This is not a topic of me asking what i should get, but a topic about what game you think is better than the other! For me, i gotta go with
Paper Mario. The game had improved on graphics, gameplay, storyline, etc. But what is your opinion? do you chose Paper? or 16-bit?

Already been done a million times, and hasn't changed since last time.

I'd have to go with Paper Mario, it has a special place in my heart. I had to wait over six months for it to cross the pond, so when it did arrive, the enjoyment was twofold. The N64's swansong. <3

Paper Mario for me. Mario RPG isn't even REMOTELY close in terms of quality.

SMRPG baby. So many good times with this game. Kicks back in easy chair and remembers all the good times. The laughs, the joys, the tears. I mean...

I've played both games, but I have only owned Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, so I go with that.

Need to seriously compare them in quality.

Paper Mario Why? It's more charming. SMRPG has some oddness that I dislike. Maybe because I'm not so into Sqenix games.

Paper mario is a great game... but the music, characters (Geno ftw), and personality of SMRPG give it the edge in my books.

I'd go for Paper Mario because SMRPG is harder you can take damage in the triple digits where in PM you're likely to take damage in the single digits and rarely in the double digits. Also the game has a feature called "Badges" and when you level up you can upgrade your "HP" or "FP" by 5 or your "BP" (Badge Points) by 3. Here's the differences with HP and FP:

SMRPG:

HP goes from 20-255
FP goes from 10-99
Maximum damage taken: around 320 HP

PM:

HP goes from 10-50
FP goes from 5-50
BP goes from 3-30
Maximum damage taken: 20 HP

Paper Mario is an easier game but it's sequel The Thousand-Year Door is a little more difficult.
