross play with the Vita unless the triggers were mapped to the touchpad on its backside. Unless Nintendo can somehow allow the 3DS to cross play with the Wii U there is no point in bundling the two systems together. It make much better sense to sell them apart from one another.

Now as I have posted in a different post, I would however like to see Nintendo develop an add on to the Gamepad that would play GBA/DS/3DS essentially turning the gamepad and TV screen into a big DS. Of course 3d wouldn't work unless you had a 3d tv. I could see this working and expanding the game library of the Wii U. The Gamecube had its Gameboy player, its time the Wii U has its. One can only wish.

Maybe a Super Smash Bros. bundle with a Wii U, a 3DS, and pre-installed copies of the game would be cool.

At the moment only a Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate bundle would make any sense.

If Nintendo did what I thought they were going to do, that being make a 3DS with a CPP usuable as a 2nd Wii U controller then it'd be more likely to sell.

It only makes sense to bundle the 3DS with the Virtual Boy. I think the world is finally ready.

Interesting- I have both. But I bought a Wii U in april and then a 3ds. One compelled me to buy the other. As mentioned, there would have to be some sort of integration- that or maybe sell zelda's/mario collector editions. I've kinda seen them as related systems in a sense. The time to do it would be now with XBoner being $500.....

No.

I think it would be fine if it had a cross-play like the PS4/PS3 and Vita, but as it doesn't at the moment, it'd be an unnecessarily expensive bundle.

I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite

I got a 3DS the same week I got my Wii U. In paid £199 for Wii U mario bundle and £125 for 3DS XL.
If they did a bundle of Wii U + 3DS XL & Monster Hunter I would have threw my wallet at the shop stocking it.

I don't see the harm in Nintendo Trialing it. If it would sell is another matter as the price would need to be the £300+ area which is alot of money to invest. For someone like me who loves gaming it isn't a problem as I know its a good investment, but for say a parent buying it their child i guess it would be a little too much.
