Topic: Bayonetta 2 (+ Bayonetta 1) - OT

@jump It's amazing what exposure can do for a great concept/character.

So aside from waiting this long to get into Bayo1, what did I do wrong?

Lost some progress last night. I was fighting a dragon on a flying church, as you do, and died. I decided it was bedtime, so when it asked if I wanted to continue, I said 'no'.

It took me back to a menu and I saved, but I was concerned about it not saving at the start of the dragon fight, so I loaded the save file to check...

Not only was it miles before the dragon, it was actually before the point that my previous save file was at! Mega-Doh!

So how do you save progress in between chapters?

The manual should hopefully tell me, but I thought I'd raise it here anyway, cos these games deserve a bump cos they're caf.

Pretty sure it's in the menu or something in between chapters...haven't played the games in a while so I can't remember for sure. I thought it told you somewhere, though...or does it auto-save?...>.>

@Tsurii Yeh, but how does it work in the middle of a chapter?

Yeah, I don't think you can save during a chapter...

@Tsurii @Joeynator3000 But when I turned my Wii U on last night and loaded Bayonetta, just selecting 'Continue' took me to a checkpoint beyond where this new save file is, so there's obviously some way of quitting the game mid-chapter and resuming at a checkpoint.

It's probably as simple as quitting to the main menu mid-game, rather than when you've just died.

No idea then, I always saved between chapters.

My cousin hates Bayonetta for "stealing Mega Man X's fighter slot in SM4SH via the fighter ballot!", so when he was over DAT one time and wanted to play some Mario Kart, I forced him to play the route 666 level in Bayonetta 1, a.k.a. DAT part where she was on DAT motorcycle.

...Was still technically "Mario Kart" since I made Bayo wear Peach's outfit.

@gcunit Yeah what @subpopz says, sometimes I'd choose load instead of continue and it severely punishes you for it (or at least feels pretty shan). Oh and I would assume Bayo 2 load/continue is the same as Bayo 1.
I personally just started to play all the way to end of a chapter before putting it down, if I could that is.
I'm still yet to pick up Bayo 2 it was an effort to finish the first so I'm waiting before I take on another hardcore title.

1 question, does the non stop climax edition comes with English menu and subtitles ?

Quick question is it worth picking it up? And how many New Games + do you need to 100% it?

So it turns out I'm into the game now. As an experienced DMC series player, Bayonetta 2 (haven't played the 1st one), doesn't deliver the same. In fact, it seems to be too far behind. Although it's an incredible hack & slash, it still doesn't give me that same gut feeling when I'm playing it as the DMC series did, especially the DMC 3. For example, slashing and killing with Bayonetta doesn't make me feel that excited as when I played as Virgil with Yamato katana. For once, that game needed to be more gory. It needed more blood and way much more satisfying finishing moves. Secondly, it seems quite difficult to earn Platinum awards HOWEVER if you make use of the yellow candy you can Platinum the whole game in ANY difficult level. Regarding the graphics, I admit they're awesome and definitely on par with the DMC graphical style if not better since Bayonetta 2 runs at a smooth 60 fps. I'm still very early in the game though, but I felt the need to take this out. Still, it's a solid title for the Wii U. As for me, I will Platinum the whole game in Climax 1 as there's not a special reward for Climax 2 and above and you can buy all the characters from the secret doors.

Still spamming around, I almost Platinum the whole game in Climax 1, and have unlocked everything from the Gates of Hell shop by farming Halos in Chapter 14. I don't know what else to do at this point in the game. Probably after I Platinum Climax 1, will Platinum Climax 2 as well to acquire the Master Sword and earn the remaining Bewitchments except the True Witch Bewitchment.

@TheCurator Wow that's impressive I can only get a few platiunums on my play through. Mainly golds and silver's and that's on normal! Need more practice. Got any techniques to help me better my performance? I'm on switch version

@Benjoo Yes, spam Yellow and Red Candy and try to finish every battle with Umbran Climax. You don't get penalized for using items unlike the DMC series. After you're done with the game, go to Chapter 14 and farm Halos with Jeanne. Every time you complete the chapter, it will take you about 5-6 minutes, and you should collect from 1 to 3 million Halos depending on your performance. You can also finish the chapter in 3-4 minutes with Rosa but the amount of Halos decrease to 1 million per run. There's not much else to tell you about. A good weapon combo is Salamandra and Alruna!

@TheCurator thanks for the advice. Just jumped straight into this game after finishing bayonetta 1. It's a much better game. I will try to get those weapons then. Thanks for your reply.

UPDATE: Just Platinum d Climax 1. Will do also Climax 2, attempt Witch Trials, defeat secret boss and I’m done with it. Not interested in any Verse mode.

Hey everyone, should I get this game for Wii U or Switch?

@SuperLuigi111 What are you more likely to beat it on? At this point if you want the portability then go with the switch version, but if price plays a factor you might be able to get the wii u version cheaper. Games are mostly the same across the board so you get the full experience either way.

Well I don't have a Switch yet, so it would be a while. I'm just looking for the best version of the game. There's nothing worse than buying a version only to find out you missed out on a better version.
